unfogging the future by cassandra vablatsky

Sylvia Plath // The Unabridged Journals
three of the most powerful and sinister spells known to the wizarding world.
Lovers Discovered | Alecto & Amycus
A breath caught in Alecto’s throat as she watched her brother’s reaction. She hated that she couldn’t read his expression, nor knew what action he was going to take. She certainly comprehended he would kill Caradoc – using an Unforgivable curse was just a preview, what tortures he had in mind for the Ravenclaw sent shivers down her spine. Either way she and Caradoc were over, there was no chance for them to ever be together, not now, not ever. Alecto would mourn for the love she felt towards him and upon returning to her dorm she would burn her journal. As she’d always believed, as her mother had always showed her – feelings were overrated.
The breath lodged in her throat released through her lips as a sigh. Her blue eyes widened somewhat when Amycus came towards her, rapidly closing the distance between them. He snaked his arms round her slender form, coercing her against his body. She swallowed hard, flinching slightly when he raised a hand to her face. He was in an unpredictable mood to say the least; he could be leading her into a false sense of security before inflicting the full brunt of his anger on her.
She opened her mouth to speak but Amycus hushed her with a kiss. Her body automatically, as usual responded to his touch. Her lips moving with his until her fear began to creep back in. She pressed her hands flat against her brother’s chest, and broke the kiss. She lightly shook her head at him.
“What are you doing?”
Amycus was not given what he had most desired. The kiss had not been truly returned. The indignation he felt brought the beast of his anger roaring back to life. Merlin, why did she do this to him?! Why did she choose some filthy animal over him?
WHY?!
He set his jaw and glared down at her. "I was seeking to remind you who you truly belong to and where you are meant to be." Amycus shook his head in disgust, letting his arms fall away from his sister. He turned his back on her and looked at her little pathetic boyfriend.
The wizard walked over to the crumpled Ravenclaw. He kicked hard, his boot crashing into the boy's ribs. He did it time and time again--not enough to kill the mudblood, but surely he had broken multiple ribs. A final stomp to the piece of shit's face sent blood splattering everywhere as he broke Caradoc's nose. Amycus felt some relief and pleasure from the sight and the moans and groans that came from the boy.
He glanced over at Alecto once more. Amycus had never been more betrayed or more disappointed. "I never would have thought you would do this. I never would have believed you would betray me--after all I have done for you. All that I endured to keep you safe." Tears pricked his eyes again, but he would not show weakness. He blinked them away, focusing in on his anger--holding on to it as tightly as he could to keep himself from breaking. "I loved you as no other ever could, but that was never enough for you. I was never enough. You are alone now, sister. By your will, you have no parents. By your actions, you have no brother."
Lovers Discovered | Alecto & Amycus
It started to all play out like a dream. Alecto wondered how hard Amycus had hit her. Did she have a concussion? Was she really here? Maybe this was just a nightmare. It certainly wouldn’t be the first one she’d had about her brother discovering her relationship with Caradoc. She’d been so careful. How could he possibly discover them?
She gazed at Amycus in confusion, the two of them standing with a safe distance between them. But his murderous gaze was purely focused on Caradoc, and even though Alecto watched him pull out a wand. Her brain refused to kick into gear. She couldn’t move her legs, despite wanting to run in front of him and knock the wand from his grasp. It wasn’t until Caradoc screamed that the slow motion abruptly faded back into realty.
Alecto spun on her heel, watching in horror as Caradoc convulsed upon the floor. Crying out with a terrified scream that would now forever haunt her dreams. She covered her ears with her hands, clutching the loose strands of brown hair until the agony stopped. And then she turned to Amycus, lowering her hands as she stomped towards him. Her hands were squeezed into hard fists, one she brought up to strike her brother in the mouth. All her pain behind it.
The moment he stumbled back from the brunt force she pulled out her own wand, pointing at her twin as if a sword ready to do battle. “THIS IS YOUR FAULT! YOU’RE THE REASON THIS HAPPENED, THE REASON I CRAVE ATTENTION! IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!” She yelled unable to fight back the tears any longer, they were feely falling now. All her pent up emotions were imploding. “YOU HAVE ALL YOUR GIRLS AND YOUR MAGIC AND YOUR STUPID DEATH EATERS! YOU LEAVE ME AND WONDER WHY I CHANGE. YOU CHANGED FIRST! YOU LEFT ME BEHIND!”
