“  that’s  why  i’m  not  going  to  do  it  ”  avery  chuckled.  “  yeah,  you  say  that  but  …  i  will  have  to  pay  you  back  somehow  ”  she  said  raising  her  eyebrows  teasingly at  the  other. “  right  now  i  wanna  pay  this  skirt,  how  much  is  it,  miss  ?  ”  avery  smiled. “  sounds  good  to  me  ”  she  nodded,  “  i’m  pretty  sure  i  was  so  busy  thinking  about  my  great  plan  on  how  to run  away  with  something  that  i  just  didn’t  notice  that ”  she laughed. “  do  you  know  if  they  have  anything  vegan  or,  that  will  be  a  surprise  ?  ”

“Thank you.” Ivy laughed with her girlfriend. “If you insist, that will be zero dollars, zero cents, and one kiss.” She grinned, knowing she would never reveal the prices to Avery. While Jones & Co. was still hers, she would never charge the blonde. “If they don’t, I can always just find a house salad or something like that. No big deal.” Places usually didn’t offer vegan options, so Ivy had grown accustom to ordering things and asking them to leave out the meat and dairy.

The Commodore often had restricted seating this time of day, mostly because the younger people in town were off their day shifts around the same time and it was a good place to get a cheap meal and drink. “Sorry... do you mind if I take this seat? Seems like there’s nowhere else,” Ivy asked sheepishly.

Having just moved to Newhaven, Ivy didn’t know many people. But, she was beginning to recognize faces. The woman at checkout was pretty familiar, but they hadn’t particularly engaged in conversation yet. “This is cute. And it’s perfect for this hot weather,” she said as she was checking her items, a small smile on her lips.

avery  couldn’t help  laughing  at  her  girlfriend’s words.  she  raised her  hands  in  mock  defense. “  i  promise i  won’t  run  away  with  anything  ”  the  blonde assured,  a  smile  tugging  the  corners  of  her  lips.  she  had  never  even  thought  about  doing  that,  teasing  the  other  was  the  only  reason  why  avery  mentioned doing  so.  “  i’ll  end  up  owing  you  more  than  i  can  really  afford  ”  she  smiled  at  the  other, she  looked  around just  to  make  sure  she  wasn’t  going  to  bother  any  costumer  by  talking  with  ivy.  “  now  that  you  don’t  have  to  worry  about  me  running away  with  this  beautiul  skirt  …  would  you  like  if  i  stay  around until  you’re  done  and  then  …  we  get  something to  eat  ?  ”  she  winked  her  girlfriend  with  a  smile  on  her  lips.

“I love you, but it would be so bad for business and we just got here.” She laughed along with the blonde, her head shaking in mock disappointment. “You owe me nothing. I’d give you whatever you want,” Ivy assured, her words as genuine as the huge grin on her face. She nodded at the question. “Sure, that sounds nice. I saw a diner on the corner, maybe we can stop there on the way home.”

the  blonde shook  her  head,  a  chuckle falling  from  her  lips  at  her  question. “  i  mean,  only  to  see  that  surprised  look  on  your  face  ”  avery  teased. “  it’s  not  that  i  know  the  owner  …  i’m  dating  the  owner  ”  she  smirked, “  but  yeah,  i’ll  still  consider  myself special  ”  avery  chuckled.  

“Please don’t run away with merchandise, I’m begging.” In all honesty, Ivy would let Avery raid her store and walk out with whatever she wanted. Perks of owning the store and being willing to spoil her own girlfriend. The only issue was people noticing and thinking Ivy would let that slide with anyone else. “But between you and me, I’ll probably never charge you. I’ll just make it look like I am,” she admitted, grinning at Avery.

avery  left  the  skirt  on  the  counter,  a  wide  smile  on  her  lips  as  she  looked at  ivy  behind it.  “  the  real  question here  is,  if  i  decided to  run  away  with  this  skirt  without paying,  would  you  run  after  me  ?  ”  she  asked  teasingly. “  i  would  say  you’ll  never  catch  me,  but  you  have  long  legs  so  you  probably  would  ”  the  blonde  laughed, taking  her  wallet out  of  her  bag.  “  i’m  sure  i  you  didn’t  know  i’d  be  the  random  costumer of  the  day  ”

“Better question, would you make me run after you?” Ivy asked, brows furrowed at her girlfriend with the tiniest hint of a smirk on her face. She knew that Avery would never do that, but in theory they were the same height. “You’re the first customer of the day, actually. Consider yourself special, and not only because you know the shop owner,” she teased, flashing her a grin.
