New Jfashion term: Mare-kawaii

(pronounced ‘mare’ like the end of ‘nightmare’ in English, めあかわいい) Short for 'Nightmare kawaii’. It’s intended as a counterpart to Yumekawaii ('dreamy kawaii’) and is kinda pastel-goth-kawaii with some vaporwave thrown in, but is very loose and free with the colours and motifs you wish to use to express it. The aesthetic has been described by some people as “having a nightmare, but it’s a cute nightmare”. Additionally it seems to focus more on black+pastel colours that are not pink “because pink was overused previously”.

It has been created by the Japanese community to replace 'yamikawaii’ so that it is a word free from Ezaki trademarks and drama. Also in the hopes of less stigma towards the menhera/'sick’ community by not using the word 'sick’ (yami) itself. The community brainstormed ideas for a replacement term and settled on Marekawaii.

Also note that it does not particularly use medical motifs, and there is a suggested new term for a focus on the medical motifs for people who really liked that: Medikawaii (めでぃかわいい)

Angel Wing Cuffs

Same as the above, only with the difference that craft foam? wing appliques were inserted into the top belt.

Angelic Seifuku

Made from this and this, cross was made from glueing! (not even sewn on) two fabric stripes on the sailor collar,  iridescent wing and star appliques can be found on etsy.

Angelic Shoes

Made from these replacing the bows with the same material as above. Tbh you can do that with all kinds of cute shoes, you only need some clip to attach the winged star to.

Angelic Sandals

Same as the above.

Star Garters

Just buy some lace garters and make yourself some big satin ribbons, attach the applique of your choice to the ribbon’s center.

Heart Garterbelt

Buy some garterbelt and attach appliques above the clips.

Ribbon Babydoll

Do we really need to explain this? It’s only a satin bow. We don’t want to continue as this would only be repeating, all you do is attaching appliques and satin ribbons to everything.

Skirts and Winter

As you probably know already, lots of japanese girls run around in short skirts even in the deepest winter.

We start to freeze just looking at this! There are quite a bunch of solutions out there for people like us who can’t even stand regular cold. Layering a bunch of stockings would probably the first thing to come to one’s mind or wearing thick wool ones, neither is comfortable for many people.

The most popular solution is plush fur lined leggings that emulate the appearance of tigh highs!

At first glance, they look like your regular fake tigh highs but let’s look a little closer.

Looks quite thick already, huh?

Depending on the manufacturer, they can have up to 1cm thickness which makes you feel like wearing a sweater on your legs, far away from cold.

They come in quite a bunch of fancy designs but also in various skin color variations.

It may be hard to find non-solid designs in the west tho but in the worst case you could buy them from Taobao, search term is “绒加厚假连裤袜“.
