The reason of why I used

Hinomaru

& Russian flag instead IJA & USSR, aside of the sensitive issue regarding the historical side, the idea was because when Akira was born, RU hasn't changed to Soviet/USSR.

He's born somewhere before 1920, hence for him, the truest motherland flag would be the white -blue-red instead of the infamous Red Banner.

And the reason of why I didn't use IJA version; according to my brief research, it was used for militaries mostly. And ofc, Akira wasn't--part of or has any relation to JP's military at all (as he grew up abroad in RU).

Concept wise, the flags were to symbolise the future (as the said nations use those flags after the war/peace retained)

However, it was bloodstained–because that's just the truest reality of war. There were sacrifices for the sake of future's peace.
