During winter quarter of 2018, I enrolled in an introductory aerospace engineering course. The following is a project that two of my classmates and I created to teach our peers about the anatomy of a rocket. My portion of the presentation covered propulsion and types of rocket fuel. In order to deliver a strong presentation, I extensively researched the physics behind propulsion and the three different types of fuel used to propel rockets in space. This is one of my projects for Biology 10 at UC Davis. The assignment was the research one problematic social aspect of HPV (a sexually-transmitted infection), then formulate a solution. My group members and I chose to investigate the stigma surrounding vaccinations for HPV. Our solutions for combatting this stigma and increasing HPV vaccination rates are detailed in the Google Presentation linked below.

As an intern for the Arthur Morgan Institute for Community Solutions, I redesigned the company website, communitysolution.org, using Squarespace.

One of my responsibilities as a marketing intern for Palo Alto Housing was to design flyers for events in affordable housing communities. This was a printout that I designed for an art, science, and talent showcase that was held by children living in below market rate housing managed by Palo Alto Housing.

One of my assignments for Palo Alto Housing was to design a brochure with general information about the company. These print-outs detail what Palo Alto Housing is, where its properties are located, and what extracurricular programs are offered to tenants of the company’s affordable housing communities.

At the beginning of my internship at Palo Alto Housing, I conducted research into the Bay Area housing crisis in order to better understand the importance of below market rate (BMR) housing. I balanced my quantitative understanding of the housing crisis (as detailed in the document linked below) with the more empathetic and qualitative conversations I had with residents of BMR housing who had suffered the consequences of rising real estate prices first-hand.

One of the projects that I worked on for Palo Alto Housing was a series of interviews with tenants of below market housing. In this essay, Lorena Olvera and her daughter Hannah explain how living in affording housing in Palo Alto has given them a diverse range of academic and extracurricular opportunities that changed their lives for the better.
