Prompt(s) Used: Doppelganger | Caretaking | Working From Home
Summary: Upon seeing the new arrival, everyone is pretty sure that Leon just cloned Wesker.
Context:
No zombies and nothing bad ever happened. Well except for Chief Irons canonically being a serial killer. He's in jail and Marvin is Chief of Police. Leon joined the RPD in early 2000, not 1998.
I made up all their birthdays (except for the years) and changed Jake’s birth year. Jack and Annette didn't even have years so I made their birthdays up completely.
Albert Wesker - 41 (Birthdate: January, 1, 1960)
Leon Kennedy - 24 (Birthdate: March, 15, 1977)
Jake Muller - 1 (Birthdate: October, 2, 1999)

September 12 - RC Hospital - Raccoon City
Leon groaned as he turned over in his hospital bed. He had just been giving some more pain medication and he was waiting for it to kick in. Everything from the waist down was throbbing and not in a fun way.
But that’s what happens when you go through sixteen hours of labour and push out a ten pound baby.
“Hmpf, the second one is supposed to be easier.” Leon whined, “Jake was six pounds and only took eight hours!”
“Well I think this all turned out wonderfully.” Albert told him.
“You’re only saying that because you didn’t have to give birth.” Leon exclaimed, “And he looks like you! Nine months and sixteen hours of labour only for him to look like his stupid father!”
The baby in his husband’s arms let out a whimper and flailed his hands in distress.
“Hush, don’t listen to him.” Albert cooed, “Your papa is just mad because he lost the bet.”
They had been betting on what the baby’s gender would be and whoever won got to name the baby. Leon had been betting on a girl and to name her “Adaline” after his best friend Ada. Albert had been betting on a boy and wanted to name him “Zeno” after the two Greek philosophers: Zeno of Citium and Zeno of Elea.
However, that meant Leon got to pick the middle name.
And so the baby was dubbed: Zeno Jackson Wesker-Kennedy
Named after the man Leon considered an older brother and whom Albert tolerated for the sake of his husband. But it was only fair because Albert named their first child after his honorary brother. Thus: Jacob William Wesker-Kennedy
Their friends called them ridiculous, but they both thought a little competition in a relationship made it healthier.
Despite the pain, Leon felt himself smiling as he watched Albert interact with their new baby. He always found it funny how his husband could go from a cold hearted soldier to one who shows so much love to their children and him.
“I’m not mad.” Leon quietly said, “Just in pain.”
Albert gave him a soft look and leaned over to kiss him on the head.
“I know and I wish I could fix it.” Albert told him, “But I am very thankful for you and everything you do.”
“Sap.” Leon teased.
“Brat.” Albert snarked back.
Leon let out a snort and then sat up against his pile of pillows, reaching his hands out for the baby.
“Give me my baked potato.” Leon demanded.
Albert rolled his eyes, but did as he was told. Gently placing Zeno into Leon’s arms.
“Hi sweetheart.” Leon cooed, “I know I’ve been complaining a lot, but I love you very much.”
Zeno cooed against his chest and slowly fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
“And just so you know, I’m thankful for everything you do too.” Leon whispered to Albert.
“I know.” Albert told him.
The two of them spent the rest of the day leaning against each other. Watching their new baby adjust to the new world he found himself in.

Jake missed his parents. This was the longest he had ever been without them. His Grandma had said it was only four days, but to him it felt like forever. Grandma says it takes a long time for a baby to come. He didn't really understand it though. Why didn’t they just take it out? Like when you open a box? Adults were weird.
Anyways, they were coming home today!
Jake was so excited, he told his Grandma that they should wait on the porch for them. His Grandma agreed and they started playing “I Spy” to pass the time while they waited. Then, just as Jake was losing his patience, the car came.
“Daddy! Papa!” Jake yelled, “Up! Up!”
“In a minute, Jake.” Daddy told him as helped Papa get out of the car, “We have someone we’d like you to meet.”
They all went into the house and got settled in the living room. Daddy carried this weird looking bucket into the house and set it down by the couch. Then he pulled a wiggling lump out of it.
