Pairing: Ben Solo x reader Word Count: 1.4k T/W: Fluff! A/N: for an anon’s request: “dad!ben solo hcs? where he’s just happy to be free of palpatine and he realises how at peace he is looking at his wife and children cooking/together”, I’m so so sorry it took me this long!!!

Staring at his reflection in the mirror, Ben blinked a few times, but then sharply winced. He thought the flashbacks had been subsiding, but every now and again they came back with a sharp pain of the life he used to know: Palpatine, the first order, and everything that came with it. It wasn’t long, thankfully, and he quickly gathered himself, swallowing harshly and opening his eyes again. His chest felt heavy, but he grounded himself with a deep breath. He looked down to steady his shaking hands and heard a sudden burst of giggles, to which he smiled widely.

It was coming from the kitchen, not too far from where he was. The girlish giggles easily echoed throughout the small house on Tatooine. Ben again looked up, this time with a soft smile he couldn’t damper if he tried. Knowing his daughters were safe and happy made him feel something he never thought he’d be able to. This time the emotions got the best of him as he heard another outburst, he chuckled hearing your voice trying to parent them best you could without laughing, yourself. As Ben shook his head overhearing everything, a few tears, evoked by the overwhelming feelings, fell.

“Ben Solo!” He heard you yell, but could still hear the faltering laugh in your attempt to be serious as you came down the hallway to find him. Quickly he tried drag away the tears with the ends of his shirt sleeves, “your daughters are about to start a house fi-”

“Hey,” he whispered with a smile and glistening eyes.
