This was such a good post thanks past me
I'm back fuckers! Or I will be once I hand this blog over to my current main account. Did ya miss me
"some kind of disorder"
Not to be a bitch but haven't you noticed there's a shit ton of witches on tumblr who have some kind of disorder, be it depression, bipolar, anxiety, etc? It's like rampant. So of course it's pointed out. It's explainable.
hmm, anon, thats an interesting point, but have you considered this point: shut the fuck up immediately
btw when a woo book or blogger or whatever pulls that "make sure to get Psychological Testing before you believe your supernatural experiences" line the implied message there is "sure spirits talk to people, just not CRAZY people :)"
Pagans when you âhearâ the voice of a Goddess/God or you âfeelâ their presence, please get a good psychotherapy section and make sure everything is right in your head. Because maybe just maybe is not the voice of the gods you are hearing.
Anon, what youâre not realizing here is that thatâs some really ableist shit. Religious experiences donât automatically mean youâre âcrazy.â Having a mental illness also doesnât mean youâre somehow âbad.â We need to decouple all these associations, because theyâre really harmful to pagans who do have mental illnesses â and there are a lot of them, because there are a lot of people, period, who have mental illnesses, and they are not bad people because of it.
A lot of us actually have been to various professionals and know whatâs up with our heads, and exercise an enormous amount of skepticism regarding what we hear/feel/see/sense. So you can kindly take your weird shaming back where it came from, because we do not generally need it here.
That said there are always going to be people who do convince themselves (or allow themselves to be convinced â manipulation also exists in the community, unfortunately) that they are sensing things for whatever reason, and later come to realize this. But thereâs no call for blanket statements like this one, even given that fact. Itâs just insulting to people who struggle with illnesses.
Thanks for saying this as itâs exactly what I thought earlier. People forget people with mental illnesses can in fact have a (gasp) fulfilling religious life involving the astral or hearing gods and spirits and actually be able to discern things for themselves like fully capable individuals. Amazing
Itâs like you can actually be in therapy already and still have metaphysical experiences and therapists can understand those are personal religious experiences
Also this sounds an awful lot like therapy trolling and that is literally never cool
ohhhh my god this anon makes me want to scream i cant even. articulate how upset this just made me lmao
Chaos magic began by utterly rejecting metanarratives because wherever you find metanarratives you tend to find that someone is being paid and it probably isnât you.
instead of posting content on this blog ive been reading literally all of runesoup and this is...a really good fucking quote so im sharing it
Hi, this blog has been pretty quiet lately. There's a good reason for that. The reason is, lately I can't look at The Pagan Community for more than thirty seconds without muttering "ooooh I hate you fuckers" under my breath. So. Ok.
"Go be a Witch"
When I say âGo be a Witchâ or âGo do Witcheryâ or any variation on that theme itâs not so much about action as how that action affects you.
If you do something woo-woo and your heart gets all wild and free? That thing. Do that. If you feel a mad rushing like youâre breathing in far more than your lungs can hold - like youâre inhaling holy fire and itâs spreading through your veins. If youâre teetering on that edge where it feels like something is about to happen? That. If you come down from it full of joy you cannot explain and a sense of fulfillment? Thatâs what Iâm talking about.
And while I donât truck with the line of â(insert thing here) is whatever you want it to beâ YOUR craft is whatever you want it to be. Take away the labels, take away the need to fit into a mold and do what makes you powerful.
And before anyone starts saying âOh my gosh but what if itâs this really harmful- â Stop. You know I donât mean that kind of thing and you equally know it is not my job to police the internet. GO BE A WITCH.
Common Mistakes About Persephone
For me most of the common mistakes fall under the category of over-simplifying her. Seeing her as only the Kore or only the Queen of the Underworld. She is both and is multifaceted. She is a goddess of life and death, spring and winter, and I find that people tend to only focus on one aspect and totally write off the other. Which, I mean, do what you want, but I personally consider it a mistake.
Another mistake, to me, is trying to re-write the myth of her abduction/rape and pass it off as canon. There is no source that I am aware of that presents her as anything but unwilling in the myth of her abduction (or her rape by Zeus, actually). The whole âshe wanted to be taken/she was tired of being only a daughter/she asked for it/she ran away/but she fell in love eventually so the ends justify the meansâ is entirely modern UPG, should be labeled as such, and can venture into rape apologist territory. Read more of my thoughts on this here.
On those same lines, it also bothers me when the only UPG concerning that myth are either âshe was a helpless victimâ or âit never happened because sheâs too strong.â I donât think her struggle has to be erased, but I donât think she has to be defined by it either. Thereâs a middle ground there that can present her as an amazingly strong and powerful person, but also one who has known fear, pain and loss.
The witch craze took different forms at different times and places, but never lost its essential character: that of a ruling class campaign of terror directed against the female peasant population.
Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English, Witches, Midwives, & Nurses (via catalytic-chamber)
i studied the witch trials and in a few places, more men were burned as witches than women. This is true for the majority of Europe and US tho
(via gaywitchesforabortions)
yeah but thatâs such a bullshit derail cuz even in those area in norway and whatnot it expressed itself as evil relation of men to the female peasant population. Â also almost all the info we have on witch trials comes from court records and huntersâ handbooks and neither of those are reliable sources. Â we donât know if âmaleâ witches burned were women; more importantly the point that this passage is making is that the overall social effect was terror against the female peasant class. Â you donât have to literally burn every potential witch to make witch trials a potential threat and police the gendered behavior of the peasant class.

idea: gods are literally real and archetypes and aspects all at the same time because they exist in a state of complexity we cant possibly comprehend as humans anyway. the gods are vast and hold multiple conflicting truths within them.
everyone wins.

idk. something about the unconscious formation of liminal spaces that happens via categorization??? something
rambling: thinking about the applications of duality -- not dualism -- and its applications spiritually/psychologically/etc...for a long time i had a knee jerk reaction to duality as a whole, in a "fuck you thats not real" way, a reaction to reductive dualistic thinking in a lot of 101 neopaganism reading material, how tied into the gender binary it is, etc. the problem isnt that duality is a Bad Concept, its just that it's looked at in a weird way. like, you create a duality, and everything becomes either/or and is encompassed in some way by this duality (ie male/female). but the thing is in forming a duality to think about you are also creating the space between adn outside these concepts, or you should be, and thinking about how these dualities interact with one another and with the Other. a venn diagram type model is a good place to start maybe. this idea was stirred up in my head while reading about the concept of the divine twins in evolutionary witchcraft, but today this has really been on my mind. a relevant duality for me, for example, is the interaction of Curiosity/Paranoia -- two sides of the same coin isnt a good metaphor, because yes, i personally cant have one without the other, but they bump up against each other, feed each other, and like i said, there are all these spaces formed inside and between and whatnot that are both or neither/nor...
does any of this make sense. i think i'm getitng kind of incoherent.
