Sneekpeak: Wear My Arms ~
For @leonacastellanos :)
In the summer of 1975, Kelso was wooing some rich girl and Donna had grown a rack no one suspected she would ever had. It’s impossible to not look at her, and when he realizes he doesn’t feel guilty about it, he does because Forman is his best friend and he has been in love with Donna even before none of them understood what love and math were about.
It doesn’t stop him from getting as close as her as he can in the pool, hugging her waist as they play to put the other underwater. And when she gets to put him down, he opens his eyes and her breasts are in front of his face and he laughs, losing the air on his lungs, and fighting to go up again, arms suddenly taken by someone else.
“Thanks—“
He expects Donna to lecture him about his bull, but when he opened his eyes, the sun shone bright in front of him and there was no red, only light and pink. She was wearing a blue shirt, the staff one, which meant she was a cheerleader and when his eyes adjusted to the light, Hyde recognized her.
“Are you okay?” she said.
Jackie fucking Burkhart, one of the Queen Bees of school. He nodded, going back into the water not before checking her out as she stands.
Her hair was short, everyone knew about the tragedy with her hair: someone had cut it while she slept during a Cheerleader Camp a week ago and her father had brought her back immediately. Yet, she still wanted to be part of the team, and she had come to help with guarding the pool with the chicks that hadn’t left for camp.
She smiled at him again, asked if he was sure that he was feeling okay. He nodded. Hyde had seen her around. She was so mean all the time, he didn’t want anything to do with her.
“Jackie!” his doofus friend called her and Hyde cursed inside, because then this was the rich girl he was after. A tragedy. “Look, now we can guard together!”
Kelso was wearing one of the blue staff shirts too, Hyde rolled his eyes and looked back at Donna, only to find she had left him there, and was more entertained talking to Forman in one of the pool’s corners. Of course.
“But Michael, you don’t know how to swing!”
Hyde smiled, Kelso was always his best source of burns and he went back to his previous spot, using his arms to get out a little from the pool. “You can always guard the kid’s pool, Kelso.”
“I actually can!” he said, looking at Jackie again. “Because I’m such a great guy with kids, too!”
“I’m sure you are, Michael.” she answered, Hyde looked at her bare legs. They looked smooth, and the way her skin shone was like if her body was always oiled. She was hot, mean and rude, but still hot. “You have to go with the coach, ask him in what section you’ll be.”
“I can’t guard with you?”
“Nope.”
Kelso looked frustrated, Hyde smirked at him when his eyes searched for his support. “I can’t do nothing, man.”
“Damn!” he said, walking towards the cabin to get his orders.
Jackie laughed as he got afar, then moved to one side and left her shoes under one of the sun chairs, her blue shirt following and then she stood near him.
“You are Hyde, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Jackie.”
“I know.” he answered, why was she talking to him? His eyes looked at her neck, followed an invisible path to her breasts and he realized she was wearing a damn bikini. For a small girl, she was really something. “Uh, see you.”
“Bye, bye.”
He saw her only put her feet under the water, actually doing her job of guarding the pool like the cheerleaders team had offered for the summer. He almost admired her determination.
But he admired her skin more, and the pink of her lips. Hyde had never realized Jackie was actually a pretty girl. If he didn’t knew how she was, he would swear she was one of the most stunning girls he has ever seen and maybe even think she was lovely.
i’m afraid of never sleeping again, of not hearing the dulcet of her voice, giving me a ride on a dream she’s driving. there is where i can see her now, only in the dark and the calm, when not a soul makes a peep and my body gives in to peace. but i’ve never been good at dreaming. my eyes were not made to rest, my mind was never thought to let go. i cannot sleep with her hands away, without the smell of her love and the softness of her care, i may never sleep again. here’s the only place where she exists as we were, where nothing of it happened and i held her enough to stay. even if the morning comes, at least here i can go back. but she’s gone and so is my sleep. i’ll never feel her again.

Zenmasters Week 2017: Day 6 – What happened in the summer of the ‘78?
From ‘Wear My Arms’, an unfinished and never posted work. WMA was a soulmate AU I was writing way before the ZMA became a thing. This is from chapter 5: The Walk. Goes from the kiss in JBG, thorugh season 4 and the summer betwen s4 and 5.
It’s all on Hyde’s POV.
Kissing Jackie was probably the biggest mistake of the night.
Her handwriting haunted him ever since that time with Donna and Forman, and the closer she got to him after her break up with Kelso, the surer he was about his soulmate’s identity. Like rain, the answer made him cold and he tried to give her his back most times, cover himself from the drops, but there were things—he couldn’t see a girl crying, and he couldn’t stand her crying.
The weakness he showed for her tears gave her the bad idea that they should be together and his steps were always followed by her. At the end, even if she wasn’t his soulmate, whatever it was that he was… feeling for her, he didn’t like it. He didn’t want it either.
When Mrs. Forman make it clear she saw what he had been trying to ignore, Hyde was sure he owed Jackie a chance, so a date would do.
To kiss her was probably the biggest mistake of his night… He should had talked more, he should had stopped pretending to not care, he should had shown her he was interested. But instead, he let her do as she wished with him, even putting his own arm around her shoulders because he was too numb to think and then, she was too numb to even feel.
She rejected him.
After half a year of following him around, swearing she wanted him and wanted to be with him, she had dismissed him just with one kiss and a straight up, ‘I felt nothing’.
Bullshit.

she, speed of my blood, gravity of the world, meaning of poems and holder of longings. she laughs, the sun is jealous and the moon gets a new orbit, needing her light, like a prayer I don’t have name for. she, may destroy me with a blink, give me home in the warm of her kiss, haunt my mind ‘till the end of me, she.

There’s this girl. She’s by far the brightest spot in the world. Her nose wrinkles when she laughs, nothing is as pretty as it. The way she flips her hair, and takes off her shoes, it all shouldn’t matter to me as this. I think I see her everywhere; in the colors of the school and my mother’s flowers. In the music I used to hate, and the dreams I never had before. I can see her, smiling as she sleeps, cradled at my side on the grass. The sky has never been this jealous. She’s by far the realest thing in the world.

no heart like hers should love you. so let’s get real here, you are the greatest of the evils. the way you hurt her should end you, and yet you get to laugh and enjoy her sorrow. mama’s little monster has eaten good tonight, mommy would be proud of you. no wonder you lay alone now, no wonder the emptiness requires liquid care. no wonder she left in the first place.

It hurts because I know it. See, that’s the kind of power no man wants. I can’t blame you, either; you were always clear with your heart, I barely know mine and we speak as we walk, learn and try to understand together. This is the way I write about you, it’s how I know that you are not lying when you say you love him. It’s the same way you talk about him.

Hyde reading over a poem he’d just written about Jackie in his Moleskine.

Leona: For me, It’s Wear My Arms and Love Story.
It’s amazing (it is), how I keep missing the moments with you and transforming them into ‘what’ if’s, and 'i could have’s, and 'i wish i had’s instead of just doing as my whole wants (i swear i do, i wanted it too). how my own shadow traps me. it smells, and i sweat, then it’s gone. the damn moment it’s gone (please don’t look at me like that, I–)… i hate the times your mouth says 'okay’ as your eyes says 'fuck you’. go ahead and please, insult me. do it because i deserve it (you know i do), and you shouldn’t be eating just a couple of crumbs from the ground (you deserve the whole table, the whole world). you should (here it goes again) know it’s true: i loved you (i do), and i wanted to be with you (i do, i do, i do).
