i noticed that the majority of the ygo ocs i've seen recently have some creative background as well as having their signature decks for them....

would anyone even fuck w js a civilian oc in the ygo zexal verse or is it some sort of requirement to have a duel disk and cards ready at all times for some reason?????

(yk js in case you can't pay for your dinner and was lacking some money so you and the waiter had to settle it over by whoever wins the duel does as the winner demanded or idk man)

bc if yes then my sona's definitely cooked if having a dueling gear and also being able to duel is a requirement bc i still don't know which xyz deck would suit her omfg (doesn't help that the only deck ik how to play is lunalight and gimmick puppet....)

Hopefully not, my main OC can't duel for the majority of the time, since (and this is a twist) she can't see the cards and no one not even her twin sister knows.

In a world were dueling is essential and it's literally being taught, she finds this as a disgrace and that the cards (and spirits) deem her unworthy so she hides this.

She was born with this condition btw, though she vaguely can say with some certainty that she used to see the cards (and their spirits) but she doesn't remember that time, and she thinks it her brain making things up (again) because there was once a time in her childhood she wished she can also duel, but since her journals had no words of her ever seeing any glimpses of the cards and she can't obviously trust her brain that can hold 2 years worth of memories- she just chalks it as her being crazy (again).

So she just doesn't ever mention dueling anymore, and doesn't bother to hate the game since her family loves dueling especially her twin sister whom she can tell they are tiptoeing around her about dueling.

(She thinks that she nailed the no reaction pit to dueling, but she has a very severe case of poker face that makes her look scary/angry which becomes worse when she hears the word dueling.)

(oh and I never mentioned that this OC suffer 'consequences' after watching dueling, it's like she's not allowed to ever watch nor duel!)

There will be a time when she is literally forced to duel to save her friends, and after that duel ends she ends up breaking down in the dark thinking no one can see her. (She has crafted a calm, happy and polite mask all her life, so when this happened, still can see the cards, and literally needed help from a little 'unwanted creature' to tell her what fucking cards she's holding and what to play- she is disgusted at this, for asking help from the last 'thing', and mostly at herself for cheating -even if the little thing is a little piece of her lost self/memories-.)

Even her twin sister doesn't duel that much especially not around her sister, if she found someone strong worthy to duel against she goes for it, I will say she's one of those who have average mentalities about dueling, she mostly likes to hover around her sister for many reasons such as, a: she's a danger to herself and very likely to fall in a dark ditch and die due to her strange sickness, b: she's a danger to everyone else, c: no reason, she just like her sister's personal space even especially sister tries to hide/run away.

I have another OC who doesn't duel at all, she tried it before and didn't find her cup of tea so she never tried it again.

I think my reason to make more OCs who can't duel or duel a bit, is because I'm bad at dueling and not very creative when thinking of dueling, and creating dueling monsters for my OCs.

Like I thought of few, and they are all related to the OC who can't see the cards! Hers would be centered around astronomy, mostly Citus star, dragons and banished/outcasts horror monsters, and this deck isn't going to be used by her current version... Her current version would use deck with whales and dragons.

I only know that the twin sister has a deck full of Phoenixes and blue fire creatures.

looking back, dueling in the the general ygo verses seems so crucial but i noticed that out of the yugioh shows i've watched so far (ygo arc v and zexal) dueling IS something of a normal concept to the characters to the point it may be seen as odd if any of them were to encounter ppl who were not a fan of dueling or js absolutely loathed dueling, there's literally no in between

so reading abt your ocs that were also not able to duel or js doesn't want to, reading your backstory abt them.... looks at my sona who js doesn't want to bother w dueling overall but still kept some outdated dueling gear and shit cards js in case and is more of a career-focused type lmao

it's absolutely creative of you that there are reasons for your ocs not wanting to duel ^_^ so it also feels nice that there are also some ygo ocs out there who also doesn't duel much lolol (as for your reasoning as to why you make more ygo ocs who can't duel, i also relate to the part of creating your ocs' deck of duel monsters as someone who only plays two decks that are easy for me to followw :')))

Was writing a review of Zexal Episode 7 & 8 and the bit about Quattro/IV and Fuya/Nelson parallels and notably, their contrasts, got out of control. So here's a whole post on it: I see a lot of III/Trey comparisons and associations with Fuya and think they're a lot of fun! I also find that IV, as one of III's brothers and the middle child of the Arclights has a lot of interesting Actor commentary foils when comparing him to Fuya.

With Fuya/Nelson, his case really shows how the weight of fiction and stardom can cause a negative bleed through and affect actors when they're behind the curtain. If Quattro/IV's in control of his image and can choose what kind of influence he has on his fans. To the point of hiding his more sadistic tendencies to attack them. Fuya is the Opposite. He's not in control of his image and his popularity. He's being bent to the shape of it and it suffocates him. He can't act freely as The Sparrow/ESPer Robin due to how he's important to the show's success, needing to maintain his image as a star, his fans are another shackle that he's tired of. Meanwhile IV uses his image and popularity to his advantage and whims and can freely choose who he interacts with. There's also their attitudes and how IV puts up a facade to lure in his fans and then reveals his true intentions making a mockery of how they're fooled by him. While ESPer Robin has to put on a brave face for his fans and act as a valiant hero. When Fuya was being controlled by number 83, he performed deeds that involved restraining and attacking civilians who committed misdeeds due to the sense of justice ESPer Robin has. Both these behaviors are considered out of control showing the extremities and crossed limits to when a performance becomes real. While this might be a reach, I feel the need to add that, other than having Blue and Yellow contrast palettes. They also have Puppet Themes, with IV it's blatant with his gimmick puppet deck and habit of stringing his fans along. While with Fuya its more subtle with the Dub describing Galaxy Queen turning ESPer Robin and his companions into puppets which refers to how Fuya is controlled by his mother to the point his deck is influenced and the direct connection to the number card showed how the TV show took over his life. In essence, he is the puppet being played and this could apply to both of them. I think it's interesting how they are two sides of the same coin and direct opposites when it comes to Acting because IV is an Influencer like-figure and Fuya is an professional Live Action TV Actor, and how both ultimately feel pressured due to a Parental Figure in their life and family-based environmental factors that punch down on them. They both paint a picture of how it can difficult to be "yourself" as a person within the restrictions of how others (mainly family) who are more interested in monitoring and keeping you under control.

Ultimately, Fuya and IV both show how human people with a lot of fame can be. The fame they have can hurt them or they can hurt their fans. There are lines that blur together between the figure of influence, and how idealizing people like them often leads to more harm than good due to how the image they present can be falsified for the public. It's more likely that they won't live up to expectations others have of them and that's alright, just remember that idolizing or degrading other people by placing expectations on how they act isn't the way to go. Just look at them!
