—ELIAS BOUCHARD, HEAD PSYCHIATRIST OF THE PSYCHIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE UNIT OF THE MAGNUS INSTITUTE, BRIGHTON.

After being involuntarily admitted into The Magnus Institute for multiple charges of of public harassment, self inflicted harm, and reported mental instability, Jonathan Sims finds himself trying to heal as quickly as possible so that he can leave and return to his ‘regular life’. Upon admission into the hospital, he was snappy and defensive about the state of his well-being until Elias read out the length of his stay and the events he was being admitted for.

During his time in the unit, Jon can be heard and seen talking to himself, seemingly recording “statements” as though if they were real stories from the people on the outside of the ward. Upon further questioning, Jon revealed that most of the elaborate stories were figments of his imagination, with references to the staff that frequents his room, the patients that he sees in the dining hall, and fictional beings he calls “Avatars” that he holds in high regard.

It is later revealed from his files that these stories might have stemmed from blunt force trauma to the head, to which Jon had experienced an anxiety attack from intense arachnophobia as a child.
