VIII. STRENGTH - courage, persuasion, control, confidence, compassion.

This character and the campaign she came from mean so much to me; it’s led me to an amazing group of people who I now call my friends, helped me tell wonderful stories, and pushed my boundaries in the very best of ways. Thank you to my fellow castmates of TOA, you’re the only motherfuckers who could get me to love vampires and for that I’m grateful.
Details and symbolism under the cut!
Sunflowers: loyalty, vitality, love (her love interest’s primary motif is the Sun).
White carnation: pure love, devotion, luck (located on the sword, signifying her connection to her best friend).
Orange gladiolus: friendship, steadfastness; called the sword flower for its shape.
Thistle: protection, defiance, national flower of Scotland (located on the chest).
Pyrenean mastiff: a flock guardian dog commonly used throughout Europe in the latter half of the 19th century.
Shield: the design signifying the Beaconers, in her signature color (orange representing determination, hunger, freedom, and danger).
Poem lines on card sides: the final two lines from “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, one of my favorite poems of all time and the poem that solidified this character completely.

Though Mercy was very much wanting to stay human before this, she considered that the girl she is in love with was already a vampire, and her brother would have to become one to avoid dying from TB. Tensions were starting to rise between vamps and humans as time was running out for them to escape Oakhurst before Francois arrived (which would be. Bad), and this was the best way to ensure the three of them would make it out together. Albert was MAD about it though😬
The first art I made for the Oakhurst affair! Session 3 I think? This was when it became common knowledge that the church duo were vamps (or so we thought lol)

Not pictured: absolutely terrifying sprint back to town afterwards, complete with mercy’s first emotional breakdown (user Marie was having a great time hehehe)
ok so the oakhurst affair characters. we have like 18 people + backstory charas so im only gonna be including the most important relationships in this!!
trinity: trinity is one of the elder vampires in oakhurst. avery quickly clocked that he was a vampire and proposed an alliance where avery will help him as a human if trinity turns him at the end. originally avery was supposed to be a servant to trinity, but avery ended up taking charge. they have a bit of a master/dog dynamic i cannot lie, theyre in love in a crazy fucked up psychosexual way. i refer to these two collectively as "the church"
polidori: the town lawyer with secret TB, and the most popular guy in oakhurst. everyone loves polidori, avery and trinity included. polidori is very close with the church. hes the only townie who didnt turn on them when they started being actively evil and hes the only one the church is waiting for consent to turn. both vampires sides are actively fighting over polidori.
abraham: the self appointed leader of the town. these two cannot stand eachother. even before taking the leadership roles on opposite sides of the conflict they had beef. abraham has been suspicious of avery from day one and avery is actively petty about it. the avid to my owen.
salene: the resident vampire hunter. avery and salene had an almost intimate rivalry with salene. they were enemies and actively dangerous towards one another but really enjoyed spending time together. avery definitely had a weird kinda-crush on her. but salene was actually an identity she assumed from the main character in her book, and when she discovered she wasnt REALLY salene she lost her memories and became the writer, Lexi.
carl: carl is a vampire, but hes not an ally to the church. carl attempted to perma kill avery by staking him through the back, and now that the church has been exposed of being vampires hes actively proposing plans for killing avery. im not sure what his motives are yet
francois: averys father in both a pastoral and familial sense. hes a vampire who raised avery in his coven. he considers himself to be averys dad, but he sees avery as more of a beloved dress up doll than a person. after avery escaped the capital, francois went looking for him
edgar: a detective in the capital. edgar was investigating francois' church due to the number of disappearances in the capital, francois sent avery to interfere with the investigation. edgar believed the church was a cult and that avery was a victim of it, he wanted to save him but avery thought it was impossible. because avery couldnt manipulate edgar away from the investigation, francois killed him. edgars death snapped avery out of it, and he fled the capital.
Okay so I have in fact now been dubbed as the #1 Oakhurst Affair fan, and I do in fact take this new position with a whole lot of pride and responsibility so you all will be forced to deal with more of this in the future, thanks for understanding <3
being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
once again thinking about the fact that when crosshair and hunter are arguing in the outpost episode they throw everything at each other except the blame for tech dying because they both blame themselves for that
It finally happened. After some romancing in the ballpit, we popped the question and, folks, THEY SAID YES.

Anyway, the fan art is already absolutely incredible, thank you for celebrating with us:
that is not just a clone who's brothers he fought alongside with for years, who were his friends, who ultimately tried to kill him. it's also not just a clone of the 501st, who was under anakin's command, who obi wan may have met personally at some point.
this is also the face of the man he loved. the face of the man with whom he hoped he'd grow old with.
now he sees this aged clone and for a moment he gets a glimpse of the future he had once dreamed of and had to banish from his mind forever.
More trans clones, or just the same ones and the art i made for them bc now they r my little rotten soldier and i will b making a whole ass trilogy in my head for them
