“I’m sure we will. It’s 2016, we have the resources to end this. But either way, look out for my body. It’ll be the highlight of your day.”
“Yeah well i hope they sort it soon. That’s your opinion, personally food would be the highlight, a comfortable bed and a nice hot shower, but you can think that if it makes you happy.”
“You-you carry tweezers around?” He asked, taken aback by the fact that she casually carried them. They would be the last item on his mind to put in a bag. He squeezed his eyes shut as she pulled it out. He had never been good with splinters or needles or flesh eating humans. He was more about brains than being strong. “Thank you.” He cleared his throat, trying to play it cool. He hoped he didn’t come off as a coward. “Yeah, I mean. Could have caused a really bad infection, so…”
“Course i do, girls carry everything with them. You never know when you will need things like tweezers, but it’s always good to have them with you just in case. Good job otherwise you might have got that infection ” She answered, with a small smile.Olivia could see he was trying to be brave and not react but knew it hurt him. Giving him another smile she spoke. “No problem. No wouldn’t have wanted it to get a infection and you having to loose your finger.”
“Don’t go outside, that I can tell you for sure, it’s pretty nasty. Maybe take the wall? Or help with the food supplies? Maybe taking a few training lessons won’t be so bad either, people there will teach you good things about survival, you can never be prepared enough, in case we have to leave hospital at one point.”
“Yeah I’ve heard about the horrible condition outside, that’s all you hear around here. I’m up for anything, anything that can contribute and help out. I’ll be sure to take up some lessons, just in case so like you said, to be prepared. Hopefully when we leave the hospital It’s cause everything has died down and It’s safe outside.”
“I know right? And yeah, it really does suck. I can’t post any pictures on instagram showing of my body. But whatever, when the sun comes back out I’ll just start walking around shirtless.” He joked.
“Oh isn’t that a shame, what ever will people do. Yeah that’s what we have to look forward to, i mean if we make it for summer and can actually walk outside without being attacked. I’ll be sure to look out for your body.”
“Yeah…so am I.” She says sadly. “I’ve been considering doing the supply runs recently but I haven’t decided yet.”
“Yeah I’ve heard that they’re looking for more people to help out with the runs. I’m going to see what they need help with the most and just go with that.”
“Yeah I know the feeling although I’ve kind of been keeping to myself. After Maria…well you know, left,”
“Oh Hayley I’m sorry. Must be hard what you’re going through. I need to sign up for a job, contribute to everything and do my part, that should keep me busy and my mind of the mess.
“Well I’d say surviving is already plenty to do. And trying not to go insane. Make sure everyone around you is doing alright as well. I miss my shop, thought of crooks going through it makes me kinda sick to my stomach. How are you doing, Olivia?”
“I know, now I’ve finished helping my neighbours out i was thinking of signing up for something. Not sure the best thing for me to do though to contribute. I want to play my part though and help people out. I bet it does, that shop was your life, i never got to see you. I’m doing as good as i can. Still alive so that’s pretty good. How’re you doing?”
“I know what you mean. Crooks are everywhere, it’s hard to have some peace. What I think sucks the most though is that there isn’t any internet.”
“Yeah It’s like dodging people you once knew and saw everyday around town but now them not being themselves. No internet does suck, I’m actually missing it a lot.”
“There’s a ton to do actually, if you’re bored you can look at the jobs list and sign up for something.”Ronnie suggested as she knew a lot of people were swamped with their tasks.
“Well I’ve been helping a few friends and neighbours out, now whilst i have some time spare I’ll check out the jobs and see which one i can bring something to.”
“We all do, god, I’d kill for my bed right now. A hot shower that isn’t overcrowded with other people as well and maybe just sitting on the couch and watching TV. Just some normal stuff. But it’ll be fine, we just have to stay positive, right? “
“Yeah It’s like that life doesn’t exist any more and like it hasn’t for a while now. Oh a shower sounds amazing. Yeah trying to do normal things and forget about things for a while. Staying positive is the key.”
“Ow,” Noah whimpered, trying to keep his cool. “I’m fine. I think I can get it out myself– actually no I can’t, can you help me please.” Noah asked, his thumb beginning to throb from the wood in his flesh. “If it doesn’t get removed it can either get infected or my body will create a puss membrane until the skin can grow around it and cause a hard knot and that does not sound very pleasant.”
Olivia sighed, watching Noah struggle and fail. “This is why i carry tweezers with me, for the times when you casually get a splinter.” She chuckled, grabbing Noah’s hand and gently gripped the splinter with the tweezers. “Don’t worry I’ll sort you out Noah. We don’t want disgusting infections and puss coming from it do we. Now this is going to hurt so be prepared.” She pulled the tweezers from his hand. “Got it!”
Its awful what happened but we have to try and keep our heads up.
Yeah that’s the most important thing to do right now. We can’t change things so it’s just living with it.
Okay but could you add it to the top of the list? Well maybe the fact that you can see my ass will give you more incentive to hop on getting those clothes then?
I’ll see if i can convince them to, it is more essential so i can’t see why you can’t get it first. Yeah i mean, must be a little draughty for you.
"There hasn't really been much to do since the boarder thing came down. I've tried helping out a few families, but everything has died down a little now. At least for the time being. I miss my bed, if I'm honest. But I'm just thankful to be alive and healthy."
Okay seriously the next time someone goes on a run can they pick up some clean clothes? I spilled cranberry juice on my clothes last night–anyway this hospital gown feels awfully freeing.
I’ll add it to the long list of things people are requesting, some in which that don’t even sound important but i guess some people have their essentials. Can’t promise they will come any time soon. Also i can see a little more than i need to of you, the gown is a little revealing at the back.
Noah looked down at the large, wooden stick in his hands he thought he could use to defend himself with from any Crooks. “I can’t help but to sympathise with those who are infected. I would hate to spend all of my eternity trapped in my own body. I would be locked within myself forever. It sounds terrible, I hope we can find a cur– HELP I HAVE A SPLINTER.” Noah yelped, the wood piercing his thumb.
Olivia looked towards Noah’s hand seeing what he was holding, raising her eye brows slightly. Great weapon of choice Noah. “Yeah i guess it’s got to suck, i mean being in your body forever, god wouldn’t that be terrible.” Olivia jumped slightly by Noah’s scream before laughing. “Oh my god Noah, come here what are you like. Keep still.”
Sorry for my inactivity recently on Olivia, Hayden and Leo. I've been super busy with keeping up on my assignments and starting my placement that I haven't had the time to get on. I'll make sure to leave myself some time to get on.
