I…it doesn’t matter.

It’s not…Have you ever known something was over, something was done, and even know that you had moved on, but revisiting it still made you sad? You still mourned it? I’m not sure I’m making sense.

I think you're making complete sense, as unfortunate as it is. And that makes me think we've been doing similar soul-searching. I haven't been looking for a ladylove, but I was looking for someone important to me. Some things -- even some people -- may be best left alone.

I specified because I didn’t want you to think I wasn’t over her. I was wildly in love with her, but she turned out to be less than awesome. Going back home reminded me of just how less than she was.

Ah, visiting old flames tends to be disappointing. Everyone grows up and changes and we never really stay sixteen or twenty forever, do we? Strange to know time doesn't stop even when you aren't watching someone.

Years of searching had led to only a moment in time -- a blip on a radar -- and had left Ivy feeling more jaded than any other point of her life. She hadn't felt so hurt even when she was given a job as a temp despite her evident journalistic skills, and she certainly didn't feel so poorly when her left -- actually, it was just the opposite. Those moments seemed almost joyful in comparison to the ordeals Ivy had went through in the past month.

It had started off innocent enough -- searching for a not-technically-missing persons as she worked on bogus editorials and paragraphs on litter -- but it transformed into a near-obsession as soon as she had found one solid lead. She had taken off work and had nearly lost her job as she searched for the one person who had propelled her life forward without even realizing it. And when she found what she was looking for...?

Ivy sucked in a shuddering gasp as she lifted from the shroud of too-hot water in the basin of her porcelain tub, her fingers spiderwebbing to grip at the edges while she cleared her mind of anything that wasn't useful. Nearly a month -- or maybe just over a month, she didn't know -- without being in her own apartment seemed like too long as water began to drain with the sounds of strained suction and sloshing. If she stayed in one place too long, her mind would begin to wander and Ivy couldn't bear to hold onto one thought for too long.

So she left the warm surface of her tub as soon as most of the water was drained. Wrapping herself in her towel, fumbling with her hair as she made her way through her room and poked about in drawers until she found a suitably comfortable shirt and a pair of matching bottoms that she donned with no great amount of speed. Only when she was comfortable enough did she wrap her hair in a towel and head for her living room.

She needed something -- a distraction -- and so without a second thought she booted up her laptop and curled up into her favorite corner of her couch. Unless something drastic happened in a short amount of time, it appeared as if her night would be spent online... and, for some reason, she wasn't entirely opposed to the idea.
