Check out a video for a song by Part-Time Genius.
The music was recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely at my studio (Ivyhurst Studios). Vocals and solos are overdubs. The rest was recorded live in the room. The video was filmed here in Buffalo NY by myself. Shot entirely on an iPhone 8 Plus using a simple anamorphic lens and Filmic Pro. The video concept and direction was done by myself and Jon Lorusso. Edited by me (Scott Howard) in Final Cut Pro. If your band wants big studio sound at home studio prices, contact me and we’ll see if we can’t get you in for a session!
This EP was recorded here at the Ivyhurst studios last winter and remixed/posted during the Covid pandemic. I had a lot of fun recording and mixing this song with 3 amazing bandmates. Bob Fera writes amazing songs. Bob Kup plays amazing guitar lines. Mike Bisson is a rock on the drums. Enjoy!
I see musician friends, good people, bemoaning not being able to "play shows".
I get it. It sucks. For those who rely on it for primary income, that *really* sucks.
That's not about *music*. You can still make music, enjoy music, and even share music online.
If the only reason why you play live music is to have an audience watch you and cheer for you, I gotta question whether your passion is really the music or just the attention.
This is my quarantine music machine and it don't stop. I'm fortunate to have a home and make a living. This isolation sucks but I can still play music
For right now, crowds spread virus and virus kills people. So, shows won't happen and I'm OK with that. I'll enjoy music on own.
Shows can come later. Studio sessions can happen later. For now, I'm more concerned for my fellow citizens' health than having fun at a concert.
Keep making beats and beat the virus.
SUNDAY: SRB will be adding some deep grooves for a really good cause! Sunday (6/24) at the Cove (Transit Rd, Depew, NY). Come help stomp out domestic violence! [$5 donation at the door.]
This should be a cool show. We go on first at 10pm playing a set of originals and a couple of new covers. Also... follow @sexyrockbuffalo for info about Sexy Rock Band’s secret plan to infect the world with the funk.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... it finally became pool season in #Buffalo. #summertime #buffalove #starwars #kesselrun
Suck it, drummers. Take a hike, guitar gods. It's all about the low end. (If your bass player sucks, the whole band sucks. )
So nice, clean and organized studio/rehearsal space. Gonna enjoy this for the whole 15 minutes that it lasts.
This is a music video for a song called “Block Sale”. Recorded at Ivyhurst Studio in Buffalo, NY.
If you don’t know me, I’m an independent artist living in Buffalo, NY. I run a small recording studio where I and play music and make records.
The song was written and recorded in the summer of 2016. It’s about stuff. Having stuff, giving away stuff, needing stuff and not needing stuff.
The video is comprised of slow motion video of my ugly mug, plus some clips from Haleakala National Park in Hawai’i and a few shots from NYC.
All film was shot and edited by me. If you like the song, awesome, let me know and maybe I’ll put out an mp3. If you don’t, well, then you can share that opinion, too.
Thanks for reading my blog. Be sure to send me your comments, likes, and other social media currency. I need more things.
Live performance of Someone Like You (Kings of Leon) by Sexy Rock Band in the Ivyhurst studios.
It’s a small, private studio, but I do take bookings. We do up to 16 tracks of live digital recording for bands, including mixing, mastering, etc. If interested, check out http:/www.ivyhurst.com/studio or contact me to check out the studio and book time.

Darth Vader: Incompetent Sith Lord?
Let me say, I am a huge fan of Darth Vader. He is, by far, my favorite character in my favorite series: Star Wars.
I like everything about Darth Vader:
His voice (James Earl Jones is the shizzle.)
His bad-ass outfit.
His force-choking incompetent Imperial subordinates.
How he kills incompetent fools.
His bad-ass red lightsaber.
His cool, special tie fighter.
All of it is just awesome.
There’s just one tiny problem. If you take the time to think about it, our boy Anakin Skywalker (a.k.a Darth Vader) is a total failure as a Sith. He never succeeds.
Darth Vader also screws up every assignment he's given in Episodes IV, V, and VI.
Let's list them, shall we?
TASKS DARTH VADER SCREWS UP:
Retrieve stolen Death Star Plans from a princess? FAIL.
Detect the launch of an escape pod with HIS OWN DROIDS (R2D2 and C3PO) in it? Nope.
Find lost/stolen plans on the desert planet Tattooine? FAIL. (Also, how does he not sense his own damn kid with the force??? Vader is so damn incompetent!)
Stop 3 people, a wookie, and 2 droids from infiltrating his own Star Destroyer and from stealing his highest-profile captive on that ship? FAIL.
Confronted Obi-Wan, but failed to take him alive, killing him instead, making him more powerful. (Kenobi even WARNS Darth Vader that striking him down will be a mistake!) FAIL.
Protect the whole Death Star from one tiny squadron of fighters? NOPE.
Stop rookie pilot, Luke Skywalker, from scoring a critical hit on Death Star? FAIL
Capture Luke on Cloud City trap? NOPE. He caught Han Solo instead. When he faces Luke, he chops off his hand and then loses him to a bottomless pit. EPIC FAIL.
Catch the shuttle to capture Luke so the Emperor can turn him? Nope. Luke turns himself in.
Turn Luke to the dark side? Nope. Loses his own hand in a lightsaber fight with a goddamn rookie Jedi. Fail.
That’s probably not even a full list. I bet there’s more.
Aren’t all Sith supposed to eventually kill and take over for their master? Yeah, but Vader even screws that up.
The only thing Darth Vader does succeed in is stopping the Emperor from shocking Luke to death, and process that ends with Vader essentially killing himself. What a boob.
I wonder how the Darth Vader I know and love would have handled the failures of Darth Vader? I think I know...
Bah Humbug. 🎄
