REMINDER FOR THOSE WHO THINK KURUSU’S BEHAVIOUR IS JUST “PETTY REVENGE” OR “SHE’S RUINING OTHER PEOPLE FOR THE SAKE OF IT” [AND WHY SHE WILL BE BEST GIRL]
She was like 13-14 when all her friends + boyfriend that she trusted turned against her
These are people she’s been friends with for more than a year since the new girl transferred in 2nd year
This new girl destroyed their friendship very VERY EASILY
It appears that the rest of the class probably also isolated her
AND HER RESPONSE TO THIS WAS “DOES THAT MEAN I’M WRONG? AM I REALLY UNTRUSTWORTHY?”
She wasn’t even like “omg what a bitch let me go beat her up and make her life miserable”
NO SHE FREAKIN SELF REFLECTED AND THOUGHT MAYBE SHE WAS IN THE WRONG
BUT she’s still a teenager, she had to rationalise this and DENY THE FACT THAT SHE’S UNTRUSTWORTHY [because who wants to believe that they’re “untrustworthy”?!]
SO SHE DECIDES TO PROVE THAT IT’S HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS IN GENERAL THAT IS FLAWED AND EASILY BROKEN
So her behaviour afterwards is more her own defence mechanism so she can continue to believe that she’s not “untrustworthy”
AND THAT’S WHY SHE CRIED - BECAUSE A FRIENDSHIP THAT CAN’T BE BROKEN PROVES THAT “NOT ALL HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS ARE LIKE THIS”
IT’S LIKE HER HAVING TO FACE THAT SHE WAS “UNTRUSTWORTHY”, THAT NONE OF HER FRIENDS BELIEVED OR EVEN LISTENED TO HER
“I only believe what she says herself” and “Thank you for telling us about this” were words she desperately needed to hear back then, but noone gave it to her
AND THAT’S WHY KURATA’S WORDS WERE SO IMPACTFUL
[PS: KURUSU IS THE REASON WHY KURATA BECOMES BEST BOY, FIGHT ME]
AND OF COURSE SHE WOULD BE ENVIOUS CUZ EVEN THOUGH SHE ACTED LIKE A MALICIOUS BITCH OUT THERE TO DESTROY PEOPLE’S RELATIONSHIPS, SHE STILL YEARNS TO HAVE FRIENDS WHERE BONDS AREN’T EASILY BROKEN, LIKE SHE HAS A PLACE TO BELONG
YES HER BEHAVIOUR WAS STILL SHITTY BUT YOU’LL SEE NEXT EPISODE ON HOW SHE DEALS WITH IT
THEN YOU CAN ENJOY THIS ADORABLE CINNAMON ROLL THAT NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK
