   “What are you lookin’ at me like that for?”    He sighs, smiling softly as he lays latest hand    of cards down, folding for the umpteenth time. Either    luck’s abandoned him for the evening, or his partner’s    gone ahead and rigged the damn deck.

   “Tryin’ to see through my clothes again?”

”Doctor Najjar told me someone was coming to see me, but that it was one of her guests? Well, without further parley.. tell me…  … what brings you here?”

“Ah yes, good evenig’ your majesty.      Er, your grace?               Highness?” Yogi huffs against his own nerves. He’s already struggling to maintain eye contact as he stands before Pagan, wracked with unfamiliar, unwelcomed worry. The two hits off his favorite pipe outside the palace gate have done nothing to ease his anxiousness. Hell, it might’ve made it worse as he prepares himself to grovel at the dictator’s feet. It’s the last bloody thing he wants to do, but also his last option.

“Right. So, you remember my mate Reg? You had our passports, uh....held for safe keeping?”

He pauses, waiting for a reply that doesn’t come. Embarrassed, he clears his throat before continuing, staving the frown that begins to tug at his lips.

“Well...he’s not doing so well. See, he’s got a this fever that won’t seem to quit. Can’t keep anythin’ down or in, either. I’ve done what I can, but he needs something more than herbs by this point. Now, I know you know that Noore’s got her hands full at Shanath...I thought maybe you might have another doctor on hand?”

“How many poor bastards have you tricked by now? 20? A hundred? A lot of gullible fools here, I’m sure. Didn’t expect Ajay to be one of them, granted, slight disappointment there. Or perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised.”

A careful pause followed as he realized the latter was more fitting. “Oh, of course I know about that. Nothing escapes my watchful eye; thank fucking god for that. Kyrat would be lost otherwise.” 

‘Nervous’ is a gross understatement. Yogi is nothing short of terrified as he stands before the bloody king of Kyrat. He’d arrived unannounced--and impeccably well dressed--outside the homestead by helicopter. The wind current had almost knocked Yogi off the edge of the overlook as he gathered leaves--ingredients--in the adjacent guardian. There’s still dirt caked on his knees and under his nails as he address his superior.

“Now, now...’tricked’ is such an ugly word,” he chuckles nervously, “We do provide a legitimate service. We don’t advertise for the sake of discretion, but-- ”

His face all but drops as Ajay’s mentioned. 

“O-oh. Nothin’, eh? Heh. Well, Reg n’ I knew from the start that it was part a’ your plan. Noore was, uh...very specific with her--your--intentions for the boy.”

“Thanks, Yogi.” Ajay answers, then pauses because he recalled seeing Reggie already. He clears his throat. “Pretty sure he was in the guest wing… he said something about hoppin’ in the sauna, whatever that means…”

“I don’t know if that means anything to you, but…” Ajay trails off, shrugging. “Make yourselves comfortable, either way. Renovating the plumbing at your place’ll take a while.”

“It’s no trouble, your majesty.”

Yogi chuckles as he turns his face away, eyes averting to the ground. Faint heat colors his cheeks pink as he thinks to Reggie in a towel, sweat dripping down the curve of his tanned back. The lewd image robs his high of its calm while his stomach flutters excitedly. Butterflies. 

“Is that right?” He reaches to scratch the back of his neck, “He’s probably hot-boxin’ it, then. Not a bad idea, come to think of it. I...oughta join him.”

He begins to pace backwards, bowing goodbye as he speaks.

“Thanks a million, Ajay. Give my best to the missus, yeah?”