“Jake, this is your brother.” Papa told him, bringing him over to sit on the couch with him, “His name is Zeno.”
“Bwove Eno?” Jake asked, looking at the lump Daddy was holding.
“Yes, your brother Zeno.” Daddy nodded.
When Papa and Daddy had told him he’d be getting a brother or a sister, he was unsure about what that meant. But then Papa got big like a pumpkin and now the lump, Zeno, was here.
“How?” Jake asked, pointing at his Papa, “How get out?”
“Ah, a lot of exercising.” Papa told him, “I’ll explain the rest when you’re older.”
“Okay.” Jake nodded before looking back at his brother, “Hold? Hold bwove Eno?”
“Alright, just hang on a minute.” Grandma told him, “You need some support first.”
Papa and Grandma quickly put some pillows around him, then Daddy set his brother down in his arms. He was surprisingly heavy, but he was also much bigger than Jake thought at first. Zeno didn’t have red hair like him, he had light blonde hair that disappeared in the light, but he did have the same blue eyes Jake had.
“He’s chunky.” Jake commented, “Like bwownies.”
“He is, isn’t he?” Papa chuckled, “Do you like him?”
“Yeah.” Jake shrugged, “You take though.”
For some reason, all the adults laughed at him and Jake pouted, pushing his brother back towards his Daddy. The baby whined, but was grabbed in time before he started crying.
“Hey now, we have to be careful with Zeno, okay?” Papa told him, “He’s very delicate right now, like a flower. So we have to keep him safe.”
“Okay.” Jake nodded before asking, “Play now?”
“We can play now.” Daddy confirmed, “Go find the toys you want to play with and we’ll be right there.”
“Yay!” Jake exclaimed, hopping off the couch and running to the stairs.
He heard the adults laughing at him again, but he didn’t care. He was just glad Daddy and Papa were back!
He was still unsure about Zeno though, but maybe he’d get more interesting like they said he would.

A week later, Albert was working in the home office when a knock came from the front door. He immediately, but silently, rushed to answer it because he had just put the rest of the family down for their naps. Which was quite difficult as both of their children seemed to inherit Leon’s stubbornness.
So Albert was all too ready to cuss whoever was knocking on their door if any of them woke up.
“It better not be Redfield and Valentine.” Albert huffed, “Why did Leon have to befriend them?”
Don’t get him wrong, he was delighted that Leon had made friends. He just wished it wasn’t his two most chaotic underlings.
Also, it wasn’t Jill and Chris; it was the entire S.T.A.R.S team waiting outside.
“I will kill all of you if you don’t get off my porch this instant.” Albert growled.
“Heh, sorry boss.” Barry sheepishly told him, “I tried to stop them, but we both know they don’t listen.”
“That’s why Barry and I came along.” Enrico added, giving the younger members the "behave or else” look, “To keep the others on their best behaviour.”
Albert was never more grateful than he was now that he had at least two sane people on the team.
“Well everyone is asleep right now.” Albert stated, “So I suggest you all-”
Just as he was about to finish his sentence, a cry came from upstairs. Albert glared at everyone and ran back upstairs to see what the issue was. Forgetting to close the door like an idiot.
Albert quickly checked on Jake to find he was still asleep and then went to the master bedroom. There he found Zeno crying in the bassinet. As soon as he picked him up, Zeno quieted.
Thankfully Leon didn’t wake up. The younger man was still wrapped like a burrito in the blankets and drooling on Albert’s pillow because of course he was.
“Is that all you needed?” Albert quietly asked, “A hug?”
Zeno whimpered and tried to break free of the swaddle he was in.
“Alright.” Albert sighed, “I guess we’re doing this.”
He went back downstairs, intending to watch some TV in the living room, when he found the S.T.A.R.S team already doing that.
“Wha- I told you to leave!” Albert exclaimed.
“Well you left the door open.” Richard shrugged, “So we thought we’d let ourselves in and wait until everyone woke up.”
“I swear.” Albert huffed while pinching his nose, “You are all-”
Once again he was interrupted. This time by Rebbecca who noticed the baby in his arms.
“Ooooh! Is that him?” Rebbecca asked, “He’s so cute!”
