I’m curious. Have you ever met anyone off the computer?

No I can’t say that I have. But I’ve also just only started to branch out and actually talk to people online. I haven’t had a lot of chances to do so.

I’ve met people in person and then talk to them online.

Oh no, I don’t do that. I just don’t talk about everything. I don’t really like lying to people. So I usually try to find a way to answer a question or explain something as truthful as I can without giving too many personal details. If that makes sense.

Like.. If someone asks why I decided to travel at such a young age. I usually just say that I was looking for someplace to be myself. But don’t really go beyond the surface to explain why I needed that in the first place.

Which I understand. Most people I talk to online I want to keep as just that. I question if they’re honest about who they are. Or we might not be able to have an actual conversation when face to face.

There is the creepy element, too. Not with many thank God.

Exactly, there are too many variables with meeting people in person. I don’t like it. Keeping people on the other side of a computer screen seems like the best way to live really.

Why half truths? Are you worried the story wouldn’t be fascinating on it’s own? Or is it a means to not fully share an actual experience of yours?

It may seem simple but it doesn’t mean it is.

Once again they slid into a silence. His mind finally focused on the words of his book, even when he could hear that gentle yet incredibly persistent sound of her thoughts. Her question had Julian looking up again. The further explanation had him chuckling with a shake of his head. “I read.” He began to answer slowly as he closed his book and set it down. “I write.” He continued as he took the earbud out of his other ear. “I also like to do photography when I have the urge. Not professional.” His hands ran through his hair as he sighed softly. “Other than that I would say random acts of rebellion and crime fill up my days.” By the end of his little answer, he was looking at Isabel with a tilt of his head. “What about you? Do you do anything other besides drawing?”

Izzie tilted her head slightly as he answered her. He was obviously creative if he like writing and photography. The random acts of rebellion and crime weren’t too interesting if you asked her. “ So you’re the attractive, creative rebel with a heart of gold type?” her lips curled ever so slightly as she spoke. a light hint of playfulness lacing her words. Izzie’s shoulder’s shrugged a bit when he turned the question back on her. “I paint, read, take pictures of nature. No random acts of rebellion or crime. I like to keep a low profile kind of life.” though she felt like her running away and traveling the world was one very large act of rebellion. But that wasn’t something she needed to share with him. “Are you a good writer?” she pulled her focus out of her mind and back to him.

What's your go-to karaoke song?

I’m not really a Karaoke kind of girl. I barely like saying my coffee order loud enough for people to hear me. Let alone getting on stage to sing a sone in front of them.

He shrugged softly in a non-committal fashion. Julian wasn’t against being drawn. Not specifically anyway. “No. It’s fine.” He finally vocalized his feelings about the whole thing. Part of him wanted her to stop. Wanted her focus to turn away so he didn’t have to hear the whispering but he had to admit - her honesty was nice. She thought something and she said something. Gave her a check mark on the good side in his book. If he recalled she was like that at their first meeting too. Refreshingly honest.The smile he offered her was genuine and it felt out of place on his face, so he hid it behind his cup of coffee.

Izzie gave a little node as the corner of her lips curled gently into a smile. “Okay,” she chimed lightly before allowing her hand to move again. She moved on to his lips, sketching out the smile he hid behind his coffee cup. The suttle move made her brow raise slightly. She wondered how often he actually smiled. Not just forced it on to his face for the benefit of strangers. It was a habit she knew all too well. Either way, she made a note in her mind that she liked his smile. She was quiet for a few moments more before she decided she wanted to speak. “Do you do anything other than read?” she asked. Her hand stilling for a moment. “That came out wrong, do you have other hobbies... yeah that’s the right way to put it.” she sighed a little at herself. She was never good at small talk. But she felt like sitting in silence while she drew him was a level of intimacy that she didn’t know how she felt about.

What type do you like? I have chamomile and jasmine that I’ve yet to open. Why is it that when you want to sleep the most it’s when your mind decides to keep you awake?

I think the stuff I drink is just chamomile. But Chamomile and Jasmine sound good. Also, I feel like our bodies and minds can never agree on the proper sleep protocol.

For me the 2nd step is when I meet the person I’ve talked to, though meeting people online is new to me. I suppose it does, to an extent. You don’t your only means of socialization to be online.

I guess that is a good step two. I haven’t really decided if I want to actually meet these people.

Hm. Now I think about it I’m not one for storytelling, either. Not that I’ve given it much of a chance before. How hard can it be? You share an experience and that’s essentially it, isn’t it?

Its the sharing part I usually have the trouble with. You kind of have to be a reasonably open person to really share meaningful experiences with people. This is my downfall. I usually only tell half-truths which kind of dilutes the story as a whole, making it pointless to really share with anyone.

But this could just be me over think a simple concept...

His focus wavered the longer they sat there quietly. The longer she moved her hands over her page. Scratching from the pencil breath quiet compared to the sounds of the people around them. Still, her mind was close. She was focused. Damn focused on him. It made ignoring the wisps of thoughts coming from her more difficult. After a moment, Julian resisted the urge to sigh and let his eyes look upward at Isabel. Catching her eyes for a moment he couldn’t stop her thought from becoming his. Personally, he thought every part of him was pretty. “Trying to immortalize me?” He questioned with a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.

Her hand paused when their eyes met. Her head tilting slightly at his question. “you’re pretty,” slipped from her lips simply. As if it was silly of him to think she wouldn’t sketch him. Glancing back down she finished off the lines she’d been drawing at that moment. “If it bothers you,” she looked back up at him. She chewed at her lip a little. “I can stop.” was added with a little sigh. She didn’t particularly want to. But she figured it was only fair to give him the option. Seeing as she was kind of staring at him this whole time. She’d heard it could be quite invasive for a person.
