It was hard to remained alarmed at the portal's appearance when several children stepped out of it. Especially how the youngest and shortest of the bunch was trying to get "Older Jodie's" attention.

The older Jodie in question had been regathering and organizing his weapons, fully prepared to go to war against some magical cards. He briskly walks towards them with an off-handed wave.

"You got shorter." Xe pauses. "Children...don't do that?"

Yeah not normally!! But my magic sometimes backfires... like in case!! I got younger?

Jodie chuckles awkwardly.

So yeah? I'm younger now? I also can grow taller or shorter randomly. I'm not a normal kid?

I don't know older Jodie!

He sighs.

Anyways, I brought the cards! So do you want to draw from them with me? Or have you pussied out? What will it be!

Jodie shrugs when the younger one laughed, accepting this explanation. Wild magic was a fickle thing, after all, as with most things.

But the younger version of, well, the younger version of himself from another timeline was somehow more annoying. And this is why Jodie didn't like children.

Only if you never say "pussied out" ever again.

Jodie smiles widely.

I won't say it again, probably!!

Now, I don't normally have somebody else draw from these decks with me. As it's usually just me, or my bodyguards watching me.

He sighs.

I'm assuming we just use the deck how it's supposed to be used normally, just now with two people?

I don't know.

Jodie pretends to think about this for a moment.

One of us draws all of our cards at a time, I imagine. Or we could each draw one card at a time? We have two decks--we could start with one then move on to the other.

Xe shrugs.

Well, nothing about this is normal.

We each draw one card at a time, I think it'd work similar to how the deck normally works.

Just with us taking turns to have the effects happen.

Jodie shrugs, not really caring.

How about we start with the deck of many things, since I know this one better.

I'll go first for our draw order!!

He smirks, hand the deck of fates to one of his bodyguards, not caring which one takes it. He looks at Revenge and then the deck of many things.

I will draw 5 cards.

He draws his first card, looking at it.

The Fates are drawn and then vanishing from thin air.

That's the second time I've drawn before that card... Your turn!

He holds the deck out to Revenge.

Jodie nods, watching the younger one care a lot less than he should. Didn't he know how dangerous these decks were? Oh well--it worked in Jodie's favor if the younger one and the bodyguards were foolish enough to do this.

After The Fates is drawn, Revenge looks at the deck with weary apprehension. This deck had been the direct cause of nearly all xems problems...but it could be the solution.

So he ignores the anxious feeling and draws a card silently--without announcing a number. The card drawn is Flame, and Jodie shrugs as it vanishes.

What's another enemy?

He laughs, if only to hide its own nervousness.

Oh yeah, that one can suck. Though I think I killed the demon who hated me so! It doesn't matter to me!!

Jodie shrugs. He smiles at Revenge.

My turn!!

He draws his next card.

He draws Knight and he rolls his eyes.

Another one huh... that's the fourth time now.

While he watches the card vanish like the last one, another person appears by the rest of the bodyguards.

The person looks at Teen, who had been looking around for the new person before seeing them. He waves at them, seeing them wave back.

Hello there, what's your name? You got the same motives as the others??

The person hums in acknowledgment.

Hello. My name is Azure. I am here to protect you, as you summoned me to your aid. You can also just call me Blue. It's one of my nicknames.

Azure stands there, looking more different than the other three guards. His horns were ram like, and he was more ram like in general. Standing on legs that looked more ram than human or demon. Along with his ears that were more ram like. He held himself tall despite being shorter than both Don and Morgana.

Jodie nods.

Cool! That's great! Welcome, I guess.

He looks at Revenge, sighing.

Number four for the bodyguard count now. I wonder how many will show up before I start leaving them at home. Anyways! Your turn! Let's see what you draw next!

you...think so? i'd rather know, so...i'll look into it.

Jodie laughs with genuine amusement as the Knight card is drawn by the younger one for...the fourth time? Yeah, fourth. He doesn't say anything to the newcomer, just gives a short wave before focusing back on the deck.

Jodie pulls another card from the deck, and laughs in an outburst quite unlike xem. The Knight card, yet again! A demon appears next to Revenge, grinning at the group with a particular sparkle in her eyes.

jesus christ--hello!

The fighter waves--her appearance isn't reminiscent of Jodie, but more similar to Zhao. She had short, red horns poking out from curly orange hair that has been pulled back into a ponytail. The demon's armor didn't look particularly useful, being a pauldron instead of a full suit of armor.

my name is Entropeia, it's an honor to fight by your side.

