Throwback to the first time I played New Vegas, and, with vaquero Raul as my companion, started Wang Dang Atomic Tango and thought for a solid moment too long that I could get Raul to work for the Garetts. You cannot. I wish this was a unique interaction, it would be so fucking funny.

A portrait of the Belmonte Family (the noble family which my current D&D PC, Sylvia, comes from)

wrote a little blurb below, feel free to read

Sylvia watched as the large portrait was hung in the main room, right above the grand fireplace. It was her in the painting, sure. It looked just like her. Yet, when her gaze fell upon her own empty eyes, there was no sense of recognition. She couldn't have even been bothered to try to smile for the portrait session. Not even a hint.

She wanted to skip out on it. Would her parents have noticed if she did? Surely they would, it would be in poor taste to have a family portrait with one member missing... even if said member was hardly part of the family in the first place.

Just as in the portrait, Sylvia constantly stood in the shadow of her brother. She pretended she didn't mind. With fewer eyes on her, she could sneak out unnoticed and generally fly under the radar. But still, deep down, she couldn't ignore the pang of some feeling she couldn't quite place when Alexander, Aurelia, and Kieran got to be the picture-perfect high elven noble family. Was it hurt? Jealousy, maybe? Why couldn't she be a part of this? She hadn't even done anything wrong.

She shook her head and sighed, pushing the feelings down. Still dressed in her noble regalia, she grabbed her cloak and walked out of her front door. Why bother sneaking out when your family didn't notice anyhow? She wasn't sure where she'd go, she just needed to be away from... all of this. Perhaps she'd check out the caravan that just stopped into town...

i was wondering why gale’s death cutscene wasn’t triggering

So, Gale died in the Grym fight and I was wondering why I didn't get the convo cutscene for his death. I've already done the quest in other playthroughs so I knew what to do, so I don't really need it anyway. I figured maybe I triggered it earlier and forgot/never finished because technically I'd never finished the "In Case of Death" quest. Whatever. Don't really need it. I went through the steps with my Tav because I remembered but then just used a regular scroll on him since I'm planning to long rest anyway and wanted to save the True Resurrection scroll.

So, I try to get the group to take a short rest because obviously we're all beat up and I don't like seeing everyone at such low hp just in case we get into another fight. I get a notification that one of my party members is engaged in something and can't short rest. I'm like, "huh?" That's when I see… Shadowheart's Spiritual Weapon is in a conversation with Spectral Gale. The image of this spirit weapon in a conversation is so funny and I wish I caught it sooner because this is hilarious.

like please this is so funny wdym his dumbass ghost talked to the spirit weapon because it was the closest entity

new character art dump since i haven't posted in a while. the basics: her name is Sylvia Belmonte. She's a High Elf Circle of the Stars Druid with a Noble background. She ran away after witnessing a horrible family secret. She traveled with her caravan friends until one day they went off track and got lost in the wilds. Her group was attacked by strange monsters, leaving her as the only survivor. She was rescued, taken in, and eventually trained in her druidic powers by a group called the Charred Lanterns. It's been super fun so far. More about her below if you're interested.

so my friend started a new campaign based around this faction in his world called the Charred Lanterns, a group established to "provide light to the dark parts of the world." basically, they scout and survey uncharted lands, establish safe havens for travelers, and help any who find themselves lost in the wilderness. so, enter Sylvia Belmonte, my Circle of Stars Druid.

Born into the noble Belmonte family as the "youngest" daughter (she was born minutes after her older twin brother), Sylvia always flew under the radar. Traditionally, the Belmonte family only had one child, one heir to pass on the assets to. Sylvia was a surprise. Thus, she was often able to dodge whatever responsibilities or lessons and such her parents had set up.

She found solace and friendship in a caravan that came to her town. Due to bad conditions, the caravan had to stay just outside the town for a winter, during which Sylvia found herself almost at home with them.

Then, her parents revealed that she would be in an arranged marriage with another noble from the next town over. Sylvia dreaded this, and as she prepared to run, she stumbled upon a dark family secret: the reason her family continued to hold money and influence. Blood sacrifices and dark magic. Scared for her life, she ran, joining the caravan for good.

Life with the caravan was good. Finally, it felt like she was part of a family. That was until the worst happened. They got lost in the unforgiving wilds. They were attacked one night by strange monsters. By some stroke of luck, or perhaps a sick joke, Sylvia was the only survivor.

She was saved by a group of Charred Lanterns. They offered to take her home, but she refused. She would not go back to her birth family. Instead, she joined the Lanterns, honing her druidic powers until the beginning of our campaign.

I'm going to cut myself off before I write out a novel here. Hope you enjoyed :)

"Why is it so bloody quiet?" The salty sea air lightly stings Cassandra's face as she leans on the railing. "Surely there should be more… noise?" she says to no one, her voice lost on the wind. She is alone. "Survivor…" A whisper from no one rings in her head. Survivor. That's a word for what she was, she supposed. She certainly felt the guilt of a survivor. It weighed down on her in the emptiness of her home. She opens the locket, stares lovingly, and longingly, at the photos inside. Everything she'd taken for granted, never thought twice about-- their laughter, their footsteps, the sounds of life, all gone. Her home, her life, just… empty. She is alone. She lets out a heavy sigh. No. She won't succumb to those thoughts. She closes the locket, letting it fall back against her chest. She has to do this… for them. Survivor…

In other words: My DM is very good at torturing their players

i have been wanting to design Cassandra's sword for a while now and I just finished this up. It's a family heirloom that she thought was hanging above the mantle of her parents' home, so when she found it in her purse, she was pretty shocked. this being said, it has served her well so far, so she's not gonna complain. I also imagine it's like Percy Jackson's pen-sword. Like when not in sword mode, it looks like a little eye trinket, but when she needs it to be a sword, it becomes a sword.
