Hypothesise this. Art is ubiquitous; it is in everything we do, we see, we hear, we feel, we believe, we think, we perceive, we doubt, we questions, we taste, we dislike, we like, we love, we hate. But of course, it is not a dichotomy but rather an awe-inspiring spectrum. What is art but the complimentary effect of perception and expression? You might disagree with this notion, after all, what art means to me might mean something else to you, which is exactly the point. Art doesn’t follow any strict equation, it is not mathematics. But mathematics can be art, which I suppose also means that art can be mathematics. So if you have an equation, go ahead and use it. I have diverted, the point is art doesn’t fit a box; hello, it can, in fact, surpass dimensions. Dimensions are collapsed and build from scratch. Then why do we fit our constrains? Surpass them.
How this works?
Imagine a chain or rather a web or rather webs or rather a dimension. This is what we aim to do. An artist creates an art work based on a theme, whatever art is to them, from baking cookies to cleaning the house to writing a sonnet to making a film, and then passes it on to someone else who, inspired by the first art work, creates their own piece, and then passes it on to someone else. This chain continues, until it is no longer a chain. Until it is a web, then slowly it transforms into plurality: webs, then it becomes a dimension. Let us aim to collaborate with the whole world, let us try to be free from the limits of ‘high-brow’ and ‘low-brow’ and ‘that’s not art, you idiot’. The strange things is, perhaps it shall come to pass that the first piece does not resemble the later pieces at all, and a viewer might not be able to see the connection immediately. But that is because even though art has always been attacked for being unoriginal, it is anything but that. Art takes inspiration, and it inspires too. But everyone’s perception is so personal that every work will inevitably be original in some form or the other. After all, humanity is universal but humans are individual. The umbrella theme to inaugurate this collaborative piece/this movement is ‘social causes’. You can either choose to start a chain, or come in and take part later on. You are encouraged to start. This project is still in its Beta stage, we still have a long way to go, I will be grateful for any help you can provide me with. We will try our best to map out this process, detailing the chains and creating artistic profiles through a website. If you are interested, please contact me, here’s a link to my tumblr.
