“The Cardassians like orderliness in all things,’’ Zimmerman says. ‘‘And they prefer things in sets of three.’’ We can see this reflected in the three top docking pylons, the three bottom docking pylons, the three crossover bridges, and the three concentric circles of the docking ring, the habitat ring, and the core. ‘The Cardassian mind prefers balance to symmetry,’ Zimmerman continues, ‘‘ellipses to circles, angles to straight lines, and hard metallic surfaces and dark colors. They believe in honesty in design and want to see the columns and beams which make up a structure, rather than disguise them.”

baffling vase in damar's quarters/conference room when he's visiting ds9 in statistical probabilites. is this federation property or did he bring that from home
jadzia telling kira she's agreeing to a fully klingon wedding bc she "already had several" and she's bored of them is very interesting in her overall arc that isn't an arc. aka the way jadzia and dax get hurt by the trill symbiosis culture and sexism and medical abuse and the reassociation stigma repeatedly. but a big break never happens. she just slowly stops being interested in practicing trill culture. which is not a very big change as she never had many trill friends or visited her home planet much or talked to her family at all
and i don't think that she's lying here or forcing herself to not have the wedding the trill way. i think it's an authenthic disinterest and discomfort at it and whatever it entails. just how she tells julian she's scared of doctors, always was. just a quirk or a flaw of hers she needs to get over. probably nothing to do with the repressed memories of what happened to joran or going through the extensive program of having her body and mind evaluated at with the sole intention of judging her to be good enough or not. or the fact that in the culture she grew up in her own body will be always secondary to the symbiont and will be disposed of if it no longer suits it. trill weddings are just honestly pretty boring. last time she got trill married it was to kahn

was there any aspect of Bajoran culture you wish they’d explored more in the show (at the time and/or in retrospect?)
I feel like we didn't go into their (former) caste system in any meaningful way, and that could have been interesting.
I also always I wanted to find at least one thing that made them biologically and mentally different from humans. Back when I was on the show, I tried to push the idea that they had a heightened sense of smell and that the things they smelled could trigger powerful memories. Like with humans but amped up to 11.
So for example, Kira could still smell faint traces of all the deaths that had happened on the station and was haunted by that. And maybe she could smell other people's adrenaline and such. And that Odo didn't smell like anything which was actually part of her attraction to him because it eliminated a lot of baggage. But I could never sell the showrunners on that one.
They really wanted to keep Bajorans as human as possible and looking back, I totally get where they were coming from.
Would you have separated Tuvix?
Would you have separated Tuvix?
Yes
No
Who? What?
He was a lot less annoying than Neelix but less hot than Tuvok. It's such a conundrum.
Yes, specifically so i could blow neelix out an airlock
