life lately

i put in my notice at work to step down the same day we lay off our entire staff, shut the doors, remodel + rebrand and come back as something totally new. I was really hoping to get through the change because the new concept is theoretically a great idea but yet, the things that make me unhappy and cause me stress and anxiety will not change. they are embedded in the culture and leadership above me. we’re going corporate and that’s just not me. they’re oblivious to what’s its actually like on the ground. I can’t deal with that disconnection.

and the whole laying everyone off thing makes me feel so icky. i “Get it” from a business perspective but sitting in that meeting where we tell my team -some of which are my friends, all of which i respect as people - that they no longer have a job is just..... going to fucking suck on so many levels. hoping my established connection with them and the fact that i’m leaving when they are is enough solidarity that we can get through the final few weeks together. i fought for them as much as possible every step of the way and I have to be ok knowing that even if they can’t or don’t see it.

and besides that, who wants to work for 55 hours doing something you dislike? I’m likely getting a job serving at a fancy spot downtown that will pay my bills and give me ample free time to enjoy life again.

it’s why i finally purchased the final pieces to finish my weavings. it’s why i am getting ready to build up a fitness routine again. it’s why i bought a bunch of veggies for the yard. so that i can find joy in all of it. in creating and moving and nurturing.

we’ll see. all i know is if you aren’t happy and have any possible way to change it, then you MUST. it’s essential for your survival.

i made us a great bomblet this morning, cleaned up the living room then bought myself some good quality lip pencils and liners and ordered an at home fitness guide because fuck it why not.

but really because I’m really uninspired by the work i have to do and i’m to the point of avoiding it which wont help but here we are anyway.
