Here I give you a page of Leikný stuff
I actually started this page back in June, I think the day before the Laufey announcement, but then afterwards I never came back to continue. But today my PS4 won’t let me play God of War 2018, so I decided to finish it up so I can actually show it off
Though literally the only thing I did today was line and color the Leikný and Angrboda sketch, everything else was in June so I don’t remember it much
First up we have my attempt at an adult design for Leikný, since she’s not going to be a child forever. I remember her colors causing me issue at the time, I had to tweak some stuff so it’d actually look decent, including changing her hair to Angrboda’s color (I don’t know how to explain the change in hair color in-universe though), but I think by now it looks good enough
I think I also remember that her adult hairstyle is inspired by Lamiroir/Thalassa Gramarye, who admittedly is white but hopefully I was able to make her hairstyle work with Leikný’s dreads
The bottom two pictures meanwhile were just me drawing young Leikný with her parents, and attempting some future Atreus and Angrboda designs. I don’t know how good they are, and for the most part I used other fan designs for their older selves as inspiration, but hopefully they’re good enough
Though I have to admit, I very much half-assed the Angrboda one. I remember it was causing me trouble when I first drew this, I think I decided to take a break from the page at the time, and coming back I just decided to make do with what I had and slapped stuff together so I could finally declare the page finished. They might need a redemption where I draw the two better, but that’d also mean trying to attempt another future Angrboda design when I’m still not sure what that’d look like, so hmm
But other than that, I think one of the big reasons I first decided to draw this page was to demonstrate a slight change in Leikný’s lore/design. Originally she was born with her vitiligo spread over half her body, but now I’ve decided that she was born with only her left hand white, but as she grew older it spread to more of her body, and it was only by the time she reached adulthood that her vitiligo was a perfect split
I think I just decided this because I didn’t like her split look originally (as in the two skin tones clashed) and I learned vitiligo does that with age, but whatevs, it’s part of the lore now
The only other possible addition to her lore is that since the Laufey reveal, I’ve been considering the idea that Leikný/Hel in general could have ties to the Everywhen, since basically everyone important to the Norse games is a god and so her only having dominion/ties to the normal dead seems a bit boring if nobody’s there (except probably Baldur). But I’ve also had to tell myself to rein that idea back in since we don’t know anything about the Everywhen and the plot of this game yet, so I suppose it’s nothing more than a concept
Oh speaking of Baldur, I just remembered another addition is that Leikný ends up befriending Baldur’s spirit. Initially he really doesn’t want her there but he can’t really do anything about her so he just has to accept it. He warms up to her eventually though (and probably doesn’t know she’s Atreus’ kid). Leikný meanwhile was just like “You’re my friend now. We’re having soft tacos later”. She’s like 5-7 at this point
And I think that’s about it for the Leikný stuff, don’t know when I’ll get back to her. Maybe if/when I get to Ragnarok I’ll have more ideas, but who knows when that’ll be at this point
