Spotting the slayer of Haishan in this world was both a surprise, and something that felt so obviously normal at the same time.

Venti didn’t know if people being pulled to this realm was some manner of test to prove your mettle to greater powers ( had he not already done that, taking up the seat of the God of Winds and surviving the Archon War to take his seat amongst the Seven as the God of Freedom ? ) but were it a test of might…well, these greater powers chose wisely.

He did not travel to Liyue often, but he would be a fool of a bard had he not heard the tales of Crux Captain. Of course, being on of the Seven, he knew of her exploits against the Haishan as well, it being what goaded the previous Electro Archon into granting the woman her vision.

And he’d be even more of a fool if he didn’t take this opportunity to speak with her!

“Yoohoo! You’re the captain of the Crux Fleet, aren’t you? What a surprise it is to see a such a famed face of Teyvat here!”

Beidou had been spending the moment to herself, taking a sip from her gourd filled with God knows what. Though the smart bet was that it was some kind of alcoholic.

She hadn’t met that many people in this city yet, only having been around for just a small bit. So she was spending most of her time just adjusting and acclimating to her brand new surroundings.

It was right after taking a swig from her gourd that she heard someone speak out to her. She looked to see what was apparently a very excitable little guy. Her brow raised, especially at his words.

It seemed like he knew who she was. Well, that told her that he was from her world at least. Though she hadn’t met him before. At least, not that she could recall.

Either way, she answered.

“Yeah, that’s me. I guess you’re from the same world as me. And I guess I don’t need to give you my name. But can I have yours?”

        “  Not  so  easy  to  adjust?  ”    The  question  asked  of  her  is  mostly  rhetorical;  Baizhu  is  well  aware  the  captain  would  be  struggling  to  acclimate  to  their  new  environment,  thus  an  answer  is  not  fully  necessary.  How  could  she  not?  She’d  not  often  spent  time  in  the  harbor,  and  this  metropolis  of  an  island  is  far  different  than  the  Liyue  they  know.  Baizhu  had  simply  rolled  with  the  change,  though  not  without  his  own  difficulty    (  nor  was  it  so  straightforward  a  task  for  others.  )      No  longer  having  a  practice  certainly  has  had  its  challenges,  so  he  can  understand  where  she’s  coming  from.  Definitely.         “  It’s  an  odd  land  we’re  in.  I  imagine  it’s  an  unexpected  change  to  suddenly  be  unable  to  sail  the  seas,  even  in  spite  of  this  being  an  island.  ”     In  the  midst  of  speaking  has  he  started  to  rifle  what  looks  like  a  lidded  wicker  basket  full  of  dried  herbs  –  which  he  only  has  on  him  now  as  he’d  just  come  from  perusing  the  marketplace  for  them.  He  suppose  it’s  handy  that  he  would  need  it,  despite  that  Beidou  appears  to  insist  she’s  in  full  health.     But  Baizhu’s  eye  is  ever  perceptive.  He  sees  the  trace  of  a  fever  in  the  flush  of  her  skin;  knowingly,  he  raises  a  brow.     “  Miss  Beidou,  ”    he  begins,  voice  buoyant  with  its  usual  lilt.  “  I  don’t  treat  my  clients  with  the  assumption  they’ll  be  ‘just  fine’…  Would  you  allow  me  to  at  least  have  a  look?  I  won’t  take  too  much  of  your  time  now.  ”

She came to a pause once she heard him speak her name in that way. It was as if that was all he needed to say to let her know he saw right through her tough gal act.

As much as she would have preferred to just take the medicine and go.. she had the feeling she wasn’t going to win this vocal battle. So it was best that she just surrender and just accept a Doctor’s advice.

She let out a slightly defeated sigh. “Alright. If you really think you should take a look at me, then fine.” Though, then that brought up the question. How was he going to properly examine her.

Beidou too a look around, she highly doubted they could just waltz into whatever building they wanted and do the examination there. So she made her concern vocal.

“Where.. would you actually take a look at me? You don’t really have an office anywhere.”

     “  Ah.  So  it  has,  ”    says  the  herbalist  in  lightly  made  remark.  When  was  the  last  time  he’d  seen  Lady  Beidou,  as  a  matter  of  fact?    The  Captain  of  the  Crux  spent  much  of  her  time  out  at  sea,  far  from  Liyue’s  waters  on  gallant  ventures  into  foreign  territory.  To  find  her  here  of  all  places,  aground  in  an  unfamiliar  land  that  neither  are  home  to,  Baizhu  would  find  himself  surprised.  But  instead  he  smiles,  glad  to  have  yet  another  person  who  has  his  recognition.      Upon  the  mention  of  medicine,  he  sucks  in  a  thoughtful  breath  between  his  teeth,  bringing  a  hand  to  perch  at  his  chin  in  half  weighted  remorse  with  a  tsk.  Changsheng’s  forked  tongue  darts  out  in  this  lapse  of  words,  observing  from  her  coil  on  Baizhu’s  shoulders.      “  Unfortunately…  As  it  stands,  a  routine  check  up  isn’t  nearly  so  easy  without  the  pharmacy.  However,  Miss  Beidou,  I’m  quite  certain  I  can  still  provide  you  basic  care,  what  with  the  short  resources  I’ve  been  lucky  enough  to  gather.  ”      A  flash  of  golden  eyes  over  the  rim  of  spectacles.      “  That  is  why  you’ve  approached  me,  yes?    If  I  may  say  so,  you  don’t  appear  to  have  your  normal  vigor… Might  you  be  unwell?  ”

Beidou cleared her throat for a moment, taking that moment to hide any discomfort she was feeling. Baizhu had obviously started to pick up on it with that last question of his. While she had to admit to herself that she wasn’t invincible, she still wanted to keep up that reputation. It helped to solve a lot of situations her crew and friends found themselves in.

“Ah. I sometimes forget that we aren’t in Liyue anymore. It’s.. hard to believe that we’ve been taken somewhere else entirely.”

She substituted her very light fidgeting for her instead using her hand to crack her neck. Something for her hand to do for mow.

“I’m.. fine. I was just hoping to get my usual medicine shipment. Before.. I realized you didn’t have any. But- Don’t worry about it, Doctor. I’m sure I’ll be just fine.”

Her eye patch and hair hid most of her forehead. But there was a somewhat warm red over her forehead. Once noticing that, it wouldn’t be hard to tell that a lot of her face looked notably.. warm.

“It has.. been a while, yes.”

She did seem a bit uncomfortable to be here, within the pharmacy and seeing the doctor himself. But even she had to come to grips with the fact that no one was invincible. Sometimes. Only sometimes did she have to admit that.

“Hard to get a check up and stock up on medicine when you’re out at sea for months at a time.”

“Lost?” She took a quick swig from her gourd and after one quick wipe of her mouth, she turned to look towards him.

“I don’t think I’m lost. I don’t look that way, do I?”
