He wasn’t running away or pulling a phone out to contact anyone. This is a good sign. In fact, he seems more surprised than he does scared. Clearly he’s not familiar with the concept like her friends are, though it’s to be expected from an outsider.

Besides the transformation, she turned invisible as if to prove a point about being half ghost, then she reappeared.

“Yeah, a clone. Made from ectoplasm and Danny’s DNA,” she answered. That was the first question. As for the second one… “I didn’t ask them because I didn’t want to pry, but I think it was some sort of accident that happened at some point in their lives with a portal leading to the ghost zone.”

“Well it seems there’s a lot about this world that I don’t know about,” he muttered almost more to himself than to her. He blinked once and then held out a curious hand before seeming to think better of it and letting it fall to his side. “Heh I can see why you’d want to keep something like this secret...”

“It looks a lot worse than it is.”

Scout raised an eyebrow as she observed the wound on the mech “You have a hole in your side….get to my workshop and I’ll fix up up real quick” She said, shaking her head slightly

“Meet me at the front gate in about ten minutes” She said before heading to go get ready “See you in a bit”

“Alright,” Wheeljack cheerfully nodded. He could easily do that. “See you soon.”

Scout rushed to her room and grabbed her leather jacket and helmet. She locked up her small home before going to get on her fire themed motorcycle and meet Wheeljack at the gate.

Wheeljack for his part checked to make absolutely certain that he was fully repaired and able to race. Satisfied that he was in perfect health, he made his way to the front gate, and waited in his vehicle mode.

When he spotted her he playfully flashed his headlights. “Hey.”

Scout grinned and waved as she pulled up next to him “You ready, Wheeljack?” She asked, flipping up the visor on her red helmet “I’ve already got a track planned out for us that’s completely open but still safe”

“Ready,” he stated, cheerfully before then revving his engine. Her plotted out track sounded great and he was eager to get started. He had a feeling that this was going to be fun.

Carrying a bundle of supplies, Wheeljack cautiously enters the ship. "Skywarp? Hello?"

Skywarp groans a bit. Rolling over and yelping when he feel out of the berth

“Well wanting to be good is always a good start in my book,” Wheeljack chuckled, pausing only briefly before continuing on with the repairs. His optics narrowed thoughtfully then at Skywarp’s next question.

“We’d have to be careful but I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t end up meeting other bots, sometime.”

He smiles softly. At least things were looking up for him. For so long he had been on his own. It felt like forever but he knows it probably wasn’t that long. It just felt very long because he was lonely. Always hiding from danger.

“I um I hope they’ll like me when we do met.”

“I hope they like you too,” he stated, before moving so he could stand directly in front of Skywarp. “That should do it,” he announced, having finished the last of the repairs. “How do you feel now?”

A little surprised that it was done. He barely noticed time go by while Jackie worked. Flexing his wings gently he smiles. “Better. I don’t feel any of that tightness like before. Thank you!! It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be!!” Looking at Wheeljack happily.

“It wasn’t any problem,” Wheeljack spoke warmly, “but you’re welcome.” He then picked up a cube of energon that he had also brought and held it out towards his friend. “Have some of this. It should help you feel even better.”

((platonic starters)) “It’s okay to stay, you know.”

“But…. I don’t know what to do.” Hot Spot answered. “The humans need us. Isn’t that why we were designed?”

“Yes,” Wheeljack answered, “that’s one of the reasons why you guys were created but that isn’t the only one.” He paused thoughtfully before continuing. “You’re more than just your purpose after all, which means you need to do what feels right to you.”

“Hey there, Skyfire.” Wheeljack carefully set what he was working on down. “Did you need something?”

Skyfire glanced down at Wheeljacks work curiously, before turning his optics back to the other scientist with a small smile, “ I did, actually. I was wondering if you had time to give me a bit of input on a project of mine.” 

“If not, I can always come back when you are free,” he added quickly.

Wheeljack casually waved off the last statement, stepping away from his work. “Nah. I wasn’t that busy. Just let put up a few things and I’d be happy to take a look at your project.”

Pleased with Wheeljacks answer, Skyfire stepped further into the lab, somewhat more casually than he had entered. He quietly watched the wrecker put his equipment away for a few minutes, before speaking.

