When my husband and I first came to Atlanta in January 2012 we both had stars in our eyes and a dream in our hearts. His dream was to produce films and videos among other things. My dream was to become a performing artist in front and behind the camera. One of the first things I noticed about Atlanta is that it’s full of dreamers, people who come here from everywhere trying to do the things they’ve always wanted to do. And the one thing that we kept hearing over and over again is “You guys have come here at the right time.” We started off by going to Get Connected and met a lot of great people. But still no opportunities or real connections came from it. Then we decided to focus on getting a studio and luckily we found a decent spot in South Atlanta for a good rate. And 2 months, a few thousand dollars and many man hours later BlurVid Studios was finally complete.
We made a little money here and there by renting the place out and doing a few projects. We even took on partners which in my opinion didn’t work out as expected. So after a few weeks my hubby started back traveling again for his job and I was left to fend for myself in the big city. My next project was working on a team for the 48hr Film Project.
I was promised an opportunity to work in front of and behind the camera. But once production started rolling I was mostly behind the camera and didn’t get but a few seconds of screen time. We spent almost 16 hours producing a seven minute film…imagine that! It was more like a 48hr crash course in filmmaking, what to do, but mostly what not to do when producing a film. lol In the end this is what we came up with.

So after this I kinda floated around aimlessly. However, I did manage to get a photoshoot done and have a chance to practice in front of the camera again. Here are a few of the pics.
One of the main things I’ve learned since being here is that in order to really get your foot in the door with most film projects you have to have a flat stomach and big booty and I have neither. lol But I’m not gonna let that stop me from reaching my goals. Yep, you heard it right! I’m starting my career from right where I am right now, fat and all!