Everyone immediately turned to look at him at the mention of the baby and came to crowd around him.
“He looks just like you, Captain!” Jill exclaimed, “Hello… What’s his name?”
“Zeno.” Albert gritted out.
“Huh, that’s strange.” Jill muttered.
“Wow! He even has your death glare!” Chris laughed, “Are you going to be a little drill sergeant?”
“Yeah, but adorable!” Brad added.
“Can we hold him?” Forest asked.
“Absolutely not.” Albert snarled, “Not only have I not forgiven you for the flu incident last year, but newborns are incredibly fragile. They basically have no immune system.”
“Which is why we told all of you to wait.” Enrico told them, “So now that you’ve seen him, let’s go.”
“Aw, come on!” Joseph whined, “We can’t hold him, sure, but we can still look at the little clone baby!”
Albert glared at him and brought Zeno closer to his chest.
“He’s not a clone.” Albert stated, “He just takes after me more than Leon.”
“Are you sure?” Chris asked, “Cause he’s literally a mini you.”
Zeno must have not liked that as he started crying.
“Everyone out. NOW.” Albert demanded as he tried to soothe his angry baby, “Or else I will never share any pictures ever again.”
That thankfully got them running out the door. With shouts of “congratulations” and “tell Leon we said ‘hi’s”.
“Zeno… Never make friends with your co-workers.” Albert told his still whimpering son.
The baby grimaced and rubbed at his face. Almost as if he was agreeing with him.
-
Two weeks later and it was Jake’s birthday.
Albert had made sure the S.T.A.R.S team all had things to work on with short timeframes. That way none of them would be tempted to come over and annoy him.
He already had Jack Krauser coming over and one annoyance was enough.
The other guests were Ada, Jack, Alex, and the Birkins. The latter of which were the first to arrive. Well, other than Ms. Connolly who came over early to help set things up since Leon couldn’t lift anything heavier than Zeno.
“Shewy!” Jake yelled, hoping up and down in the doorway, “You here! Play! Play! Play!”
“Let her get in through the door first, Jake.” Leon laughed, gently pulling him away so their friends could get into the house, “Then you can maul her.”
“Hi, Uncle Leon!” Sherry cheerfully greeted him, giving him a firm but gentle hug as he was still healing, “Guess what?!”
“Chicken butt.” Leon replied, laughing when Sherry fake pouted, “Okay, what?”
“I won that science fair!” Sherry exclaimed, “They really liked the engine I built!”
“The one that works on leaves? That’s great!” Leon told her.
“Yes, we’re very proud.” Annette nodded before asking, “And how are you? In any pain?”
“Eh, just the usual.” Leon shrugged, finally letting Jake go so he could drag Sherry to his toys.
“That’s good.” Annette nodded, then she noticed her husband struggling to carry a box inside the house, “Oh, let me help you.”
Leon turned to see William struggling to bring a long, rectangular box through the front door. Annette walked over to help him and they dragged it inside, leaning it up against the wall.
“Uh, what’s that?” Leon asked, a little nervous as to what may be inside, “Please tell me that’s not more experimental toys. That glow in the dark play dough you made last year melted through the container.”
“Don’t worry.” William told him, “We went for something more structured this time.”
Leon was a little worried about what that might mean, but he decided not to say anything about it. William and Annette went to the kitchen to speak with Albert and Leon was about to close the door when a red corvette pulled into the driveway.
A woman of average height stepped out of it. Her black hair was in a sharp bob and she was wearing a red cardigan with jeans.
This was Ada.
Leon’s long time friend from his time with the government.
“Ada! You made it!” Leon called, “Is that a new car?”
“Yeah.” Ada sighed, “My mustang was pretty wrecked after I ran that mobster over.”
“Aw, that’s too bad.” Leon said, “Well at least this one isn’t a convertible and won’t get sun rot.”
“I guess.” Ada shrugged, “Anyways, where’s the birthday boy and the new one?”
“The new one’s name is Zeno. Albert picked it and he’s in the kitchen with him.” Leon laughed, “And Jake is with Sherry.”