“What were you working on, if I may?” 

Skyfire had always found Wheeljacks own projects very interesting, even if they weren’t his particular field of expertise. The scientist was never afraid to stray from convention, it was something that the shuttle always found commendable.

Placing the last bit of equipment on the shelf where it belonged, Wheeljack turned his full attention to Skyfire. “Ah it wasn’t anything too exciting or new,” he answered a grin in his voice. “I’m just trying to update some scanners to make sure we keep up with the Con’s tech.”

“What about you? You said you were working on a project?”

“On a scale of 1 to 10, how much does it hurt?”

Electric blue optics look at the engineer. He had no way of flying or transforming with mangled wings. “25.”

“Okay,” Wheeljack’s helm fins flickered once before he reached out as best as he could to give Skydive a comforting pat. “If that’s what you want I’d be happy to go in with you.”

Silverbolt smiled slightly. “How could I say no?” He asked.

Skydive was relieved to hear that. He really didn’t want it to be just him and Ratchet. Would’ve resulted in an awkward and uncomfortable silence, since the bookworm doesn’t really speak much.

“Let’s go on in then, and get you patched up” Wheeljack encouraged, knowing that standing around in the hallway wouldn’t help any of them.

Everything’d been a bit fuzzy to begin with. It didn’t help that it felt like his helm was swimming. Might as well take Wheeljack’s advice and sit on the nearby chair.

“Well I suppose we would be too lucky if we got the match on the first try,” Wheeljack muttered more to himself than to anyone else. It was alright though. They had plenty of other bots to test for a match.

Slingshot huffed and rested his chin on a servo, Of course Fireflight wasn’t compatible. Hopefully Air Raid would be.

Fireflight laid across Slingshot’s lap once free from being hooked up.

First Aid went to Air Raid and did the same thing to him.

Wheeljack was silent for awhile longer before he started shifting on his pedes. He wasn’t used to standing around doing nothing and it showed. “Is there anything else I can do to help, Aid?”

“If the other Aerials turn up incompatible, then you can be the next one,” First Aid replied without bothering to look away from what he was doing. “Otherwise, there’s really not much you can do.”

“Okay.” Wheeljack of course would be happy enough to be tested if it came down to it. He then fell silent once more, not wanting to bother Aid while he was working.

“So you’re saying it doesn’t hurt right now?” Wheeljack asked even as he got a scanner out from the supplies he had brought. He then added reassuringly. “In that case then you’ll probably be fine.”

“N-not right now. No. I did um have a nightmare but I g-get those sometimes…. “ Ht looks down and well stays still for Jackie to do his work. Not wanting to mess up the scans by moving. “…D-do the holes in my wings show r-r-rust?”

Nightmares weren’t good but they probably weren’t a sign of poor health so Wheeljack simply nodded at that. He then carefully looked at the scanner before replying. “Nope. There’s no signs of rust here or any other problems. So once I patch up your wings you should be good to go.”

“I-Okay. Thank you again. D-don’t know what I’d do if they did get rust. Heard that rust is painful. And…v-very hard to get rid of. Oh! Um is….is your home far from here? It wasn’t a long trip? D-don’t want to be a bother or um t-trouble for you.” Honestly he wanted to ask if Wheeljack would visit sometimes. He didn’t want to always be alone out here. There wasn’t much to do except maybe visit and explore the canyons and small forest.

Setting the scanner down and picking up a few choice tools, Wheeljack tilted his helm slightly and looked at Skywarp. “The ark isn’t that far away and I drive fast,” he answered.”You don’t have to worry. If this was too much trouble I’d tell you.”

“Besides,” he added. “As far as I can tell you haven’t done anything wrong so you deserve some help.”

“Th-thanks. I…um really want to be good. Not sure how but want to be a good bot.” He sits still and lets Wheeljack work. His wings felt a bit numb around the areas he had gotten hurt. Maybe the nerves were shut off to stop the pain? He wasn’t sure. 

“….Is….is it possible for me to met more bots like you?”

     Magnus wasn’t all that shocked–yet nonetheless annoyed to see wheeljack on his lawn asleep. Though, not the Wheeljack of his verse, it was still wheeljack. For some reason, it didn’t matter where he was, that one bot always managed to find him. Magnus sometimes wondered if that were a curse, or just the universe’s way to keep the commander in check. Regardless, there was still a sleeping mech on his lawn.

