JADE + HATING TORI   (         ft. tori vega  !   )  

JADE DOES NOT LIKE TORI VEGA       !        at least not when she first meets her       .       i often see people saying that this is because of tori’s first interaction with beck       (       spilling the coffee and then trying to rub it off him       )       which makes sense at first glance but for my jade that is not at all the reason she doesn’t like tori       .       while that was the first time tori interacted with jade       ,       it’s likely not the first time jade saw tori       .       it’s almost certain she watched tori’s performance the night prior at the showcase and her subsequent acceptance into hollywood arts       . now i personally went to an private arts high school for two years       ,       which is what hollywood arts is implied to be       .       schools like this have a rigorous application and audition process which all students have to go through in order to be accepted       .       now it’s rare but not impossible that someone would be accepted based off a single performance like tori was       .       students who get special treatment like that       ?       oftentimes they’re resented by those who were accepted the traditional way because they just didn’t have to work as hard       ,       and i think that’s exactly what jade’s problem with tori is       .        when jade walked in to see tori rubbing her boyfriend       ,       she wasn’t pleased because she already didn’t like her       .       jade west is a judgmental and rude person so she didn’t trie to hide how she felt about tori       ,       and in fact she set out to prove a point in the improv skit       .        hollywood arts seems to run on a model where students are expected to participate in many different branches of the arts        (       acting       ,       singing       ,       dancing       ,       ect       .      )       jade wants to prove that tori doesn’t really know what she’s doing       ,       that she doesn’t deserve to be here       .       and jade’s right       ,       at least about the first part       .       tori is inexperienced in acting which is understandable but it pisses jade off       .       as jade sees it tori got special treatment and didn’t earn her way into hollywood arts like everyone else which is especially hard on jade because she worked so hard to get it       .       jade is from a low income family        (       at least as i write her       )       and she’s only able to attend hollywood arts on scholarship       .        now here’s the thing with private schools       :       kids who would normally be accepted often times can’t be        (       or at least can’t attend       )       because they don’t have the money to pay for it and the school can’t or won’t offer them a scholarship       .       meanwhile some students who aren’t as qualified may be able to get in because they’re able to pay the tuition in full        (       ex:       trina vega       .       )       unlike trina       ,        tori is super talented but that doesn’t change things in jade’s mind       .       she still should have had to audition like the rest of them       .        now tori’s family has the money to pay       ,       for both her and trina and jade is jealous of that far more than she is of any interaction that tori had with beck       .       this isn’t tori’s fault and it isn’t fair but as jade sees it this girl has everything and anything she doesn’t have she gets.       jade never had anything like that growing up       ,       anything she has she’s earned including her place at hollywood arts       .       then of course tori and beck kiss during the skit and that does not help anything but that’s for a seperate post folks       !
