Well now he knew that Anubis wasn't here to try to take him away back to Aaru. The suspicion had definitely been there though when he was lumped in with the seeming escapees. Lord Anubis said there was nothing to be concerned with there, but he still felt himself uncomfortable with the idea there was a newly escaped soul out here in the mortal realm.
Even when he was a God it wasn't his jurisdiction though and even less so as a mortal. A true mortal, not even seen as a God in human form anymore as he had been in Kemet. He couldn't get involved even if he wanted to. Not unless it directly affected him. However there was one thing he could do.
"As long as you're here, would you like to meet Yugi? Have some lunch with us?"
Anubis's job was always so simple, collect hearts, weigh them, guide and guard the souls that pass on. Or feed them to Ammit. Who was getting incredibly fat with the amount of souls failing lately. But the fact that some were finding loopholes to come back or were given the chance to come back, it was trying his last nerve.
It was just creating a mess and a headache and a half.
He heaved out a sigh as he finished off his coffee, though he gave Atemu a look when he was invited to lunch. "Got to say that's a surprise. You want me to join you, why?" Perhaps it was his cynicism kicking in to think someone was inviting him to something and it didn't involve trying to make a deal for their mortal soul.