After introducing herself, she curtsies.

Jodie waves at Entropeia.

Welcome!!

He smiles.

So in total. Between us two, we've drawn Knight five times!!

He looks at the deck.

My turn again!!

He draws his next card.

He looks at the Sun card in his hand before it vanishes, and then what appears in his hands is some fabric. He frowns.

I don't know what this is.

Oh well!

He hands it to Don, who hadn't been holding anything.

You keep that for me for now. Your turn again Older Jodie!

I only got two more cards to draw! And then I can move to the next deck!!

The Sun card was a good draw--Jodie recognized what the item was, but decided not to comment on it when the younger one hands it to Don. They'd figure it out eventually.

Jodie, with a bit more confidence, draws another card from the deck and immediately becomes much more confident after drawing Moon. This cheating bastard gets 3 uses of the Wish spell.

He glances over at Entropeia, and subtly gestures to the deck. She claps gleefully and suddenly moves to draw a card from the Deck of Many Things, revealing the Star card.

oh, how fun!

He draws again, drawing Comet.

Hmm! It's nice that it's not bad?

He watches the card vanish like the rest of the cards have been disappearing.

Azure steps forward looking at the deck.

I'll draw two cards.

He draws a card, drawing the throne card.

Huh... I'm assuming that's a good card?

She looks to the older Jodie for permission, which he is a bit bewildered by. But he nods, and she draws Gem. A collection of 50,000 GP in gold and gems, tied shut inside a satchel, drops at her feet.

Jodie draws while Entropeia is examining the gems--revealing the Balance card. He looks at the card in sheer panic and drops it as if it had burned xem. But, of course, it vanishes like the rest of the drawn cards.

He takes a step back and laughs, clapping its hands together and grinning widely--a sort of chaotic look in xems eyes. Entropeia looks significantly more concerned.

are you okay?

She taps Jodie's shoulder, and he looks over at her.

yeah! nice to be working with you, entropeia!

Jodie draws his last card, not caring to pay attention to the fact Older Jodie drew Balance.

He draws Jester and draws two more cards.

He draws Visier and Sun.

Another item appears in his hands. He hands it off to Don again.

Nothing bad happened to me this time. Yay!

Are you okay, Older Jodie? We still have another deck to draw from. Just different type of deck...

Azure draws their last card.

He draws Key, the card disappearing, and then a weapon appearing in his hands. They twirl the axe in their hand. It's mostly black with a purple glowing effect over it.

He rolls Arcana on the axe (Nat 20), and he knows that it's enchanted. They smile.

Oh! This feels much better than any weapon I could be given. Fire aspect, some mending and unbreaking is pretty good. Could be better, but I'll take what I can get!

Entropeia nods as Jodie draws a last card from the Deck of Many Things after both Teen!Jodie and Azure finish drawing from the decks. Another Knight spawns--one that doesn't seem as excitable as Entropeia.

Oh, gosh, hello--uh, I'm Kassander. You can call me Kas.

Entropeia pats Kassander's shoulder in a greeting, as she draws her own final card from the deck. She draws Sun, and immediately gains 50,000 XP (getting to level 7 from 4). A small blade drops into her hand as well.

sick!! okay, kas, your turn!

Entropeia playfully slaps Kas' back, and he draws from the deck as well. He draws Fool, and then is compelled to draw again--in which they draw Jester.

Oh, dear, okay. That's certainly a choice to make!

Kas looks up at the group, looking for some sort of assistance, but doesn't recieve any.

I suppose I'll draw two more cards?

He does so, drawing Key and Throne in succession. A sword appears in Kas' hands, and they now own a keep.

Jodie smiles. He waves at Kas.

Alright then!!! Look at us!! We did great! And nobody died!!

Next deck time!

He grabs the deck of many fates from Robert's hands, who had grabbed them when Jodie had just kind of sent them the way of the bodyguards.

So, I don't know how this deck works... I assume it's similar to the other deck.

I'm sure I just need to declare the amount I want to draw, and then I draw that many... I'm guessing.

So I will draw 7 cards from the deck of many fates! This can't go wrong!

He draws his first card from the deck of many fates.

He draws Doppelganger, the card coming to life, into an identical version of him.

This other version looks at Jodie.

