SIM LAB

The best part of clinical in my opinion are the SIM labs. That is where i feel as though i do and learn the absolute most because it correlates what we leaned and we are not restricted but what the hospital or facility says is allowed for us as student to do. I got a deeper understanding of dealing with COPD patients and those who are vomiting and in pain and dealing with parents. Its a wonderful experience. Gong in is nerve wrecking, but afterwards when it comes to briefing time i feel s though i know something as a student nurse and it just makes me feel better, not all my studying is going to waste.

MED-SURG vs PEDS

Being a pediatric nurse sounded great at first, i love kids. Kids are more fun to play with and easier to move when it comes time to turning them for anything. However, nearing the end of Med-Surg clinical i think that i may like older adults m than kids. YEs, adults can get cranky but so can kids. Well see how it all plays out though.

Outlines

As much as i love the outlines given to us in Med-Surg, i cannot help feel as though i am being tricked. I had went to my advisor and she said to handle the outlines like a grain of salt. Before tbh i barely read the book because it was too much of a hassle, but for this med-surg exam i am going to because i am tired of seeing questions and all i say in my head is where did this come from??

Mind Blown

Okay honestly, peds exam was trash. I don’t normally rant about things but this is something that has to be addressed. I have never in my life studied so hard for an exam and do so miserably. I felt as though I didn’t study at all. These exams this semester have been terribly confusing. The material we learn isn’t even hard so why are the exams so difficult. After hundreds of practice questions and hours of learning lecture notes we should be able to pass with no problem. If someone could answer me one question it would be, “why do teachers give a blueprint when the exam had so many topics we never discussed?” I think inquiring minds would like to know. Anyway, it’s over and I passed after points were given back. This will not defeat my spirit and like I always say, “si tu no lo tienes, dios lo tendra.” WE ARE STILL HERE FOR A REASON! #DiositoPrimeroAlways

It was an absolute joke! We have been putting in work the past two weeks and that grade did not at all reflect the amount of knowledge we have. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! At this point its about passing, not trying to outshine anybody with the highest scores, simply just getting by. This will we over soon and we have each other to make the ride less rocky!

I agree, that exam was garbage. I came in feeling like i understood everything and was ready o take the exam, but when i saw the exam I'm like why are there so many post-op questions and just information i did not learn. Great, the time that i did not read the textbook in its entirety is when there are so many questions from the text and not from the notes

What  a WEEK!

These past few tests felt like never ending hurdles. It seemed as if, no matter how much time and effort was put into studying a curve ball was always thrown. The good news is, we all persevered and got through it. No matter what the turn out was, continue to stay the course. This program may be challenging, but we all worked hard to be here today so giving up is not the answer. There are a lot of people who wish to be where we are today but, unfortunately did not make it. So, just by being is this program is evidence of your success so don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do as well as you wish. The Only Way To Get Through It Is To Go Through It <3 <3 <3

What adds more pressure is being timed for our exams. I look at the clock too much and watch the seconds and minutes go by and i forget half the stuff i learned because the pressure kicks in and i start thinking of memes. You right tho, we got this!

De-stresss

After yet another sleepless nights and endless studying. I’m glad our patho, med surg and peds exams are over…for that week. After our peds exams. I took a break, as we all should do after taking exams after exams! I like to de-stress and relax by catching up on some sleep, watching a movie on Netflix, do a little pampering. And lets not forget about retail therapy, which I’m sure we are all guilty of! Another way I like to de-stress is by running or working out. I also like to eat Nutella (after a workout)! We all know that nursing school is very stressful, but we need to find our own different ways to lower our stress!

Same, right after that exam i went home and did nothing and it felt absolutely great. Yes, i did feel some guilt because there is always something i can be doing, but i just felt so lazy after that exam. Every exam is like a war. I dnt know how i am going to survive the last battle before the HESI. But the gym has been great so far, that and sleep. Sleep is my best friend

I love this, its so true , all we want to do is save people’s lives. Can’t wait till this semester is over so i can watch Spongebob at home. This reminds me of a patient at my med surg clinical.

My First Semester of Nursing School

Starting at a new school is always nerve-wracking and exciting all at once. I was definitely a little apprehensive to start this chapter in my life, mostly because for me, this meant that it was finally time to grow up. In the past, college has just been something that I did, and to my surprise, did well. Now, I’m starting something that will determine what I do for the rest of my life. 

Fast forward almost six months later and I’m still alive. I have learned so much already, made some awesome friends, and gained new experiences that I won’t ever forget.

That's great! I completely agree. This is my second degree course and in my other school, yes i worked hard , but i feel as though being in nursing school i am working harder than every because all the information we learn we have to build on it unlike my other school. You are still here so keep up the good work that you have been doing.

Sleeeepppp Depriveedddd

I got just about ¾ hours of sleep last night… BUT, here I am being a good student, in the library since 10:00 am. We have two exams coming Tuesday/wednesday for Med Surg AND Patho. So, its safe to say I haven’t got much sleep in the last few days. It ok though, once these exams are over I’m sleeping for a week straight (sick I wish)

Same girl, when it comes to exam week i cannot sleep because i have to make sure  i know the information. After exams are over i treat myself to a night off of sleep and guilt free scrolling through social media. Than wake up and do it all over again. All that matters is we pass. We can get sooo much sleep when we finish

WHEN IT SETTLES

What do you do after taking three exams back to back, yet you know that there is still so much to do. Having three exams back to back is like fighting a battle and when you have won it is like what is next. Do i nap, do i watch television, do i scroll through social media for hours, or do i be productive and do school work? Oh the options are limitless! As for me on a Saturday night i have chosen to do both and just hope i do not regret taking the rest of the night off to do nothing and enjoy myself before i burn out. Time to be social and see what everyone else is doing.

Days before an exam

Nursing school is difficult as we all know this but it even harder when someone close to you is having medical problems and can pass away at any moment. I'm trying hard to focus to do well on peds exam and i am hoping she lives until Thursday or Friday. I just hope she does not pass away too soon because i don't want to look back and regret not seeing her because i had an exam. Its a struggle s to what is important to be completely honest.

Is sleep an option?

This is the fourth week of spring semester and i must say that i am more tired this semester than i was last semester, I don't know about you but i feel as though time is slipping away from me. I am trying and cant wait to get the next two semesters over with
