The fun of visiting another town is the street photogaphy. Edinburgh was a great place. I love this photo of a couple in the Royal Botanical Gardens. I adore the juxtaposition between the purple of their shirts and the big red plant that almost looks like a heart: the symbol of their love!

This could be a great place for street phoyography! This is Jupiter Artland in Scotland which is full of modern sculptures and this land' sculpture too!

I love the sunbeam streaming down in this photo, taken at Greyfriars Kirk Graveyard in Edinburgh.

I love taking photos of pubs wherever I go. These two are in London, the first in Villiers Street and the second in Covent Garden. There are always such a diverse collection of people,

Sometimes you have to look back at the older photos and make a judgement about how you feel about them. This is one of my favourites, taken in September 2016 in China. Why do I like it? I think firstly the colours. I love the stance of the boy, who appears to be looking in the distance. I also like the composition. Everything is framed in red. Also there are three 'objects': always a good number in any scene.

Light and Shade again. Sometimes taking pictures feels like an invasion of privacy. I was in my local church taking shots of how the light shone through the stained glass windows, when I spotted these two girls. A moment of doubt: could I take their photo? My guilt was assuaged when I realised they were taking photos themselves. I just love how the light just fell on the one girl.

Rammy Narula: a great street photographer. Rammy has to be the most fabulous of photographers. Just look at the photo of his above, from the series Platform 10. The light is perfect, falling on the people giving you just a glimpse of them, but telling a story of each one.

Light. At the symposium on street photography I attended in London last weekend, the one thing that stood out for me was the importance of light. In a land of millions of camera phones, people are now having their photos taken all the time, but get that moment when the sun's rays shine in a certain way, to bring out light and shadow, and the effect can be breathtaking. The photo above, taken on a phone, is not the greatest, but I saw that the beam of light was shining perfectly on the wood, and waited until the right person walked into it. That is the first time I have done that. Thank you to the symposium for teaching me this one thing.

Smoke Beard Man, Beckenham Taking photos in my home town of Beckenham has always been difficult. It is a fairly big town, but very definitely suburbia. I run a community site on Facebook called the Beckenham Appreciation Group and have dared to put on one or two street photos, but the reaction has often been ‘That’s my aunty. Take it down’. When is street photography invasive?
