Hope is not a great strategy, you have got to plan your success and actually do something about it. If you do not make it once, try again, and try again...then re-evaluate and change your strategy, your company or approach and see yourself grow. In the least, you will learn a few great lessons, at the most you will achieve your dreams. Keep dreaming but START doing!!

OMG! Is that you?

So three years ago I ran into a friend I had not seen in about 5 years. She kept looking at me like I was someone she was supposed to know but could not bring herself to remember. She looked and looked again, every time squinting like the sun was in her eyes. I just kept looking at her cos I sort of knew what this was about. Oh my gosh, Iveren, is that you? You look...a little different she said to me. I just smiled and asked... ”how different do I look Pat?” I asked with emphasis. “Well, it seems you may have put on some weight...in the right places of course. You look very good dear” was her response. All the while, her eyes wondered all over my body and settled on my stomach. Ha! I saw and heard the mockery she concealed in her eyes and her voice but I broke into a laugh. That reaction must have shocked her because, before I could regain myself she scurried away.

I have never let anyone body shame me. When I was younger, I was lean and athletic. I wasn’t exactly skinny, I just was not fat at all. I grew older and became busier and it started to become a bit harder to loose weight and stay on track with workout and proper eating so yes, I gained weight. It was significant at first but I would loose some of the weight and then gain it back, lose and gain, I was swinging in the weight department like an unstable pendulum. There was however one thing I did not let happen to me. I did not let ANYONE make me feel like I was a looser because I could not keep the scale at 50kg every time I climbed it. I wore my weight with pride and when I lost it, I wore my size-whatever that was- with pride. I had my low moments, don’t get me wrong. There were times when I just couldn’t get why I was not “disciplined” enough to keep the weight off. But all that lasted max of one day and I was up and about again. 

I only made sure to eat right, exercise right and keep my feelings in check cos they were subject to change. So I didn't let my feelings dictate or define me or my actions for that matter. I am healthy, I am fine, I am happy regardless of what goes on in another person’s head. Period. I am not afraid to experience change.

If I will to pray for anything, then it would be to have stability of mind, not do too much or too little but just enough. Not be unkind or too kind but just kind enough. Not expect too much or too little but just enough. Most importantly to know to be or not to be, when how and where...

To be a better version of me

Every day I wake up, I pray that today I can be a better version of who I was...who I am. Every day, I don’t stop at that, I do something different. I add a little to what I did yesterday or I change an approach I used two days earlier. You see, I always try...I don’t always succeed but I never relent. Otherwise how would I grow?

Living is not just about waking up every morning and going back to bed every night, it is literally about how we interact with each other. How we relate, how we affect each other’s lives, how we react and respond to issues and how they affect us. Until we allow ourselves to enjoy life, we will always have difficulties being who we are and letting others be who they are around us. 

Enjoying living is in my opinion, accepting that things will not always be the way we want them to be, being comfortable with failure but not accommodating of it, knowing that all good things will not happen to us at the same time, there is a process to all things. Life in itself is beautiful but unless we open our hearts to the beauty around us, we will not experience it.

How do I start?

I have had a lot of thoughts as to how I was going to start working on my passion. You see, I love to write. I write about any and everything. Growing up, I was always with my pen and paper...until I got a computer and was always with that. Though, I have found it easier to do the pen-and-paper writing, I have also gotten better at using the computer too. Most of my issue with using a computer came from the fact that by the time I put on the computer when I got up in the middle of the night with an idea, I would have forgotten about half of my thought. So for me, bedside pen and notebook still does it.

So, I will not be writing about just one thing, I will write about everything I have a thought about. I believe that we are all multifaceted and should be able to explore and enjoy every aspect of our lives as they happen to us. I also love to sing and dance and maybe one day, I will post a video of that here too. For now though, I will just let out this sigh of relief for finding a platform I can just write on.

Maybe next time, I will tell you some of the things that I have learned in this little life I have lived and how some of those things have helped me grow...at least I think I am grown or yet, still growing  ;-)
