Be confused, it’s where you begin to learn new things. Be broken, it’s where you begin to heal. Be frustrated, it’s where you start to make more authentic decisions. Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our heart’s wisdom through it. Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding. You are worthy, always.

I’m here. It’s okay. You’re safe. Nothing can hurt you now. You’re in a safe time and place. I’ll wipe your tears. I’ll keep you close. I can protect you. I see you. I know you’re there. I know you’re hurting and scared. I’m here for you. You’re not alone. (I am alone.) It’s okay to be alone sometimes. You’re safe, you can rest. You’re not bad. You don’t have to fight the feelings, you don’t have to fight yourself. You don’t have to hurt yourself or punish yourself. You’re safe now. I understand. I see. I know. I’ve got you. It’s ok.

This gif has helped me calm my breathing during so many anxiety attacks. Including this morning. Just focus on breathing in sync with the shapes.
Panic Attack Relief
I call this my “instant panic relief pouch” (IPRP). It’s an idea I took from learning about self-soothing, which I’ve posted about in the past. I decided to experiment with ways that I could self-sooth on the go when I sensed oncoming panic or fear. For me, feelings of panic come up both at home and when I’m out at work, school, or with friends. If you feel uncomfortable panic or anxiety coming up, take a couple of minutes to yourself and go over the things in your pouch. Right now my pouch contains:
one scent (right now I’m using cherry!)
a worry stone
a paper filled with little quotes too personal to be worth posting.
Bottled cents can usually be purchased at your local health food store. I tend to change them up because if I use one for too long, it becomes less effective for me. I keep the worry stone because when feeling high anxiety, panic, or fear I tend to take it out on my hands the most– clenching or wringing them a lot. The stone is cool and soothing and less strenuous on my hands. It also appeals to the sense of ‘touch’.
The most effective way to use an IPRP is to customize it to your needs. Pick out things you find soothing. I keep everything in the separate pouch for safety (in case the glass bottle breaks) but also because that makes it much easier to find. If you’re feeling jittery the last thing you want is to be digging around for small items in your purse like a lunatic, amiright?
If anyone likes the idea and comes up with a neat variation feel free to post it or send it to me and I’ll put it up to share with everyone!

| Short guide on how to be a happier person |
It’s been ages since my last advice/tips posts so I thought I would make a “How to be happy” post. Studying is important however, you, as a human and your emotions as well as mental well being is 10x more important.
Meditation Techniques to Help You Visualize Letting Go
Aside from tuning into your breath or your heartbeat, below are some techniques to help you enhance or to discover a meditation practice.
As you close your eyes, imagine your thoughts becoming the descriptions below. Visualize yourself completing the actions described. Allow your troubles to disappear with each mindful manifestation. When you use visuals during meditation, the mind paints a more vivid picture of your decision to let go of the troubles. It helps connect, deep in your core, the intention to find a peace of mind.

Hello Ariadne! How do you study or what are your study habits? Do you rewrite your notes always? Do you do flashcards? How do you revise? Because most studyblr tips here are hard to apply in the Philippines hahaha Also, where did you buy your rhodia notebook? Thank you!
Hi! Woah that’s a lot of questions hahaha 😂 I’m gonna break them down okie?
How do you study/what are your study habits?
Pay attention in class.
Tip #1: Sit either on the first or second row. It does wonders to your level of concentration and attention.
Tip #2: Don’t copy everything written on the PowerPoint presentation. Learn the art of note-taking. Most of the time, your professors will sum up everything in the slide and give additional details. Write those stuff down.
Giving my 100% attention in class saved my ass a couple of times (especially during exams) and it made studying the subject so much easier.
Connect with the lesson.
I try my best to form associations with what I’m learning for memory retention. Sometimes they can be relevant to my personal experiences or sometimes they serve as silly study cues.
Have fun while learning. ‘Nuff said.
Sync everything.
When anxiety and stress hits me, I get memory lapses. I prep for those times by having back-ups for my back-ups. My to-do list is synced on my planner (written), phone, and laptop. My lecture notes are on my laptop or my notebook and my revision notes are on flashcards or on a fresh page in my notebook. So even if I forget to check one of those, I have a back-up ready and I am still able to keep track of the things I need to know and remember.
Get things done as soon as possible.
If it’s a big project, I create a work plan and gradually work on it.
I usually have a break after one class. So if my professor from my previous class gives us homework, I try to work on it already.
I set a much earlier deadline for myself. Due on thursday? Done by monday (or even earlier than that…depends on my schedule).
Allot time to rest.
It took me a while to include this to my list of study habits. It’s in my nature to always find something to do. Although it led to great academic achievements, I realized that my anxiety was triggered more often and I was always on the brink of a mental breakdown or a relapse.
I refrained from pulling all-nighters and went to sleep at 10:30 or 11:00 pm. I didn’t feel well-rested, but I was able to cope much better with attacks and I didn’t get stressed out easily. So that’s a pretty good thing.
I listed down everything at the top of my head. I hope I didn’t miss anything.
Do you rewrite your notes always?
Nope! The notes I take in class are usually my final notes. I just allot a part of the page to translate some notes into my own words and concepts during revision sessions. My schedule doesn’t really give me much time to rewrite notes or make them pretty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If do decide to rewrite them, it’s because I took really messy notes or I needed to understand the lesson again (I usually do this by starting from scratch and studying the lesson on my own.).
Do you do flashcards?
Yes! It’s very helpful in retaining information so I summarize my notes through those.
How do you revise?
I wrote a post about it some time back. Hope you can give it a read. 😀 Although it says that it’s how I revise for my Theories of Personality class, I found myself integrating that process to the other subjects I studied and it helped me a lot.
Oh, and here’s another one of my class notes/revision notes posts!
Where did you buy your Rhodia notebook?
Fully Booked! There are tons of them there. If I’m not mistaken, I think NBS has them now too.
I hope that this response was helpful to you! I know it may be hard to apply the things you read here on Tumblr, but remember that everyone is different. Just because it works for them, doesn’t necessarily mean that it could work for you or me, or that we should make it work. These are just guides and advice. You are more than welcome to make adjustments to them or create a whole new thing altogether in order to develop the study techniques that would be the most comfortable and beneficial to you. Good luck! 😊💖
