olivedover:
“It sure as hell doesn’t look like one to me.”
“My point exactly.”
diegovelxzquez:
"It’s a T-REX, dude. Of course it classifies.“
“For someone going to a kids party, sure.”
clumsycelestelg:
“Well, do you have something better then, Mr. Grumpy Pants?”
“Grumpy cat --- I hear it’s topical.”
caseyygrant:
"Hopefully? I literally don’t care for the holiday, but people at work do. Apparently me saying no three times previously to work night out stops now so people can deal with the shitty costume or fuck off.“
“Easy does it, was only curious. Surprised you went along with it anyway.”
hazelandersen:
“Is it the wig? Is it too weird?”
“That’s one word for it.”
“ ---- You sure that classifies as a Halloween costume?”
olivedover:
Olive was out in the woods doing target practice with a stolen gun, bottom lip caught tightly between her teeth as she focused. The slow click as she cocked it echoed through the empty space and she was just about to pull the trigger when someone walked in front of her target, pulling an angry noise from the faerie.
“I could have killed you, idiot.”
“Maybe --- wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been shot though. And believe me, if I can survive it once I can survive it twice. Do you call everyone you steal from an idiot? I’ll be having that back thanks.”
jaiimeclarke:
“What sounds better or less cliched? Princess Leia or Mimi from RENT?”
“Both, please tell me you have a backup plan.”
kateandersen:
“I think I’ve lost track of the amount of times the kids have tried to scare me this month. Then again, little David from three doors down tried to get in on the festivities back in SEPTEMBER. It’s nice and all, but I’m beyond glad that my kid is out of that stage. I hope, anyway…" Kate chatted away as she took a break from behind the counter. "Spiderweb cupcake?” she held them out to the person she had been talking to. “Free of charge, of course.”
“Out of that stage and into the parties and underage drinking stage -- yes, I’m glad too.” The male mused sarcastically, somewhat amused as he settled into a counter seat. “Don’t mind if I do, though I’m no charity case, Kate. Take it and don’t even think about arguing the point..” He warned, sliding a bill across toward her.
janepraelia:
It was Jane’s third time running through dissembling and reassembling the gun, something she did when she needed to clear her head and focus on something. Finishing up, she glanced up at the person in front of her. “Can I help you?”
“You’re slacking --- that was what, seven seconds slower than your first. Come on Jane, you’re better than that.”
hazelandersen:
“Are you serious?!” She looked at her now fully drenched self and then at the paper in her hand that she had been proofreading. The car who had just zoomed past clearly didn’t spot the puddle and now pretty much monsooned the teenager. Her green hues snapped into the direction the car had gone and noticed that it disappeared already. “Crap. Don’t even have the decency to apologize? Asshole.” She muttered to herself while trying to dry her essay papers. Now she had to go home and change. Brilliant.
“That’s some colorful language --- you certainly didn’t get that from your mother. Tell me, how exactly I managed to influence you without even being around.” The male mused, approaching his niece with a tired smile. How long had it been, years, if not more; the male had lost his sense of time during his tours overseas.
genevieveemerson:
“Did I really seem like some kind of shrinking violet? The truth is always better than useless platitudes.”
“I couldn’t agree more; though in my experience people around here can be a little too sensitive for anything outside of their comfortable politically correct box.”
kateandersen:
“That’s what I’m worrying about. I don’t know what to say or when to say it. There’s a fifty fifty chance that she won’t have the curse that her father had, but there’s every chance that she could. I know that I have to tell her, but how do I tell her that one day she might turn into a beast that everyone fears? I want Hazel to be okay with who she is, I don’t want her to fear what her future might become. I know I need to tell her, but how can I do that without destroying everything we’ve built?” It was a heavy topic and one she knew she should’ve waited to talk about considering Jackson was not long home, but he had a way of pulling out her worries without having to utter a word. Something inside of her wanted to share everything with him. It had been too long since she had been able to have a conversation like this with someone she trusted. When she noticed how tired he looked she sighed, she often disliked the fact that he put others before himself. She had half a mind to send him to bed right now, but then she would starve herself off his company for a couple of more hours and, quite frankly, she didn’t want to be alone. “I’m constantly surprised when it comes to my daughter,” she idly shrugged as she poured two mugs off coffee. “I can’t help it.”
“Isn’t that what parenthood is all about; navigating the unknown, doing your utmost to do best by your child and your own moral compass. Whatever she is --- whatever happens -- you’ll deal with at the time, worrying about it will do no good. Then show her that Kate, show her that you don’t care what or who she is, your her mother, she’ll understand. And of course it’ll be scary and she may pull away for a time, but as long as you make it known you’re there for her you have to let her do her.” He murmured, finishing the remaining remnants on his plate before his gaze returning to idly following her movements. “You shouldn’t be --- she’s a smaller version of you after all.” Jack nodded, forcing a small smile as he lent back in his chair. “I’ve noticed.”
makoa-ka-aukai:
“Here we are,” Makoa said to the teen on his bike who was one of the kids he worked with that he’d given a ride home from a court hearing. It was more than a little out of the way, but she enjoyed the ride and it was worth the effort to give her the joy of it. After seeing her off and making sure she got inside safely, he turned to face the eyes he felt on him, giving a somewhat tired smile. “Can I help you?”
“Still continuing the neighborhood shuttle, I see. Guess somethings never change.” The male mused with a light smile as he approached his old friend.
