This drawings is really comforting to me.
The camp is quiet except for the crickets and the sound of the water. Cody sits at the edge of the dock, legs dangling above the water, staring at his reflection. Getting lost in his thoughts. He hears footsteps behind him.
āMost people come out here because theyāre having a crisis. If youāre planning one, Iād like to schedule mine for after youāre done.ā Noah says as he approaches the dirty blonde haired boy
Cody lets out a small laugh but doesnāt look away from the water
āIām notā¦ I just needed air. Today was..for the most part rough.ā cody sighed
Noah sat beside him, sitting cross legged Heās silent for a moment
āYouāve been quieter lately. Which is concerning because your always annoying me about how Gwen rejected you for the 5th time this weekāā Noah said looking over at cody
Cody sighs, leaning back on his arms.
āno no, nothing like that. I guess Iāve been feeling kind ofā¦ invisible. Everyone here has some big personality. And Iām justā¦ meā¦ theres nothing special about meā Cody dug his face into his hands. Feeling embarrassed since he doesn't like being seen like this.
Especially not in front of Noah.
Noah glances at him, eyes softer than usual.
āāJust you is pretty much the reason this place isnāt completely unbearable..and your not boring..at times..I guessā Noah looked at the lake
Cody finally looks at him, confused.
Noah swallows, looking anywhere but Cody.
āNoahā¦ are you actually bein nice?!"
āDonāt make it weird. Iām attempting honesty. Itās painful, especially when your making that..face at meā Noah sweated trying to hide his soft smile
Cody laughs again
āI appreciate it. Really. I didnāt think anyone noticed how I was feeling.ā Cody touched the back of his neck shyly
āI noticed.ā
āI always notice you.ā
Noah turns a shade of red after admitting that

Cody blinks, his cheeks turning pink.
āWhatā¦ what does that mean?ā
Noah lets out a breath like if he's gonna rip off a band-aid
āIt means that I care about you.. Uhh More than I probably should for someone who hates the Entire human population.ā Noah shudders
Codyās eyes widen, and his voice comes out low and genuine
āNoahā¦ I care about you too. Likeā¦ a lot..heh..ā Cody does his signature dorky chuckle while looking like a tomato
Noah turns to him fully now, nervous in a way Cody has never seen.
āSo weāre both idiots who didnāt say anything until we were sitting at a creepy lake in the middle of the night?ā Noah lightens the mood
āPretty much.ā
Thereās a quiet, warm tension..Cody shifts closer, their shoulders brushin against each others both of them still pretending itās an accident.
āFor what itās worthā¦ I really like you.ā Cody admits while looking up at noah
Noah looks at him
āYeah. I really like you too.ā

Cody grins again, bright, genuine, the kind that makes noah look away because it makes Noah's face turn red
āSoā¦ what happens now?ā Cody notices Noah's flustered state
āWell nothing too dramatic. But knowing this islandā¦ probably a challenge involving bears and sharkā Noah makes a joke
Cody nudges him playfully.
āI meantā¦ with usā Cody laughs at Noah's playful response
Noahās voice softens again.
āWe take it one day at a time. Together.ā
Codyās smile widens as he leans his head lightly on Noahās shoulder. Noah tenses and then relaxes, letting the moment happen
The lake makes noises quietly beneath the stars as the two of them sit close, finally on the same page