“Of course Albert would name a poor child Zeno.” Ada scoffed in a joking manner, “And Sherry is here already? You know, you’re going to have to try again and get a girl. I would very much like another niece.”
“To even things out?” Leon asked, “Or because you want one named after you.”
“Why not both?” Ada laughed as she walked away to the kitchen.
“Well she hasn’t changed.” Jack commented.
“No, no she hasn’t.” Leon chuckled before realising he wasn’t alone, “Jack! You’re here!”
“Hey there, little brother!” Jack laughed, pulling him into a bear hug, “How have you been?”
“I’m doing great.” Leon told him, “A little sleep deprived, but other than the birth, Zeno has been a lovely newborn.”
“Is that the new brat’s name?” Jack asked.
“Jack! How many times have I told you to stop calling them brats!” Leon scolded him.
“Never.” Jack defended, “You’ve only told me to not call Jake a brat.”
“Smartass.” Leon muttered, rolling his eyes, “But whatever.”
Leon closed the door and led Jack to the kitchen where the rest of the adults were huddled around the bouncy chair Zeno was laid down in.
“Are you sure you didn’t clone him?” Annette asked.
“No.” Albert replied, “Why does everyone keep asking that?!”
“Because I don’t see any Leon in him.” Ada said, “And he’s glaring at everyone like you do.”
“He’s barely a month old.” Albert scoffed, “He doesn’t know what hatred is.”
“I beg to differ.” William argued, “Genes are quite fascinating and it is theorised that some mannerisms could be genetic. Also, babies are very perceptive and often follow their parents' emotions. So if you’re agitated; he’s agitated.”
“You did tell me that Zeno was just as annoyed with the S.T.A.R.S team as you were.” Leon commented.
“Oh don’t you start now too.” Albert huffed before noticing Jack, “Oh… Hello Krauser.”
“Wesker.” Jack nodded, “Now let me see the little guy.”
Jack leaned over everyone to get a peak at the baby and let out a loud gasp once he saw him.
“Holy shit!” Jack exclaimed, “He really does look like Wesker!”
“The team has dubbed him ‘Wesker Junior’.” Leon informed everyone, “Even got him a onesie with it printed on the front.”
“It’s a fitting title.” Annette remarked, “Zeno does look like he has Albert’s bone structure.”
“Oh really?” Someone asked, “Then why did you call me in the middle of the night when Jake was born to brag about how he looks like Leon?”
Everyone turned to see Alex, Albert’s twin sister, standing in the archway of the kitchen. She was wearing an expensive looking white summer dress and had a sly smirk on her face.
“I did not!” Albert defended, “I was merely calling to inform you that he had arrived!”
“Albert, love of my life, you did call to brag.” Leon stated, “I was only pretending to sleep.”
“I also heard you when you called the Birkins here to say the same to them.” Ms. Connolly added, giving a nod towards Annette and William.
“Ah yes, that was quite the surprise.” William said, “Nearly gave me a heart attack while I was in the lab.”
Albert huffed and opened the cabinet under the sink to grab the garbage.
“If any of you delusional people need me, I’ll be outside.” Albert stated in a tense tone before walking out the back door.
Their friends played it off as one of his jokes, but Leon could tell something was wrong. He was about to go after him, but Alex stopped him.
“You stay here, I think I know what’s going on.” Alex told him.
“Are you sure?” Leon asked.
“Yes.” Alex replied, “You stay here and mingle.”
“Alright.” Leon nodded, still a little hesitant.
Leon watched her go as he tried not to worry.
-
Alex stepped outside and walked around the corner of the house to see her brother sorting through the recycling. Muttering about “idiotic fools” and “stupid genetics”.
“Brother, why are you going through the trash like a raccoon with OCD?” Alex sarcastically asked.
“Because I live in Raccoon City and I do have OCD.” Albert snarked back.
Alex let out a deep sigh and sat down beside him. Trying not to wince at the fact that her pristine dress was now touching the ground.
“Why do you keep denying that Zeno looks like you?” Alex questioned him, “Do you hate him?”
Albert froze and looked at her in shock.
“Of course not!” Albert exclaimed, “I would never hate my children! How could you say that?!”