“You made me want for something I couldn’t have. I can’t have you anymore than him!” She sobbed lowering her wand and hung her head shamefully. “Just kill me; please…I don’t want to feel anything anymore.” She mumbled sadly.
There had been this transcendence in that moment. Amycus had gone beyond the pain his sister had birthed in him to fully embrace revenge and hate. It was an all consuming power that took hold of him. His mind given a new obsession to devote himself to. The pleasure that filled him was unlike any he had ever known. Amycus embraced the euphoria and let himself be lost in it.
Alecto swung at him and drew blood. Her knuckles busting his lip and while causing only slight pain shocked him. His eyes were wide and his lips pressed into a tight line as she threw her fit. The tears from those beautiful eyes still had the power to wash away his anger--or at least push it to the back of his mind as his concern for her took over the forefront. He immediately wanted to scold her for her wild use of language. Yes, he was a Death Eater--all the more reason his sister should not be exclaiming it in the hallways. It would not do for the Headmaster to learn of his allegiance.
The euphoric gratification of the Unforgivable had not faded in the least. Colors were brighter; his cheeks were flushed; his heart was racing. Amycus had never felt more alive. He watched his sister cry. His mind seemed unable to translate her words. He was far too lost in the delirium of the curse.
The wizard felt more powerful and more entitled than ever before. He stepped forward til he was nearly pressed against his twin. The Carrow had no intention of killing her. No, he would remind her. He could remind her--he was certain of it. How could she not be brought crashing into the reality of his love for her? The man let his wand disappear up his robe sleeve. His strong arms captured his twin and brought her even closer to him. The embrace was sensual and passionate. There was no hesitation. Amycus grazed a hand up her body to take hold of her moist cheek. A swipe of his thumb brushed away the salty liquid.
The kiss he gave her was deep and possessive. Still the affection was more gentle than rough. Amycus wanted to remind Alecto of their love---and its perfection. He urged her closer to him, seeking to deepen the kiss, hungering for her to respond to him--to reflect the same need he felt. Public opinion be damned, if his sister would have him, he would not hesitate to publicly claim her as his.
The Elder Carrow's Present Mood
A surging, seething, murmuring crowd of beings that are human only in name, for to the eye and ear they seem naught but savage creatures, animated by vile passions and by the lust of vengeance and of hate.
These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which, as they kiss, consume.
Our love is crazy, we’re nuts but I refused counselin’ This house is too huge, if you move out I’ll burn all two thousand Square feet of it to the ground, ain’t shit you can do about it With you I’m in my fuckin’ mind, without you, I’m out it
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts
Lovers Discovered | Alecto & Amycus
Alecto was caught off guard when Caradoc disappeared from behind her, thrown forcefully into the nearest stone wall. Her heart started thumping even harder against her ribs as her blue eyes glanced back to see Caradoc was still conscious and moving. A short sigh of relief parted her lips, her mood however instantly darkened knowing Amycus’ wandless magic had improved greatly. He was more unpredictable than she thought.
She couldn’t control the way her spine clicked when she faced her brother, cringing as the disgust and rage twisted his tone into something that only meant certain pain for her. She shrunk back slightly as he approached her, gone was the love he felt for her, hidden deep within the heart she had broken. She’d made a choice that day in the Owlery to embrace the fragile being of hope, attempt to be happy even though the realty was she could never be with Caradoc, just as she could never be in the open with Amycus.
Alecto attempted to stand tall, knowing the blow was coming but a short cry still escaped her throat, echoing throughout the empty corridor. She cradled her aching cheek with a hand, staring at Amycus despite the tears filling her eyes.
“You kill him, you kill the last bit of hope I have.” She admitted, barely raising her voice pass a whisper. Every word would carry, whether Amycus wanted to hear it or not. “And not only will you pay for it, but so will every single person in this castle. I will start with every girl you’ve charmed, ever looked at! I will make their screams fill this castle and haunt you!” She spat hatefully.
Amycus immediately felt guilt for the pain he caused his sister. His hand stung where it had come in contact with her cheek. She was and would always be his greatest weakness--his greatest vulnerability. The Dark Lord had seen this. The Dark Lord had warned him. But Amycus was blinded by love. His chest ached. His stomach turned. The man felt on the edge of tears. How could this mudblood have the love and affection of the only person he had ever loved?
