Mapping the evidence

A key part of the IZA World of Labor project is our interactive evidence map feature, geomapping the available data for any of our articles.

They’re a great visual way of showing how the geographical spread of evidence. Douglas Webber’s paper on the return to education is a striking example.

At a glance, a policymaker can see that the evidence base is particularly strong in Western Europe and in the US. If they want to dig deeper and find out more, then they can directly access the evidence from the map (paywalls permitting).

Even if an evidence map does not show such a wide spread, as is the case for some of our papers, this can be an indicator perhaps of where further research could be done.
