Hugo let out a soft sigh. "But you aren't going to do certain things because you're missing a leg," he said. "In my experience, people knowing, they give you more grace, more time. There are also going to be the people who judge you no matter what, but those same people will find something, leg or not, to judge you on. What's important is who you surround yourself with, who understand the limitations you have and want to work with them, instead of against them."
Jack shook her head, "I know I'm going to be judged. People judge me for so much. I'm a woman of colour who was raised by a single mother and works in a male-dominated field. I've got enough to be judged on. I just don't want pity," she paused, "Yeah, I've got one leg but I've also got freakin' magic and a prosthetic leg with alterations that level the playing field. I don't want grace or time.
