May Day is the first in Josie Jaffrey’s new Seekers series. Jack Valentine, introduced in the short story prequel Killian’s Dead, is a relatively young vampire living in Oxford, solving silver crimes (silvers being vampires). She has a grudge against the local baron Killian Drake, and is otherwise doing her best to be a messy bisexual vamp. The latest silver crime her team is tasked with solving seems to come with too many layers, too many suspects–and some of those suspects are the most powerful vampires around. REVIEW I LOVED this book! I liked how Jaffrey sculpted Silver society and gave us a young, not super powerful vampire to guide us in the world. Also, Jack is great bisexual rep. Her messy dating life is fun and does capture the best of both worlds. Also the mystery is interesting and definitely has some twists to it! If you want a new vampy read, please pick this one up!