Why did Caradoc Dearborn deserve such a thing?! Amycus refused to accept that he did. It was impossible. It was illogical. The piece of shit was nothing more than an animal.
A deceitful thief that had turned his sister against him and against the purist cause.
Amycus hated him.
There would come a day when he ended Caradoc's pathetic life. But it would not be today. It would not be Hogwarts castle. No, it would be in his graveyard--It would be slow and torturous. Amycus would savor every sweet moment.
Revel in every scream he ripped from the animal's lungs.
He did not acknowledge his twin's words. The girls that held his attention were truly only distractions from his pain at the distance he felt between himself and Alecto. He loved her. He had always loved her. But she loved another. How could it be this animal that gave her hope? How?! The entire situation is was incomprehensible to the wizard.
A guttural inhuman roar burst forth from him. Amycus drew his secondary wand, an unregistered conduit he had acquired from the black market. It was a Gregorovitch creation with an affinity for dark magic. He did not hold back. He did not hesitate.
"Crucio!"
He hissed out the Unforgivable curse. The ebony rod directed at the mudblood laying against the stone wall. The Ravenclaw's cries were instantaneous. The suffering soothed Amycus's soul. It was a sweet pleasure for him to watch Dearborn shudder and quake. The weak, pathetic animal's body convulsing as Amycus poured his hatred into the curse. He held it until his logic warned him that the screaming would draw unwanted attention.
[Amelia had left her wand on the bank with her things, something she regretted right now. She swam behind Amycus, looking for an opportunity to wrest him under the water. She didn’t think she could do it, but there always was a chance. She put as much force into leaping onto his back and trying to push or pull him into the water.]
[The girl seemed to pounce onto him, her limbs wrapping around him as she pushed down.] Oh shit! [The words left him just as his head dunked under the water, before he was able to react with any defense. His arms hooked her legs at the knees, effectively holding her body against his. The warmth of her chest on his back was a contrast to the water, despite the charm he had cast. The two of them bobbed up and down in the water as he sought to stabilize and she punished him for his mischief. But eventually, he managed to achieve floating them both above the water's rippling surface. The Carrow began to kick his feet keeping them stable and ever so slowly propelling them further away from the bank.]
[Amelia swam after him, closing her eyes as the splash headed her way again.] Stop laughing! [She pushed a wave of water towards him in return, too angry to be efficient about her work.]
I--[his words were cut off by another round of laughter.] I can't! [he grinned at the witch pursuing him, he kept just out of range, teasing her with little splashes, before diving under the water. Predictable perhaps, but he held his breath for as long as he could not letting any bubbles escape. Nearly a minute had passed with no signs of him on the surface when he grabbed Amelia's ankles and pulled her under again. Amycus surfaced then, looking side to side to see where the girl would come up. He had not intend on toying with her so playfully, but the urge had been impossible to fight when the first opportunity to soak her presented itself...and after that, well, he was just going with the flow.]
[Amelia had just put the cap on her tube when she felt the Amycus’s force push her into the water. She managed to take a breath before hitting the water, but wasted it on a shriek before plunging in. It was murky and dark and she was ready to murder him when she came back up, probably looking far less beautiful than most maidens coming out of the water would.]
You fucker!
[The Carrow burst out laughing at the badger's reaction. Her facial expression and the vulgarity that left her lips amused him to no end. Of course, he did not really know her well enough to judge whether or not she used such language regularly, but something led him to believe she didn't.]
[He pushed off the bottom out further from the bank, putting a bit of distance between them. His hands skimmed the surface, pushing a splash of water towards Amelia. Amycus was still laughing too hard to manage any words.]
Thank you!
[Amelia smiled brightly and went to gather some for herself, keeping herself as above the water as possibly, though she was too small to do much of that successfully.]
No problem.
[Amycus discreetly cast a warming charm over the both to stave off the unpleasant chill that would set in after too long in the water. The wizard watched her with mild amusement, wading a bit further out into the water. He let her finish gathering her sample and stow it away before taking hold of the girl suddenly and jerking her into the lake.]
Rat root and hornroot. Shouldn’t be too deep, but not exactly floating on the top.
These plants are still young, but I've found a whole mess of the rat root over here. Should be more than enough for us both.
