The Media Party
The Media Party was held at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, Texas. It was a night of entertainment, fun, and food. Country Music singer Kacey Musgrave performed a few of her hit songs. There were numerous arcade and video games for everyone to enjoy. A wide range of menu items were offered to please even the most discriminating palates. Some great swag was given to the guests and games winners! It was a night to remember.
The Convention Center
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was THE location for the fans. There on a regulations size turf field, the Oregon band perform and I was able to get a few photos with Puddles the mascot. There was a designated tailgating area that was very popular where one could enjoy a variety of football themed activities from kicking field goals to throwing touchdowns. My personal favorite area was the display of the uniforms for the final four teams in the playoffs. I could not resist taking a photo with the Alabama uniform from 2015 Sugar Bowl.
Head Coaches Press Conferences
The Renaissance Dallas Hotel was the location of the Coaches Press Conference. These men are ultimately responsible for leading their teams to the National College Football Playoff Championship Game. Ohio State’s Urban Meyer and Oregon’s Mark Helfrich faced off behind the podium as the two discussed what it would mean to them and their school if they win the game. The coaches were on the hot seat at the press conference today, but both men joked and laughed with each other, as they answered questions and took photos. The trophy was situated between the two and served as a reminder of what they were playing for. The game is tomorrow, so we will soon know which team will take it home.
Dr. Pepper’s commercial star “Larry Culpepper” was on hand at the media hotel. He was asked which team he thought would win. He replied, “Obliviously, I think the team with the most points on the scoreboard is the one that is going to win. That always seems to be the case.”

It is said that offense wins games, and defense wins championships. This saying could not be truer in this game. Both offenses are what got them here, but whoever’s defense steps up and stops the opposing offense is who will win the game.

2015 Media Day/OSU Practice
Today was Media Day for the College Football Playoff Championship at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. The media questioned the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks each team for an hour. There was a regulation size football field covering the floor of the convention center, with each team’s names in the end zones. At the front of the room there were four booths, at which the three captains along with the head coach sat and spoke to reporters. Oregon was there at 8:30 a.m. and Ohio State at 10:30 a.m. After lunch, I headed over to AT&T Stadium to see Ohio State practice. Met and spoke with some interesting folks today.

College Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
The College Football Hall of Fame announced their inductees for the class of 2015. The event was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Dallas, Texas. There were 15 players and two coaches selected to join the other college football greats. Those that were on hand from the 2015 class included Brian Bosworth, Bob Breunig, Lincoln Kennedy, and Coach Bill Snyder. Each shared the experience they had with college football and their reaction to being selected. It was an exciting day as I got the chance to see history in the making as college football legends entered the Hall of Fame. One of the inductees is former Michigan State RB Clinton Jones. I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing him at last year’s Rose Bowl (http://jadonbosarge.tumblr.com/post/72075475135/interviews-at-the-rose-bowl-michigan-state-and ). National Football Foundation Leadership Hall of Fame
On Thursday night, the National Football Foundation hosted the Leadership Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The chairman of the National Football Foundation is former NFL quarterback, Archie Manning. Other NFL stars attending include, Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, and Jay Novacek. All three played for the Dallas Cowboys and are all in the College Football Hall of Fame. This year’s inductee into the Leadership Hall of Fame is Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper. He wrote and published a book on aerobics in 1968. He also developed the 12 minute and 1.5 mile fitness tests. I had a chance to speak with Dr. Cooper and asked him what advice he would give to young people as it relates to their health and fitness? He responded, “Eat healthy, exercise a bunch, and have a full active life, like playing sports. I personally think that football has a big advantage…” Dr. Cooper has been immensely influential to millions of people worldwide.
2015 College Football Playoff Championship
The National College Football Playoff Championship Game, set for Monday, January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is predicted to be an electrifying game with two entertaining and explosive offenses putting on a show and lighting up the scoreboard. We all witnessed how easily the Ducks sliced up the Seminoles, and how the Buckeye’s “third string” QB, Cardale Jones, and RB, Ezekiel Elliot, were virtually unstoppable against Alabama’s top SEC defense, especially on third downs. Both teams’ defenses will be put to the test as we will see two of the top up-tempo spread offenses clash.
2015 Sugar Bowl Review
In the second College Football Playoff game of the day, the Alabama Crimson Tide played the Ohio State Buckeyes on New Year’s Night in the Sugar Bowl, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, in New Orleans. This game was used to whittle two of the top teams in college football, with the winner to play in the 2015 National College Football Championship. Alabama, known as the SEC powerhouse that wins consistently and has won the national championship 3 of the last 5 years, was predicted to win over Ohio State. The Buckeyes went undefeated last season, but because their probation stemming from NCAA violations were prohibited from any bowl games and could not contend for the National Championship. In the early stages of the game of the game, it looked as though Bama was going to bring home another victory, as they were beating Ohio State, 21-6. However, the Buckeyes did not surrender to the Tide. They played a phenomenal game, scored 28 unanswered points, and eventually beat Alabama by a score of 42-35. They advance to play Oregon in the National College Football Playoff Championship Game on January 12 at AT&T Stadium.
2015 Rose Bowl Recap
This was the first College Football Playoff game in the history of college football. This year, the Oregon Ducks faced the Florida State Seminoles on New Year’s Day in the 101st annual Rose Bowl football game, in Pasadena, California. The Ducks, ranked number two in the final College Football Playoff rankings, while the Seminoles had yet to suffer a loss in 29 consecutive games, was ranked third. The debate was if the stout Florida State defense could stop the high-octane offense of Oregon. Even though most believed that Oregon was not tough enough, or had not faced worthy opponents, the Ducks crushed the Seminoles in a 52-20 blowout. It turned out, the Duck defense put on a show forcing six turnovers; including a Jameis Winston fumble the Ducks returned for a touchdown. After Oregon’s dominating performance, no one questioned the ability of Oregon’s offense, or their defense. The Seminoles received their first loss of the season, ending with a 13-1 record while the Ducks move on to play Ohio State, the winner of the Sugar Bowl, in the first ever National College Football Playoff Championship.