“Well every time someone says he looks like you; you immediately go on the defensive and deny it.” Alex calmly told him, “This wouldn’t have anything to do with our ‘father’, would it?”
“That man is not our father!” Albert snarled, “Maybe on paper, but that’s it!”
“Ah, so this is about him.” Alex smirked, “Well come on then, we don’t have all day.”
Albert let out a deep sigh because he knew his sister wouldn’t let this go until he talked. That doesn’t mean he had to look at her while he did it though.
“Fine.” Albert huffed, “Since Zeno looks so much like me, I’m afraid that he might develop the same mental problems as me.”
Alex visibly softened at hearing that. Well, as much as someone like her could.
“Albert… You’re not him.” Alex stated, “You’re not going to send your boys off to boarding school the second they show signs of mental illness, disability, or disorder. You’re much better than he was and you have Leon to support you.”
“I know, I know.” Albert sighed, “I just… Don’t want him, either of them, to be ostracised. Especially for something they can’t control.”
“They won’t be alone, Albert.” Alex reassured him, “They will have each other and all of us. They’ll always have our love and support.”
“Yes, they will.” Albert nodded, “Thank you, Alex.”
“You’re welcome dear brother of mine.” Alex said, “Now let’s go celebrate your first brat’s birthday.”
“Ugh, Krauser is rubbing off on you.” Albert groaned.
“Better me than the kids.” Alex laughed.
Oh god, now that would be a nightmare.
-
Later that night, once everyone was gone and the house was clean again, Leon was just finishing up putting the food away. Jake had already been put to bed and Albert was in the process of putting Zeno back down.
Unlike Jake, their new baby wasn’t fond of all the poking and prodding. So they had been taking turns watching over him and putting him to bed.
It was Albert’s turn currently and Leon was quietly sneaking up the stairs to their bedroom to check on him. He was still worried about what happened earlier even though Alex had already filled him in.
Why’d I have to marry such a stubborn man? Leon thought, He really needs to talk about his anxiety more.
Leon finally got to their bedroom and went inside, expecting Albert to be putting Zeno in the bassinet. But he wasn’t there.
Leon went across the hall to the nursery to find he wasn’t there either. Going over to the next bedroom, he found just Jake in there. The toddler half way out his bed and drooling.
Where could they be? Leon wondered as he gently put Jake back in bed, Hm… The office maybe?
Leon went across the hall and peaked into the office. Finding Albert sitting at his desk and showing some pictures to Zeno.
“This is me in West Africa.” Albert told the baby, “I was doing some research on a virus there and almost died in a volcano of all things.”
Leon heard Zeno let out a coo as Albert brought the picture closer to him.
“I was in a rough place after that, but then I met your papa.” Albert whispered, “I have never been more grateful to nearly have my head shot off than I was then. Your papa can also kick a man’s head off his shoulders if he wants to; so I suggest you never fight him, okay?”
Zeno babbled at him and then let out a big yawn.
“I think someone is tired.” Leon commented as he finally let himself in, “Are you feeling better now?”
Albert froze and then looked back at him.
“Yes, I am.” Albert whispered after he recovered from Leon startling him, “He really does look like me, doesn’t he?”
“Mhm.” Leon nodded, “And I’m glad you’re okay. Just don’t hide it for nearly a month next time, alright?”
“I won’t.” Albert promised, standing up to kiss him, “And are you okay? You’ve been running around all day.”
“I’m fine.” Leon told him, “But sleep does sound great right about now.”
“Come on then.” Albert chuckled, wrapping a hand around the other man’s waist, “Let me tuck you both in.”
“You’re not coming with?” Leon pouted.
“I will eventually. I just have a couple reports to look over first.” Albert stated, “But I promise to be in bed before midnight.”
“Alright.” Leon dramatically sighed, “But you owe me a lot of kisses.”
“That’s a fair price to pay.” Albert nodded, “Now get to bed, dearheart.”
Leon didn’t put up too much of a fight after that. He was just happy that Albert was alright and didn’t hate his little doppelganger. Falling asleep to the sight of his husband soothing their little one to sleep, grateful for being married to someone so caring.