Okay... uhhh... I'm gonna call you by your? Our? Whatever. Our middle name instead of Jodie. So nice to meet you Dante!! I'm Jodie, but you should know that.

Dante looks at Jodie and nods.

I do. I know that you are Jodie. Because we're the same person. I can accept going by our middle name instead of first name. Keeps us from confusing ourselves. I'm not going to draw any cards because I think Jodie has drawn enough cards for a lifetime for both of us.

The group watches on as the Deck of Many Fates creates a duplicate of Teen!Jodie. The two knights on Revenge's side don't say anything but quiet hellos to Dante.

Then, the three of them each draw their own card.

First, Jodie draws Spire (Choose a skill. You gain +2 to checks using that slkill. You gain proficiency in this skill if you did not already have it. Draw again.), then Doppleganger. The card comes to life, creating an identical version of xemself. The doppleganger isn't smiling, while the original Jodie is delighted.

The doppleganger immediately draws his weapon.

There is a pause of tense silence, then the lawful version of Revenge lowers his weapon--recognizing the space around them as the familiar 'home' of grey void-space.

fine. but i won't draw from that deck.

Next, Entropeia draws Titania (a fae queen offers a trade: if you sacrifice something extraordinarily precious to you, you may look at the top 3 cards of this deck and choose a card to draw). She has to think about this for a moment, unsure of what could matter to her in the few minutes she has existed. But Entropeia figures it out, taking her longsword and sacrificing it to the deck. She looks at Minotaur (your party is transported to the entrance of a labyrinth. The only escape is to find the center. A guardian Minotaur lurks somewhere within), Bastion (for the next 24 hours, you are completely impervious to physical harm), and Mercian Wolves (your party is hunted by a pack of 16 wolves). She chooses Bastion.

Finally, Kas draws Orchard (you gain the seed of a fruit tree. If you plant it, it grows to fruition in 7 days. Unless the tree is chopped down, it provides unlimited food and sustenance forever). He pockets the seed, deciding to deal with it later.

Jodie draws his next cards, drawing three of them.

He draws Masque (your appearance is irrevocably changed), Destrier (you gain a magical steed, I'm picking wolf out of the options), and Aperture (an interdimensional portal appears, leading to one place of your choosing, it stays for one hour)

He feels his face hurt a lot before stopping. He touches his own face, where it hurts and feels deep scars. He traces where they are. Following them from his mouth to his ear on both sides, both to the bottom and top of his ears.

Fucking hell... hate this!

He mutters. A magical wolf appears, Jodie looks at the wolf and pets the wolf.

This is nice. Good doggy.

A portal opens, and he looks at it. He sees that it leads back to his home on Earth. He looks back at the wolf, petting the wolf.

Nobody is going through that... I don't even know why it opened there.

Azure looks at the deck.

I'll draw two cards!

He draws the two cards from the deck.

He draws Titania and Masque.

His face burns a bright red as a mark appears on his left cheek. They trace the mark once it stops hurting as much. It's a deep scar in the shape of XD, with a small :) under it, and he groans.

I thought I was fucking done with this bullshit!! It's fine. It's fine!

He gets an offer from a fae queen to look at the next three cards in the deck and draw one in exchange for something precious to him. He doesn't have a lot of items with him, but he does take a photograph and hands it over. He doesn't let anybody see the photo. He sees the next three cards, which are Satyr, Covenant, and Spire. He picks Spire.

Covenant was convincing to me, but... I feel as if I shouldn't anger the gods more right now... especially with these stupid scars!! Not even a healing potion would heal these! I know because I've tried before... whatever!

Jodie looks at Revenge, the chaotic one. He looked tired, and it's obvious the spark he had earlier is gone. It left when the scars appeared.

Your turn... Though I do hate this deck... it is more scary than the deck of many things... don't like this deck... I want to eat something when we finish drawing from this deck... I'm hungry.

Revenge shrugs.

true! there are more dastardly consequences--let's stop once you're through with your cards.

After saying that they should stop, Revenge immediately draws Phantom (this card comes to life as an unkillable, implacable specter. It will follow you wherever you go, and may pass through walls in order to do so). He glances over his shoulder at a ghost that nobody else can see and looks away, horrified, but determined to deal with that at a later point.

Entropeia draws Spire, then draws Hound (you gain the loyalty of a magical animal companion, choosen from among the following: boar, crow, hound, monkey, or serpant). A magical monkey appears on her shoulder.

