my trans-related thought of the day is that the act of existing as a trans person in itself requires you to prioritize self-love over any other kind of love which is often very alienating but is important to our survival & happiness and in cultivating future realistic relationships that have a solid foundation 

and by prioritizing self-love i mean making decisions in your life that benefit you first and foremost and justifying those decisions based on self-love rather than outside sources, addressing dysphoria as something inside of us that can be eased by things that make OURSELVES happy than anyone else so hormones, surgeries, wardrobe changes, name changes, any and all choices we make are all going to be met against by transphobia and other social factors and so it’s necessary to our quality of life to put ourselves before anything else and to filter out those sort of messages we receive every day and live the way that benefits our own personal sense of self-worth first 

and there’s a lot of fear associated with finding the perfect someone to be with but you really have to learn to love yourself more than anyone else in the world and to put that before anything else within reasonable bounds and to not focus so hard on a hypothetical future with someone else and instead focus on a future where, primarily, you are happy - regardless of who else is involved
