SOME NOTES ON THE WORLDBUILDING THAT'LL BE RELEVANT HERE:

the mirrorworld - as the name indicates, it's a fantasy world accessed through a mirror. fairytales are truly happening there, though usually in a dark & twisted way. their state of development can be compared to the industrial age of our world. it's also a mirror in the very literal sense, having the same topography & countries, only with different names (austry = austria, vena = vienna, lorraine = france). One of the mirrors to enter hangs in the apartment of the Reckless family in NYC.

the goyl - they are a humanoid race with skin of stone living in the mirrorworld. for a long time they've stayed underground, dividied by the different stones their skin have (cornelian, jasper, onyx, moonstone, malachite) fighting among themselves. but now they have a king for the first time, Kami'en and with the strength of their union they are an unstoppable force conquering the Mirrorworld. Their weaknesses are sunlight (goyl eyes are very sensitive to it) and water.

the man-goyl - they are humans turned goyl by the curse of the dark fairy, Kami'en's lover. Thanks to her being injured by the goyl's claws makes human skin turn to stone. the man goyl are perfect soldiers, since they have the strength and endurance of a goyl, but the sunlight doesn't bother them as much. though there are rebels among them who believe they should fight both humans and goyl and take control.

the jade goyl - an old goyl legends tell the story of a unique goyl with jade skin, who will protect their king. many goyl believe they should serve Kami'en as bodyguard, while the man-goyl want the jade goyl as their leader in the rebellion. to everyone's horror it's Will who grows a skin of jade and now they're haunted by all sides of the conflict.

also if you’re will‘s friend - at this point there are two spare rooms in the reckless appartement & they will literally always let you crash there. usually he‘ll prepare jacob’s bedroom, because he rarely needs it anyway. their mother‘s former bedroom is a more touchy subject tho. will wants to give it a new purpose, perhaps as an actual guest room, but they couldn‘t bring themself to change anything in there yet.

will in o.uat is just him showing up in s.torybrooke like: so yeah i have a mirror in my flat that leads to a land with magic? my brother kinda lives there now? I‘m sure that‘s irrelevant?

give me a second to introduce you to 3 people who might also make an appearance/be mentioned in will's bg3 verse (bc they are important in every verse). I don't want to make full verses for them too, so this is just yupposed to give you a general idea.

jacob. will's older brother & a human rogue. he's made himself a name as one of the most successful treasure hunters in all of faerûn. in their childhood jacob protected will from every source of harm, but after their father's disappearance he grew more distant, staying away from home more & more. will still loves him a lot (and vice & versa) & they where desperately searching for a cure together when the hag cursed will with the stone skin. after being kidnapped, will now hopes to find jacob again in baldur's gate.

fox. a half elf & very talented shapeshifter, who prefers (surprise) a fox's appearance. jacob once saved her from a trap & she's been at his side ever since. many claim that he's only that successful because of her & they are right actually. fox is the only one who can understand will's difficult feelings towards the new skin & it brought them closer together. will adores her to pieces tbh.

nerron. a githyanki who was deemed the weakest of the hatch & had to fend for himself from an early age. he's jacob's strongest rival in the treasure hunting business. he & will travelled together for a while & at first the plan was to kill will as a revenge on jacob after he beat nerron in the hunt for a particularly important object. what nobody anticipated is that they fall in love, so now will is gonna force everyone to get along :))

A comfortable silence had settled over their camp, as their companions slowly began to retreat to their tents. Will considered joining them for a moment, but he found that he didn't feel tired yet. One of many strange side effects that came with the use of the stone skin.

So instead they moved just a bit closer towards Astarion, idly plucking a few strings on the lute. "What kind of music do you actually like? I don't think I ever ask you that."

ok but i'm once again thinking about how Will never got a choice in so many aspects/moments of his life? The first (& perhaps most important) instance was when Jacob decided to go through the mirror & build a life there, leaving Will & their mother behind. There was nobody else left to take care of Rosamund, when she got worse, so Will was the one who had to stay, it didn't matter what they wanted for themself. And while I think Will still directs most of the blame for that on their father & he knows it was Jacob's way to cope I think that's the main thing he can't forgive his brother. Then they get injured by the goyl & turns into one of them, once again something is happening to them that's out of their control. Even more so if you consider that once he fully becomes the jadegoyl & a soldier Will forgets everything that happened before that & loses everything else that defines him (tbh that's a whole other post). Becoming human again isn't his own choice either, but Jacob makes that decision -let's be honest here - mostly out of his own guilty conscience. And even the choice to return to the Mirrorworld eventually isn't theirs, but forced on them by the main antagonist. In book 4 we do finally see him being more proactive & making his own decisions (even against Jacob's wishes) & just think that development is very important jvkdhlkfhfbk
