@kadenawad:
“Why don’t you enlighten me then? Seems I need a little more education on literature.” he said before his hand grasped the driving shaft holding firmly. “I got it at the auction believe it or not. It was pretty beat, but I managed to fix it up just nicely. Was hard getting some parts, but these hands can do anything.” he teased as his hand released the shaft and came back to the steering wheel.
“He’s a writer who drove across America and wrote about it or something. He’s this huge icon but apparently his writing style is super poor like he just rambles with no punctuation, like he’s never taken an English class. Probably the only reason I know ‘im is cause he’s a successful drop out,” she shrugged. She supposed it always comforted that people as stupid as her could be successful at something they would have been considered poor at in the grand scheme of things. “Don’t tempt me, Kay. You know how badly I’d love to test that theory,” she teased, flashing him a playful wink as her hand lightly rested on his thigh once both his hands were on the steering wheel. “That’s awesome though, good for ye.”
@rory-q:
“I don’t know, something sweet that doesn’t taste like booze at all, usually.” Rory responded, chuckling under her breath, as she realized how terribly girl she made herself sound. Without a second thought, or any hesitation, Rory hopped up onto the counter to get a better look at what they had.·“Oh, this one looks good!” She exclaimed with excitement, twisting off the bottle cap to take a sniff of it.·“God, I think that’s just filled with nail polish remover.” She whined, scrunching her face up and quickly covering her nose. “Here, I’ve had this one before, for sure.” She said, before grabbing some sort of strawberry flavored vodka and coming back down to the ground.·“If you mix it up with sprite it taste like strawberry soda, does that sound good for ya?”
Ivy couldn’t help but laugh, watching the girl jump up onto the counter like a cat and examining the cabinet. The girl removed bottles and sniffed them curiously as if it would give her any inclination to the drink other than the fact that it was alcoholic. Ivy took the bottle that she suggested, examining the sweetened vodka bottle. “Everything’s good with me as long as it’s still booze,” she assured, chuckling lightly. “Sprite in the fridge?”
@rory-q
“You’re gonna have to be like, a hundred times more specific than that.” Rory said with a quiet laugh, leading Ivy into the kitchen, where she reached up and opened the cabinet where Parker stored all of of the bottles of liquor he got to take home from work. Which usually, Rory never bothered to get into on her own. “I’ve never really made anything before, but that blue stuff up at the top tastes like sweet tarts when you mix it with one of the other ones, I can’t remember which though.”
Ivy laughed brightly. She eyed the cabinet of liquor bottles, a little ashamed of the excitement she got seeing the variety of options. “No worries love, I’m good with straight stuff. What do you want? I’ll follow your lead.”
@rory-q:
“Okay, you ready?” Rory asked, grinning back at ivy before she put her key into the door and begin her count down. “3…2…1! Go go go!” Rory shouted, laughing rather loudly as the two of them hurried inside. After shutting the door behind her, Rory wasted to time making herself feel right at home again, kicking off her shoes and hanging her bag on a hook. “Do you want some snacks, or something to drink?”
Ivy waited for her count, practically holding her breath before sprinting in with Rory. The two girls laughed brightly as they shut the door behind them, succeeding in keeping the cat in. Ivy followed the girl’s lead and took off her shoes before stepping into the house. “A drink’d be lovely - anything ya got.”
@kadenawad:
“Is it a bad thing that I don’t know who he is?” Kaden said as he set the car in drive and not even a mere press of his foot and the loud engine rang loudly through the air as the car took off.
“Kaden, I don’t even read and I know who he is,” she told him flatly before laughing brightly. She shimmied slightly as his engine roared to life before they propelled forward. “This things amazing! Where’d you get it?”
@rory-q:
“Perfect! C’mon, let’s go.” Rory exclaimed, full of excitement, as she lead Ivy down the street a couple of blocks to her own building. After fumbling through her purse for a minute looking for her keys, she turned back to Ivy quickly. “When I open to door we have to get in fast though that sneaky little thing tries to make a run for it every time I come home.”
Ivy followed her happily, the two girls giggling and chatting along the way before finally reaching her door. It took Ivy a second to remember Rory was talking about the dog. “Okay, count down for me and I’ll sprint!” she assured with another grin, prepping herself to do as promised.
@kadenawad:
“Hop in.” he said and took his hand off the wheel to lean over and open the passenger side door for her.
Ivy smiled, trotting into the car and buckling herself in. “Alright, let’s make like Jack Kerouac and get out of here.”
@kadenawad:
“I had a feeling you’d come running, but how do you feel about taking it up the mountains?”
“I say let’s do it.”
@scott-blackwood:
“Aye, well,” Scott chuckled. “I’ll be waitin’ for that day,” He gave a gentle sigh the longer Ivy spoke and he gently nodded his head. “I’m proud of ye, Ives,” Scott assured her as he put his hand on her knee and rubbed it gently. “And I’m glad yer here,” He added. Scott knew that Ivy’s struggles with her addiction were far from over, but here. “If ye really want to do that, then there is somethin’ ye could do. I’m just sure it’s not something yer not interested in,” Scott shrugged, wondering if she’d know what he wanted for her. What he’d always wanted for her. “Aye, and the only reason I’ve gotten the job in the first place is because people are scared of me. Not that I’m saying that they’re wrong to, but still,” He argued. Scott wondered what would happen if his staff–including his brother and one of his very closest friends–found out about Scott’s life in Scotland. Would they still look at him the same? Probably not. “There’s much less for ye to worry about on me behalf here. I’m not concerned about gettin’ a knife pulled on me here,” He joked poorly.
Ivy could feel her body burning, a mixture of joy and guilt colliding within her as he told her he was proud of her. It felt too good, like she didn’t deserve it. She looked at him with wide eyes of shock and awe, a grateful and endearing smile across her face. She gently rested her hand over his, eyeing the qualities of his skin before giggling lightly. “You’re the only boy on earth who would be sweet about living on this island of ex girlfriends,” she chuckled softly. “But - I’m happy to be here, and I’m happier that ye’r okay with it.” Ivy knew she was never one to make Scott’s life easy. She was a full fledged hurricane, but she was trying to destroy less. “Ye know I’d do anything for ya, so that ain’t fair,” she chuckled softly. “What’dya want from me, love?” she asked, genuinely curious - though she was pretty sure she wouldn’t want to know. “Well then I’ll try not to ruin the illusion by revealin’ ye’r teddy bear centre!” she teased, poking his stomach playfully. “Ye may be tough, but ye’r the most carin’ person I know,” she told him genuinely. “Ye’r awful, ye know that?” she laughed. “But seriously, ye should know that ain’t all I’m worried about.”
@rory-q:
“Yeah! You haven’t met him yet? He’s the cutest little thing. You have to come over there now. It’s close by, and you could stay over if you have one too many fancy drinks. It’ll be fun, what do you say? Party at Rory’s?”
“I haven’t, but I’d love to! Party at Rory’s! Lead the way love.”
“Now that I’m back from hustling money to get this ‘69 Mustang remodeled, anyone up for a test drive with me? I promise the roar of the engine is enough to lift your butt off the seat.”
“You know you can always count on me, love.”
