Presentation of project
Inspired by Ragged Egde’s Mindful Chef project I wanted to put my final images online so they could sit alongside my animations. I really liked the way it looks and I feel it successfully tells the story of the brand. I like the mix of product photography, typography and colour.
Website inspiration
I initially wasn’t sure if I would have time to design a website (just mock one up) however it turns out I do, so I began looking at other brands for inspiration.
JENKI
I love the visual style of Jenki, a brand that sells matcha. It’s super minimal but has a really strong colour palette, and strong imagery. Due to it’s simplicity it’s really easy for the customer to navigate, unlike some website which are overloaded with text.
KANKAN London
Similarly to Jenki, KANKAN London has a super clean and minimalistic approach to their website. KANKAN London sell refillable liquid soaps, body wash, baby wash and hand washes. I like how they have illustrations that demonstrate their brand ethos / values.
MINOR FIGURES
I revisited the alternative milk brand Minor Figures, because I loved their packaging and was interested to see their website. It’s full of their fun illustrations, and even included a game. It also has really modern / on trend photography shots, and has a section for their merchandise.

Instagram Inspiration
I looked at some brands on instagram for inspiration before I began designing posts and thinking about content. These were my favourite brand profiles, because I think they have a really strong variety of posts e.g. a good mixture of product photography / life style posts, typographically led / graphic posts, and shorts videos / gifs. I wanted to make sure I had a mixture of these kinds of posts to make my brands instagram as engaging and eye catching as possible, because social media is one of the most effective ways to capture your audience and this is only achieved in a really short amount of time - you don’t want possible customers uninterested or bored when they come across your brand.

Rabea Tea
Rabea Tea is one of the most beloved Saudi Arabian Tea brands, It has been ranked among the top 100 local Saudi brands for the year 2013, and became “The House of Quality Tea.” Its leading packaging has also topped the market shelves and "Points of Sale" across the Kingdom.
This brand caught my attention because they use pouches to package their tea, as I am doing for my project. It was useful to see how they designed for the pouch, and this gave me a lot of inspiration. They also have packages for tea bags, which is something I could also consider? Could I do both? I also like the way they have mocked up their products on Dimensions, and used objects such a tea pots and cups to give it that lifestyle feel.

Photoshoot
Mood boards I made for Ella to help her visualise and understand the aesthetic I wanted for the photoshoot.
I found these adverts and I really like the use of typography combined with product photos. I thought it could be interesting to do something similar, maybe with the bacteria illustrations - they could be a still image as well as a gif / animation.

Poster research
As part of the project I want to create a small campaign for the brand which will include poster adverts for each kit, and promotional material across social media (this will also involve me making an Instagram account for Joyful Jars).
Mindful Chef

Ragged Edge created the brand identity for Mindful Chef, a brand that inspires and motivates people to eat healthily. They do this through recipe packages sent to people’s homes for them to make good food.
Mindful Chef is a great example of a brand with strong touch points, ranging from the box itself to apps and editorial design. They include fun and attractive gifs too, which sum up the brand and are appealing to those looking into Mindful Chef. They also do a lot of product photography, which I aim to include in my project.

Interim Critique
ALLEA
‘ALLEA is a brand of gastronomic products with a social vision and mission to support children and young kids by giving back 100% of the profits.’
I was really drawn to the array of colours used in the packaging coupled with the light patterns running across the products. The packaging does a really effective job of highlighting the the brands ethos of positivity and cheerfulness.
I found this project inspiring because I am trying to incorporate patterns into my designs, and ALLEA does this really beautifully. All the colours used compliment each other and aren’t overwhelming.
