— Kabir Das
Translation:
God tells that he’s not where people are looking for him — temples, churches, pilgrimages, idols, etc. Rather he’s with us, with everyone, in everyone. Later he tells that if he’s truly looked for with faith, he’ll be found at once. More literal translation of this beautiful poem goes as follows.
Where are you looking for me, man?
I am with you.
Neither in pilgrimage nor in idol,
Nor in a secluded residence.
Neither in the temple, nor in the mosque,
Not in Kaba or Kailash.
I am with you.
…
If you truly look for me, I’ll be found instantly,
Just in a moment’s worth of search.
I am in faith.
I am with you.
