You're a jerk and so am I ā but you're the only one for me || ASHTON
Ā Ā Brown eyes dart back and forth but never land on the celebrity. it was clear the search for some sort of out. Something that could convince Chali that his intentions were something sane. Something that gives him reason to be dressed so oddly and give him a pass to be out all night. No such excuse would float to the top and reveal itself as an easy getaway so he was forced to do something that he was no good at, improvise.
Ā Ā Ā āMyā¦. manager, asked me for some help. He needs me to convince another one of his clients to take some part. I donāt know why he asked me, apparently whatever genre it is this guy considers below him so he refuses or something and itās something I do all the time. He said heād have me take the part but it was made for his other client almost perfectly. Itās stupid as hell, and I donāt know why Iām doing it.ā
Ā Ā Ā He spewed lies, so much so that if his unconvincing performance wasnāt enough to bring him down his out-of-character release of details that were not part of the original question would. He was surprised that he managed to think so quickly on his feet with words. Though he did so often in a more literal sense, speech without a script was not as easy. He almost felt satisfied with himself.Ā āā dressed likeĀ that,Ā I mean,ā The only real hole in his excuse, no explanation was offered and his only hope that what he provided would suffice.
Ā Ā Ā āI donāt need a mask, Heās going to have me picked up. Iām just supposed to be driven to this kidās house or a coffee shop or someplace. It shouldnāt be some tabloid spectacle. Itās not like Iām going to meet you or anything,ā a chuckle slips past his throat as if to punctuate his answer. He may not be good at improvisation, but his acting skills could help him lie.
She doesn't buy the farce ā not at first, but something inexplicable was convincing about the way he said it, this explanation that beheld loopholes her mind was too tired to pick apart at the hour. While Chali's brows knit together in frustration (and in hindsight, it would be something she would sit up at night later thinking about,) she sidesteps and allows the actor to pass in the narrow hallways.
It's not like I'm going to meet you anyway;Ā It's a dry laugh that he elicits, but the pink-haired celebrity lets it slide with the knot in her stomach pulling tightly into a kink that was almost negligible, but dully annoying as the time passed by.
The thought was entertaining, in the least.
"We're already living under the same roof ā I don't think the tabloids would report something like that anymore, of course unless you decide to "cheat" on me out there with a prettierĀ lady or something."Ā
Was that just a hint of bitterness? Jealousyā something in this situation had seemed so familiar, likened to a form of deja vu. Like she had once let someone slip out and never had them return.Ā For business,Ā they say; it reminds her a little of her father's one-time affair with another woman, and Chali recalls the complex that had embittered her whenever the man of the house stepped out in the middle of the night under the guise of a feeble excuseā
"Well, stay safe I suppose. I'll keep the doors unlocked."
She prepares to turn to leave now, but her gaze lingers on his features for just an additional moment before turning away fully. Her room is down the halls and it takes few steps for the distance between them to increase
