Titus Theverthundiyil
Born: 18 February 1905 Died: 8 August 1980 (aged 75)
He served as governing secretary for Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram milk project near Ahmedabad.
A devout Gandhian – he was known by the name Titus in his earlier days. “Titusji” was the name given to him by Mahatma Gandhi as a token of love and honour.
Mahatma Gandhi visited Titusji’s home in Maramon, Kerala, on March 15, 1925, on his way to Aranmula temple near Chengannur.
Married to Annamma (Ikarethu House, Kozhencherry), they had seven children—a daughter and six sons. The eldest daughter, Aleyamma, was born in Sabarmati Ashram itself.
Titusji was the lone Christian in the Dandi Salt March.
In 1970, he published the book “The Bharat of my Dreams” in which he revealed his hope for the nation,and for its teeming millions.