Kas draws Stag (choose any one being to designate as your quarry. You always know the location and status of your quarry. When you kill it, you immediately gain a level). He pauses for a moment, then looks over at the chaotic Revenge!Jodie--then nods, as if Revenge had said something out loud.

My quarry is Well Actually.

That seems to get the attention of the lawful Jodie, who perks up and stares at Kas with confusion.

The lawful Revenge!Jodie thinks about this for a moment, clearly having a rough time debating this. But finally, xe forces himself to move forward and draw a card. Shroud is revealed (you instantly lose all memories of your past. You retain all skills, levels, and abilities. You may only recover your memories through a wish, or divine intervention).

All of a sudden, this Jodie looks around at his surroundings and goes to ask a question, but is interrupted by his chaotic counterpart--who pulls out a sword and points it at xem.

you'd better go now, huh?

To that, the Jodie with no memories steps backwards into a portal (although unclear on who's) and vanishes from this void-realm.

Jodie looks at the deck. He knows it's his turn again, but he doesn't want to keep drawing. This is the first he's felt this scared in a while. He hadn't felt this scared in months at this point.

I don't want to draw more...

He mumbles. He frowns, glaring at the deck as if that'd make the deck disappear forever. He slowly grabs the entire deck, burning it as fast as he can.

He still has to draw three more cards, but as the deck burns in his hands, so do the rules he had been following unknowingly. He feels different after the deck burns, as if something instead of him has changed.

I don't want to draw more... I'm done. Done for good...

He grabs the other deck, the deck of many things, and burns that one, too. He piles the ashes of both decks together, glaring at it.

Can we get something to eat now? I'm hungry, and the decks haven't fulfilled my boredom... I think I just want to do something else to fulfill it.

After The Fates is drawn, Revenge looks at the deck with weary apprehension. This deck had been the direct cause of nearly all xems problems...but it could be the solution.

So he ignores the anxious feeling and draws a card silently--without announcing a number. The card drawn is Flame, and Jodie shrugs as it vanishes.

What's another enemy?

He laughs, if only to hide its own nervousness.

Oh yeah, that one can suck. Though I think I killed the demon who hated me so! It doesn't matter to me!!

Jodie shrugs. He smiles at Revenge.

He draws Knight and he rolls his eyes.

Another one huh... that's the fourth time now.

While he watches the card vanish like the last one, another person appears by the rest of the bodyguards.

The person looks at Teen, who had been looking around for the new person before seeing them. He waves at them, seeing them wave back.

Hello there, what's your name? You got the same motives as the others??

The person hums in acknowledgment.

Hello. My name is Azure. I am here to protect you, as you summoned me to your aid. You can also just call me Blue. It's one of my nicknames.

Jodie opens a portal to Revenge's void place. As he opens it and steps through, he becomes slightly younger. His face becoming more of a baby face and grow a few inches shorter.

He rolls his eyes. He looks around, waiting until his three bodyguards walk through the portal to close it.

HEY OLDER JODIE!! WE'RE HERE!!

He shouts, attempting to get Revenge's attention, where ever xe were.

It was hard to remained alarmed at the portal's appearance when several children stepped out of it. Especially how the youngest and shortest of the bunch was trying to get "Older Jodie's" attention.

The older Jodie in question had been regathering and organizing his weapons, fully prepared to go to war against some magical cards. He briskly walks towards them with an off-handed wave.

"You got shorter." Xe pauses. "Children...don't do that?"

Yeah not normally!! But my magic sometimes backfires... like in case!! I got younger?

Jodie chuckles awkwardly.

So yeah? I'm younger now? I also can grow taller or shorter randomly. I'm not a normal kid?

I don't know older Jodie!

He sighs.

Anyways, I brought the cards! So do you want to draw from them with me? Or have you pussied out? What will it be!

Jodie shrugs when the younger one laughed, accepting this explanation. Wild magic was a fickle thing, after all, as with most things.

But the younger version of, well, the younger version of himself from another timeline was somehow more annoying. And this is why Jodie didn't like children.

Only if you never say "pussied out" ever again.

Now, I don't normally have somebody else draw from these decks with me. As it's usually just me, or my bodyguards watching me.

I'm assuming we just use the deck how it's supposed to be used normally, just now with two people?