     Magnus walked over with a drone like sigh before leaning over. “Excuse me…” he spoke up.

Magnus gave a firm nod before looking up slightly. “For now, rest.” He said as he stood. “You still seem rather tired. We can think more in the morning.” He reassured.

“I suppose I am still tired,” Wheeljack agreed reluctantly. He didn’t like the thought of recharging before finding any definite answers but there wasn’t much more that he could do right now. He stood up as well. “Thanks for letting me stay here. I can recharge in my vehicle mode.”

“nonsense,” Magnus told the mech. “There is a recharge berth you can use. This place housed a few wreckers from time to time. You will take one of the rooms.” He stood and waited to see what he would say. though he wouldn’t take no for an answer, he still was polite to hear him out.

Wheeljack wasn’t one to refuse a friendly offer just for the sake of refusing, so he nodded. “Thanks, that does sound nice.”

Magnus nodded and urged the bot to follow him. “This way then,” he told Wheeljack. After a brief walk, he had led the mech to a room. Not entirely in the best shape–about as in shape as the rest of the home. Nevertheless, there was a good standing, good condition berth. That was about the best the commander had to offer. “It’s not much, but it’s functional.”

Wheeljack followed, looking about the room with a curiosity only somewhat dulled by how tired he was. The berth he noted looked particularly inviting. “Thanks once again,” he stated gratefully, “this looks great.”

Wheeljack could recall a few times that he had crashed as well bad enough to need extensive repairs and he nodded once in sympathy. “So are you going to race again or try something different?”

“I was gonna go racing tonight actually. The track will be closed so I mapped out a path around the junkyard” She said, looking up at Wheeljack “You should come with me. Nobody’s around so you can go as fast as you want”

“Really?” He seemed to perk up at that idea, helm fins flickering a bit brighter in excitement. “That’s a very tempting offer. I’d love to be able to get some racing in.”

Scout smiled as she noticed him perk up “Yeah, I gotta go make sure my motorcycle is all ready. It’s been too long since I’ve had a good race” She couldn’t help the excitement that seeped into her words at the thought of getting out on her motorcycle again.

“Right,” he agreed a part of him making a note to ask her if he could get a good look at her motorcycle later to see just how it ran, before halfway suggesting. “So should I meet you at your place later or..?”

“I’m guessing Ratchet is out and about? What’s the experiment?”

More like there was a chance that Ratchet would veto the experiment so Wheeljack hadn’t even bothered to ask him, but he kept quiet about that. “It’s a new fuel enhancer. If it works it should allow fuel to last longer in times we have to ration it.”

“hmmm. Sounds good.” She’s going to exit the office and lock the door. “That should work out wonderfully.”

“Well I’m hoping it does,” Wheeljack chuckled, starting to walk back towards his lab. “But there’s only one way to find out.”

“I’m all ears.” She’s curious now.

“Well,” Wheeljack explained. “I’ve already ran some basic tests, but I was hoping to start doing more detailed ones.”

Curiosity and concern warring within him, Jack nodded, making sure that his tone was sincere. “I promise I won’t tell anybody. You can trust me.”

He then gave her a warm reassuring smile. “You don’t have to show me though if you aren’t comfortable about it.”

“If I’m going to trust you, then that means trusting you with my secret,” she said, looking away. Without warning, a light surrounded the girl and she transformed to her ghost side, complete with white hair and green eyes. This is what she wanted to keep hidden from everyone else.

“I’m a clone,” she admitted once the light disappeared and she was in her ghost form. “I was created by Vlad Masters last year, all because he wanted the perfect son. Thanks to my third cousin once removed Danny Fenton, I was stabilized when Vlad tried to get rid of me. Both Vlad and Danny are half ghosts, like me.”

Jack gasped as she changed, his eyes widening. He remained where he was though and didn’t try to get away from her. In fact after a moment to recover he leaned forward interest showing clearly on his features. He had seen some strange things during his life but nothing quite like this.

“Clone?” he repeated, tilting his head slightly. “Half-ghost?”

Were such things even possible?
