I realized I don't have a pinned post, so...here is a pinned post, I guess?
Hi, I'm Nevi, though I won't be mad if you forget and just call me Afniel. I've also gone by Moppy since 1998 and that's still how I sign my art.
I'm an ace+arospec but also pan nonbinary genderqueer robotgender trans man, which is only the short version of it because gender and attraction are a complicated fuck like that. He/him/his or they/them/theirs are both legit. It/it/its, bit/bit/bits, and bot/bot/bots are especially cool if you're super chill with Weird Gender Shit.
I'm in my 40s, so if that's something you don't want to interact with, I respect that and won't be mad if you block me. This is generally a safe-for-life blog now, though I do swear a lot. It wasn't always SFW/SFL so beware if you scroll back in the archives too far. I've changed a lot since starting it.
I don't have a DNI, I don't go looking for DNIs, and I will definitely not notice your DNI. If you don't want to interact, don't. If I don't, I won't. Very simple. You may block me if that's not acceptable.
If you absolutely cannot function without a DNI or full list of stances on various topics that aren't your business, please just assume I am the most horrid and disgusting monster you've ever met with every bad option and yucky fetish that can be found in the world, and kindly do not bother me. You can read on under the cut, but if you're already this kind of person, I doubt you'll like what you find.
I'm disabled and have chronic pain and fatigue, mostly from fibromyalgia.
I've also got the ADHDtism so don't be surprised if I'm overly literal, miss the point, or if I'm extremely fucking funny at words (evidently this is a real side effect, lmao).
I've got some kind of Traumatic Dissociative Thing and I'm definitely a system of some type (I don't want it diagnosed on paper for reasons and I've got it pretty well managed). I'm the only one of me who currently blogs here but that might change at some point.
Less important stuff under the cut!
Pro-all types of systems. I was not born onto this earth for such a brief and brilliant time to waste it telling people that I know what goes on in their head better than they do, and I don't think anybody else was, either. Endogenic, traumagenic, whatevergenic, I don't discriminate by origin and I support anybody in need of support; I just believe and support people when they tell me how they are.
The relationships between fiction, reality, censorship, freedom, responsibility, and harm are far too complex to reduce to any single 'think of the children!' type of argument. I do not trust any government in the world to censor the 'right' things, and I do not think censorship is ever right, nor is harassment an acceptable behavior. Proship, not just as in 'in support of imagining whatever the fuck and leaving others in peace about whatever they're imagining, because thoughtcrimes aren't real and only actual harm to real people matters' (not "problematic ship," which it has literally never meant, except as used by people intentionally changing the definition in very bad faith to make themselves seem morally superior/justified), but also in the 'I couldn't care less about shipping itself, but shipping is only the absolute smallest corner of the issue' way.
I'm pagan but I've gotten so lazy about it. I actually used to blog mostly about that and witchcraft. True story. It's been a while though and I mostly don't now. When I am feeling like Doing A Paganism, I work primarily with Lilith, in a way that strictly preserves her identity as a Jewish demon. If that troubles you, you are free to ask me respectfully about it, but I've been hers for well over a decade and that will not be changing. I also work with Hermes, and occasionally Djehuty.
Gatekeepers are such a lame concept in general. If you consider yourself one, consider reconsidering, because that's a shit hobby to build a personality around.
Xenogenders and neopronouns are fine actually, and clearly not just for children, as I'm in my 40s and using them. It is important to try to make it easy enough for non-native speakers and those with language difficulties, but don't use those with language barriers as props for bigotry either.
I draw and the art mostly goes on @moppy-art.
I write and that goes here under #Nevi Writes, and on AO3 as Afniel.
I'm a nonhuman weirdo and that goes on @actias-android.
I'm working (slowly) on a whole entire classic Mega Man fangame from the ground up starring Roll, and that goes on @megaman-r.
Vidya james meems go on @moon-lord-big-naturals.
The Mega Man hyperfixation hellscape blog is @being-so-normal-about-reploids.
Je parle un peu de français mais ça fait 20+ ans que je ne l'utilize pas donc je l'ai oublié lmao
我学汉语学的很差。But I've got over a year streak going in HelloChinese and I can kinda break my Chinese-speaking friends' brains via Discord now so there's that! (Even if it's mostly because I'm learning mainland and they're Taiwanese...)
This blog is ancient. If you keep scrolling back, you are, guaranteed, going to encounter uninformed opinions, outdated information, and bad takes. That's just life. You live and, hopefully, you learn. If you run into anything you're uncertain about here, you can always send me an ask about it, though you'll likely need to include a link so I know what you're referencing because as I said, this blog is old. I definitely don't remember everything I've said here over the past 10+ years.
I love watching the look on people's faces when I tell them that I've written a trilogy as long as War and Peace almost completely on my phone, via swipe keyboard. Priceless reaction.
If you count the day I started (August 25th, 2023, yes I do know that off the top of my head for some reason) vs. the day I finished posting the main 3 fics in the trilogy, then Tolstoy is gonna have to beat two years and nine months. Though I don't actually know how fast he went. Let me check something real fast...
Okay you know what, Tolstoy whips my ass for pure speed, actually. He completed the entire rough draft of War and Peace in one year. But then he edited it for three years, and I edited as I went, so I come out a little ahead on that front. Call it even? I'm not about to compete with him.
Also they tell you not to edit as you go but man, I do everything wrong on purpose and it works out fine for me. I also write in bed when I'm sleepy and I frequently come back the next night and have to fix a few absolute nonsense words that I wrote in my sleep. I do my best work this way. I'm not even joking. If I'm chilling in bed, I feel like I have my guard down enough to write painfully genuine stuff that I'd have been afraid to write midday. I gotta be just sleepy enough to forget how to cringe. It's a very important step. Like yeah sometimes I've got to puzzle out what previous-night me was trying to say, but it's not too bad. And I ease into writing for that night by editing the previous night's stuff. Once I get into the groove of what's happening, it's a lot easier to just let it keep running in my head and then I've got the next chunk ready.

tbh if someone just handed me a pressure washer and set me loose in the streets i would go into a trance and just start hosing shit down indiscriminately. it's not a question of how much i could clean, but how long until i get hit by a car and die
so tired of people thinking taboo stuff in fiction equals taboo stuff in real life and “you’re a bad person if you write about it or enjoy it”. not to mention how harmful it is to reduce the severity of these things in real life by watering them down to dark fiction, my dude, humans have always enjoyed fiction that is taboo. otherwise there would be no horror movies or slasher movies or movies about wars and murders or any kind of media that wasn’t rainbow and sunshine.
just because you are personally uncomfortable with taboo stuff in fiction doesn’t mean your personal feelings are universal and it certainly doesn’t mean you get a free pass to harass others.
I’ve been into non-con fantasy ever since I was younger than 10 years old! I love reading and writing non-con fics, and I’ve been reading and writing them for almost a decade now. and guess what, I will never condone it in real life. nobody in real life is ever affected by the fictional things I enjoy, because it’s fiction and I am mature enough to separate it from reality. actually, even when I was younger than 10, I always knew that this thing I enjoyed was bad in real life. if a seven year old me could separate fiction from reality, you as an adult should be able to do it too — unless you’re deeply troubled, and in that case you need professional help.
no, you’re not morally better than anyone just because you don’t enjoy certain topics in fiction. you’re a bully if you think you can harass real people over fiction.
put your anger and energy on people who harm others in real life, instead of harassing innocent people for having thoughtcrimes.
“people who make six figures shouldn’t be allowed to complain —“ most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.
“people who can afford homes —“ are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if “can own your own home” is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid
“boohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boy” idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one
