The issue with the LOTF bbc show and why i hate it is because it was POORLY filmed and written. Idc honestly for it not being similar to the book, and that truly doesn't really affect my opinion. I enjoy some media that take their own spin on books, truly.

IM MAD BECAUSE Jack Thorne is clearly aware of how bad he produced this show because he won't tell us the budget and barely does interviews about it.

The visual SUCKED, the overlay filters and the jump cuts, and the placement of actors and such didn't make sense?! I've seen YouTube and tiktoks with better visuals than this show.

The dialog most of the time felt clunky, as well the storytelling and the story pacing was horrible, and I've seen better pacing in the gacha life mini series. Which lotf was in production for about three years. So there is zero reason it had to be written like that.

Now we can estimate how much LOTF cost based on how much he got for his first production (which was around 40 million at the time) so we can estimate that he got probably more for LOTF.

Let's compare it to others show/movies made around when it was produced and its embarrassing.

If this was released in the early 2010s then YES it would look amazing. But with the budget we can estimate and the position Jack throne has from this other show. This was embarrassing.

If yall care for a deeper dive into why I think LOTF BBC sucked and actual well written ponits, I will. This was quickly made and I've been thinking of it.

The only reason I care for it because it helped younger actors get their names out there. The only part I feel was well written was Simon and Jack Relationship. Which is sad because there were real actual more important connections in the book he could've emphasized instead of one he made up.

At this point, the way the LOTF bbc was written it comes off more as a fanfic, which is no hate because LOTF in its own is a The Coral Island fanfiction.

Okay I'm sick of no one pointing this out. This artist has continuously whitewashed Winston in their drawings of BBC Ralph and still gets support on every post.

Here is a direct color pick from this artists drawings of BBC Ralph vs Winstion's actual skin tone.

If you aren't willing to take 5 seconds out of your day to color pick/find a skintone that matches the person you want to draw then just dont draw them.

You do not need to draw BBC Ralph if you aren't going to put effort into it. Just draw your book designs if you're so desperate to draw white Ralph.

You as an artist need to do better.
