halilcdâ:
When it came to Delilah, two things were certain. One, she always saw the best in everyone she knew without fail. Two, no matter what someone did or how things left off, sheâd always be there with open arms if they needed someone. Sure, this wasnât the best mindset for her to have because it usually meant she was walked all over but she never wanted anyone to feel lonely. Not if she could help it. And this message only cemented that in her heart. Obviously sheâd known Jace was at the same cafe as her, it was almost like the connection of childhood crush gave her her own personal Jace radar! Every stolen glance in his direction hurt her just that little bit more. But she knew him, she knew heâd push her away later⌠but that was something sheâd have to deal with when the time came.
what are you going to do about it?
As much as she wanted to go over to the boy, part of her knew it wouldnât be that easy. Heâd reached out, he could make the next move. In her head things were different, sheâd got the messages and called him over to fix what theyâd broken⌠or at least ignore it for the moment. However, this was Jace and theyâd been here before. Forgetting the past to move on and be friends again only for it to be thrown back in her face. So this time, it was his choice. If he wanted to fix it or just forget for the day then she was here and would accept it but if not and it was purely out of nostalgic pain then they could both go on with their lives like it never happened. Her eyes glanced back up from her phone and over to the familiar face. Watching and waiting for whatever was to come next.
want to sit with me? Iâll buy u a hot chocolate
As he pressed send, Jace kept his head down. Her response was enough of a surprise. Accepting his invitation would be something else entirely. He couldnât even decipher her tone in the text. Was she being sarcastic? Genuine? The invitation was out there, and now all he could do was wait. Either she would come over or send him a message telling him off for even thinking it was a possibility. He had fucked up with her, and he was very well aware of that today. She had always been willing to give him more chances, but he had been a capital-a Asshole to her over the last few years.
please
Tomorrow, he would hit himself for being so desperate. Tomorrow, he would probably wake up with some sort of âgood behaviorâ hangover. He would deal with that. All he knew was that he needed her. She had been there for him. She had understood what his grandfather had meant to him. She had helped him deal with his emotions spiraling out of control. He wasnât sure who else to turn to when this anniversary came around. The least she deserved was a please, right?
