I’ve been solving cases here much longer than you have. Prove yourself, and then I might be willing to compromise.”

"No' a was'e of time? 'alf hour there, anuver twen'y back to the 'ouse. Nearly a whole hour we don' need to lose." A groan was stuck in the back of his throat. Prove himself? "'ow the 'ell do you wan' me to do tha'?"

It was probably a good thing that he didn’t know any better then. Because, Damon was looking to sink fangs into carotid and enjoy a little snack before the sun climbed any higher in the sky. Sadly, Damon didn’t play with marbles, but he could bake some killer cookies.

”Yeah, that’s not what I’m looking for, mate.”

The more the stranger spoke, the stronger the desire to get away from him was. The look on his face did nothing to settle the sudden jitters he had about the man. Taking one step back, trying to focus on his work, he waved on hand towards the shop he'd mentioned.

"I'm sure you can find somefin' there, bu' I really need you to leave. Crime scene and all."

She was making this difficult on purpose now, and he was running out of excuses much too quickly. "No, tha' doesn' make sense. I's a was'e of time. I'll take i' over and mee' you there. You can star' searchin' wifou' me." Phoebe was going on his list of reasons he hated his side job. The very top of the list.

At his words, Carson was immediately on edge. If he didn't know better, it sounded like this guy wanted to eat him as a snack. It definitely wasn't the first time he'd dealt with people a with a few marbles missing, but something about him and the things he said was more than just off.

"Righ', well, there's a Tesco's 'round the corner, bu' I can' 'elp you, and I'm busy."

Hopefully he got the clue.

A sudden shadow was cast over his laptop, informing him he was no longer alone. With a heavy sigh on his lips, Carson drew his eyes upward and paused, fingers hovering over the keys. If he was here, that meant he had a job to do. It had been a while since he'd heard from his benefactor, and he'd almost hoped they didn't need him anymore.

"What now?"
